The Sandman: 24/7 (2022)
Uncomfortable Twin Peaks level weirdness
The majority of this episode is a strong change of pace from the previous. Showing what John's perfect world would be, where honesty is the best policy. The episode gradually progresses from the mundane of normalcy in a common diner, but slowly darkens as each character is forced to tell the whole truth and nothing but.
It's uncomfortable and harsh but engaging, and an interesting view into what this character believes would be a better world.
Star Wars: Visions: The Duel (2021)
Whole series please
Please just give us a whole series of this, it was so good, brilliant use of colour, contrast and the art/animation was superb.
Please Disney, a whole show like this would be amazing.
Lucifer: Is This Really How It's Going To End?! (2021)
Chills and tears
This episode was extremely well paced, well structured and well executed. From Lucifer's dad joke and the light-hearted atmosphere at the beginning. To Dan's second odyssey of the season which had tension, hope and finally heartbreak. The funeral; an air of hope for Ella, the eulogy from Amenadiel (and poor Trixie). There's the send off from Ella and Lucifer (cathartic yet depressing).
Finishing it off was that powerful moment between Lucifer and Linda, gave me chills.
Well done Netflix.
Rick and Morty: Rickdependence Spray (2021)
Why all the hate?
Seriously, this feels like a classic Rick and Morty episode, drenched in satire, randomness and one liners. I don't understand all the low ratings. This site is a joke, I really hope all these dumb reviews don't actually hurt the show.
Tenet (2020)
Next Inception
People thought of this movie as the next Inception, and they were right.
Really interesting ideas that were obviously made with much planning and forethought, the acting choreography and scripts were on point in this film and I thouroughly enjoyed it.
Tenet is an intricate movie that poses some conceps that are hard to grasp. Which explains the lukewarm reaction.
There is a lot to wrap your head around in this movie and I think multiple viewings are in order.
The Boys: What I Know (2020)
Now that is how you do a finale
Hats off! The reveals, twists, and shocks worked in every way and then they managed to setup for more too! This was more like 2 episodes crammed into one.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
One great filler episode
Truly epic moments, visually awesome but no payoff. There are a bunch of strands of story, but they are all trying to be shown at once.
I didn't dislike this movie, but it like there was no conclusion at all. Just setup for what's to come.
Leta Lestrange seemed like an interesting character but they killed her off before much could happen with her. I really hope they knock the 3rd movie out of the park and it makes this one better.
Altered Carbon: Broken Angels (2020)
I don't get it
I guess people loved season 1 for the hard R swearing and nudity.
Sure season 1 was better, but this season wasn't bad by any means, it was still entertaining with interesting science fiction. Really don't understand the hate
The Mandalorian (2019)
Just good
As a fan of everything star wars, except maybe the caravan of courage, this fills me with so much joy!
Arrow: Elseworlds, Part 2 (2018)
Fricken Gothem, Fricken Arkham!!!
Seeing the names Cobblepot, Nigma, Isely and most of all hearing the Joker laugh made my week. This is fan service and I don't care. It was done right and made me so happy. Reference galore and it was awesome such a great crossover.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Anyone calling this movie a 1 truly needs to get their eyes checked.
People are giving this movie 1s out of 10 and I cannot fathom why? This movie has great visuals, a story that is perfect for the character of Spider Man, and gives us an epic portrayal of Mysterio, the master of deception. This is a great addition to the MCU.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
People have forgotten the history of Game of Thrones
Everyone hating on this season, seriously need to be reminded that the things you want to happen in this series, DON'T! That's how it has always been.
This show doesn't do what you'd expect, it shows flawed people, doing horrible things.
There aren't happy endings, and giving episodes a a rating of 1 just because you don't like the choices that were made is just childish.
Polar (2019)
R rated comic book movie.
Critics and casual viewers alike are nuts. Imagine John Wick with added comicbook craziness and you have this movie. Yes it's silly and weird, but that ridiculousnous makes it fun to watch. This movie knows what it is and plays into it; there are some films made for popcorn viewing, not to win Oscars. If you have Netflix and know how to turn your critical brain off. Give it a go.
Swiss Army Man (2016)
A Delightfully Weird Movie
This is such a strange, unique and just plain odd idea for a movie, but the way the story is told and the acting gives it heart. Just imagine castaway if Wilson was a impossible, child brained, zombieman.
Game of Thrones (2011)
1s and 2s. Really?!
Quick review of GOT is, it is fantastic, probably will be regarded as one of the best series' in history.
The story of this show (while differing in places to the books) is an epic tale of fantasy in a medieval setting.
The scale of this show and effort put into it puts a lot of high budget Hollywood film's to shame.
I applaud David Benioff And D. B Weiss for creating this masterpiece.
Rant Time:
Now on to all of the people who have tried in vain to make this show go under a 9. I cannot comprehend why any person is rating this show a 1 or a 2. The cinematography and effects alone make that objectivly wrong, to anyone with eyes.
I felt physically bad reading people say this show has no story or substance, or worst of all, that it's boring. I understand that people may not like this show, and that's fine. But some of he arguments these people give tells me they have no brain cells.
Titans: Dick Grayson (2018)
Incredible as an episode. Lack lustre as a finale
In terms of showing off a DC universe, this episode felt like it was could have been made by Nolan. The references made me smile even though a lot of them were just teases. The acting was great and the episode was shot and editted well. However in terms of a finale for the show I just watched through and enjoyed, I was expecting more. The fact that technically there was only a minute or two of actual "finale" in the episode annoyed me a lot.
TLDR Great as a stand alone piece, not so great as finale to the show
Also watch till the credits end for a fun teaser
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017)
I've never wanted to strangle a kid, but...
I love this show, the way it's shot, presented, and acted makes it one the freshest, weirdest and entertaining shows out there. I have also read the books (ages ago) and I consider this show a good adaptation.
Now your probably wondering about the title of this review, and I wrote it because there is a child character called Carmelita, and I want to kill her when she is on screen, so props to the actress.
Bird Box (2018)
Most terrifying movie?
People keep saying this is the most terrifying movie they have ever seen, and to that I say... Really?
I get scared really easily, but this one didn't scare me. I liked it a lot, the plot was done well and it was well acted. The main gripe I have is some of the unrealistic aspects, but then again, it's a movie about ethereal creatures which cause you to commit suicide, so...
Anyway I don't think this deserves 1s or 2s as it is definitely not that bad. But it is certainly not a perfect movie.
Daredevil: Karen (2018)
9 because of the end
Never thought I needed a Karen flashback, and I still dont. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad flashback, but it really screwed with the rythmn of this series. I was sat there waiting for the backstory to end so we could get back to Hell's Kitchen and... Oh boy.
The end of the episode made it a 9 for me! The fighting as always was amazing, but the tension and drama that was attached to it made it sensational!
