Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
"A Really Enjoyable Movie. But With Room For Improvement."
I really enjoyed this movie! That being said, it is in no way perfect and still has only a couple things it could have done better. Such as having John Mulaney as the voice of "Big" Jack Horner; it didn't work for me - I just couldn't take that voice seriously...and I found it to be a little annoying. A better voice might have been...someone like Kevin James. I while I did love the Wolf, I wish they would have used someone else as the physical embodiment of Death. Because I don't see Death, I see just another version of The Big Bad Wolf. They could have used someone like Xibalba (the Mayan god of death), that to me would have been better - and they could have taken design inspirations from Tzekel-Kan and his acolyte (from "The Road to El Dorado"). I also was not a fun of the animation, because we've seen Puss and his companions in traditional 3D animation, so to suddenly see them in a different style...it just didn't work for me. The worst for me was Perrito because comic-reliefs are almost done wrong. I mean, Perrito looked, talked, and acted like a moron. There is nothing wrong with someone being friendly, happy and positive...but that doesn't mean they also have to be naive and idiotic. Why didn't they just make Perrito happy-go-lucky because whenever he was stayed positive something good things always happened to him? The only times where he actually comforted Puss was when he was good, and I wish he was better at it because he even admitted that he wanted to be a therapy dog. I even wished there was just a little more time to rebuild the chemistry between Puss and Kitty - and I wish they actually kissed, much like they did in the first film. I did like the twist they did with Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but the whole reference to their story got old real quickly; also the bears could of had just a bit more brains. And while it is small...I didn't like the new mask they gave Kitty, and should have stuck with the black one. Finally the whole name "Team Friendship" was just stupid.
That being said I loved how much darker and more mature this movie was than all its predecessors. My favorite parts were always when the Wolf was on screen. I was also shocked to hear so many beeping/swears in the movie, as well as the "body count". I hope other kid movies start taking notes from this. And while I did find Jack Horner to be a spoiled brat, I did find him to be a believable villain because of how heartless and egotistical he was. The same goes with Death - I really wish he was given a bigger role. The action was pretty fun to watch, and I like the message they were trying to get across: "live your life to the fullest, and be happy with what you have." And I guess the animation worked every now and than, and most of the voice acting was done very well. I really did enjoy watching this movie, and so the good stuff outweigh the annoying stuff. It seemed to me that there was more to be told, which is why I wish it was a little longer. I also wish that Puss and Kitty prepared to redo their wedding, and planned on having a littler (and what they would name them). I would gladly love see another movie with Puss and Kitty going on another adventure together.
Lightyear (2022)
"This is Not The Buzz Lightyear I Grew Up With"
I was looking forward to this movie; given the fact that Toy Story is quite possibly my all time favorite animated movie. What I saw...was not what I'd expect from Buzz Lightyear. It took place in a rather boring world, where the only aliens were the overgrown bugs (not counting the robots). Seriously, there were no other aliens in the entire movie, not even in the Star Command unit. What gives?! How could you not have alien comrades or enemies in a sci-fi project?! Heck it would have been perfect for Alisha Hawthorne to be engaged to an alien rather than a woman - because interspecies relations is what's expected in science fiction!
And while I had my doubts about Chris Evans portraying Buzz Lightyear, I'll admit that he did a rather good job - and I loved how he quoted lines from the original Buzz Lightyear. A lot of people did a rather good job with their voice acting. The animation and music was also very good. However, all the other characters weren't interesting, as I felt that they could have done more with them - they could have done much more with this whole movie. While Izzy was fine, she tried too much. Darby could have been a brilliant engineer and demolition expert who was court marshalled because she was a bit too "trigger happy". Mo, in my opinion, was the worst character in the movie - he was naive, cowardly, and messed up at least five or more times during his time on screen; and what's with his weird fascination with pens? They should have made Mo a doctor, that way it would have given him a reason to hate violence, because his job is to save lives not take them.
And at the end, Buzz chooses them to be his team. You don't do that just because you got super lucky on one single mission! You send them back to the academy to get proper training, so they can become actual Space Rangers! Also, why did they make Alisha the greatest Space Ranger in history? I get that they know why, but we, the audience, don't. We didn't see her do anything, other than what she did in the start of the movie. But she barely did half of what Buzz was doing - Buzz did most of the work. What was most disappointing was the reveal of who Zurg really was; it did not work at all. If they didn't want to do the whole "I am your father" bit, they should have just made Zurg an IA created by Star Command that went rouge. The only other good character was Sox, because he was not only funny and adorable, he was incredibly smart and useful through out his entire time in the movie.
This shouldn't have been a movie about Buzz Lightyear. Maybe it should have been about his father. Who was a young Space Ranger while Star Command was still branching out to new planets. He could have eventually met his wife, and by the end became pregnant with Buzz. So if there was a sequel, that could have been about Buzz; graduating as valedictorian with his best friend Warp Darkmatter. Despite being the best he could be, he always feels stuck in his father's shadow - who supposedly died after willingly sacrificing his life to ensure the survival of everyone else abandoning the starship. Buzz learns that he doesn't need to live up to his father's legacy, but instead focus in making his own, and knows his father would be proud of him. If you want to see the real adventures of Buzz Lightyear...check out the animated movie and the animated series that actually capture what Buzz Lightyear truly is.
