My very favorite movie.
19 February 2006
When I watch a movie, I like to laugh, and that's why this is my favorite movie of all time.

It's the only pairing of James Cagney and Bette Davis, and the sparks do fly. You might call this a variation on the theme of "It Happened One Night." James Cagney plays a cargo pilot asked to aid in an elopement that would result in a disastrous marriage for an heiress. Her father offers him payment if he delivers her home unmarried. The ending is predictable, but the journey to it is not. Great fun.

Oh, I know there are so many other "important" and wonderful movies out there. I love a lot of them. But rarely has one tickled and surprised me the way this one did.

Let others favor the big famous movies. I'll take this little gem.

I'm surprised that more people haven't recognized its charm.

Once and Again (1999–2002)
Six years later, I still miss this program.
16 January 2006
Every time I see a cast member in another production, I think of this program.

At a minimum, someone should write a novel based on the show.

What happened to these people? The ending...wasn't. (But was very exciting, all the same.)

I can't see giving a synopsis, because that's been done very well already.

In the same time-frame were the shows, "Time and Again" and "Now and Again," also. Due to this, our family resorted to calling "Once and Again," "The Dead Insurance Guy Show."

The dissatisfying (non)conclusion of this program has resulted in my hesitation to become interested in many series since that time. Don't leave the viewer "hanging," like this. Please!

The best Bugs Bunny cartoon in existence.
16 October 2005
No, let me revise that. The best CARTOON in existence, bar none.

What are they talking about, violent? Nobody could ever take the violence in this gem seriously. I love square dancing, and I love this cartoon. I used to listen for the opening of Bugs singing, "I love mountain music…" as my cue that my favorite cartoon was about to air. Put it back on the television rotation, please, oh TV moguls who have decided it's politically incorrect or whatever. Todays kids are missing out.

I have read that Mel Blanc wrote part of the square dance patter. All I can say is I'm glad I never had him (or his alter ego, Bugs Bunny) as my square dance caller! But I'm tickled pink to watch the Martin brothers dance to his tune.
