Masters of the Air (2024)
A nose dive.
I had high hopes, as I believe everyone who is a fan of BoB and the Pacific had. This does not deliver on any front - boring characters, cliche American storylines and a complete disregard for the actually incredible, 'writes itself', events that the series is meant to be focussed on. Disney ruined Star Wars...evidently, it's spreading.
It's baffling, really. With such rich material from history, you'd think this show would be hard to mess up. Yet here we are, left with a series that's more forgettable than memorable. It's like they had the recipe for an epic tale but decided halfway through each episode to just make a sandwich instead, whilst simultaneously thinking 'I know, let's give the British a bashing'.
Here's hoping the next attempt at bringing war stories to the small screen packs a bit more punch and a lot more personality. 'Masters of the Air' could have been a home run, but it feels more like a massive yawn.
4 stars purely for the CGI - which, I worryingly, would give a high definition screensaver.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Misleading
A quote from someone the producers felt genuinely deserved airtime to voice their opinion was: "I've spent hours researching this and I don't agree with the coroner's findings"
Hours. As opposed to an entire career in medical science as a coroner.
It's not a documentary, it's a bunch of mediocre coincidences sensationalised. Pass this one.
The Office: The Banker (2010)
Filler
With such good material throughout the entire sitcom, why waste an episode on just flash back material - I never understand why these are made. You won't miss never seeing this episode.