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022)
"Definitely Meant For Children"
I'm not what you'd call a fan of this version. While it was different, it was too much on the kid friendly side. While Jim Carrey's version may have focused a bit too much on the dark stuff, this one focusses too much on the light stuff. The animation wasn't anything grand, but the art style was still rather good and interesting to watch. I think probably the biggest problem with this movie is that it put more work on the songs than the story. I'm not saying the songs weren't good, they're probably the best part of the movie - but that becomes a problem, because the story is supposed to be the best part of a movie. It looked like the movie took time when it came to the songs, but rushed when it came to the story. Also, I'm not big on the voicing in the movie. While they were nothing bad, it felt like it was done by amataurs. Honestly, the way everyone acted was more like a theater play, instead of an actual movie. The candle lady was very interesting looking, but she was too goofy - she should have been more elegant and proper (in my opinion). She didn't really have any answers to give to Scrooge, which didn't work at all - I mean when Scrooge asked if he was doing the right thing, she should have said was, "Was it really? Or is that what you've been telling yourself all these years?" Plus, if she could be anyone Scrooge knew, why did she pick someone from a poster? Why not Bell, that to me would have been much stronger because it would have been like Belle herself showing Scrooge it was his fault that things ended. They could have also shown much more of Scrooges past, like how hard he had to work and study in order to support his family; and came to resent his father, because Scrooge felt he failed in his duties as a parent.
The second ghost looked like he was all about showmanship, and I don't really understand why he had all those fairies with him. They should have stayed in his realm, and didn't need to accompany him. Heck, the ghost couldn't even tell Scrooge off by repeating what he said about "people dying" because Scrooge never said it in this version. When the ghost showed him how his nephew spent Christmas with his friends, I would have liked to know more about him and his mother, and how Fred continues to invite his uncle, because he made a promise to his mother and wants his only living relative to be part of his life. When Tim began singing, Scrooge could have wondered why the little boy knew the same song as his little sister. Another thing that didn't work was Scrooge's dog. That dog had nothing to do with the story and was completely pointless. When the final ghost showed Scrooge the future, the song where the citizens actually celebrated his death was over the top, and unnecessary. The part where he showed Bob visit his son's grave was just so dull. Come on, "The Muppet Christmas Carol" was much more dramatic. But I have to admit that Jim Carrey's version was the best, because you really got to see all the rage and despair hit Bob at once, and Scrooge is forced to witness it - further watching all the harm his actions have caused. This one doesn't really show a lot or anything new. The ending, I found to be quite boring. Why not have him go through the city making rights for the things he's done wrong by day, and then have everyone over by night. If they wanted to try something different, why not have Scrooge reunite with Belle so they can too start over? I'm sorry to say that this one is for kids...not me.
Ishuzoku Rebyuâzu (2020)
"It's Fun. It's Different. It's Sexy."
While it's not outstanding in anyway, I had plenty of fun watching this anime. I mean, exactly how many anime series can you say are this graphic with their content? I wish that the series would continue, because I'd like to see the main characters have more development; and also have much more erotic adventures. I mean, there are still plenty of incredibly beautiful species that they have to review.
Don't get me wrong, some things were more on the comedic side and some of the characters were more than weird in their design, but I can definitely say that it was fun and interesting for most of it. I truly hope that very soon, or at least in the near future, that the rest of the manga becomes animated - because this definitely deserves more attention from anime fans.
Rumble (2021)
"It Was Nothing Special. It Was Nothing Different. It Was Nothing I Haven't Seen Before"
I did not find this movie to be fun, funny or original. It was full of clichés, and there were numerous times I was just so bored watching it as it had nothing I haven't seen before.
It was definitely made specifically for kids, and mot one of those kid that adults can also enjoy (like Toy Story, Kung Fu Panda or Sing). There was a lot of stuff I think would have made the movie better: like more focus on Steve always getting pressure from everyone, especially his father to be just like him; Winnie having trouble letting go of the past and trying to make her own history; and Tentacular wanting to make his own legacy because no matter how hard he worked or how many times he won, everyone constantly compared him to Rayburn. We also could have seen more of both Steve and Winnie's fathers and how big their legacy was. Plus, other side characters were eight uninteresting or did not have enough character development, and needed much more screen time - especially Winnie's mom.
Also, I strongly disliked the Jimothy character! I mean, he was just a rich, spoiled white guy with blonde hair, swagger clothing and was constantly on his phone - like we've seen multiple times with anyone that has tons of money! The movie really didn't need him!
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)
"I Did Not Care For This At All"
This project was not at all what I expected. I mean, the idea was good...but the project wasn't done well. It seemed that this was done simply for the fun of it - that's the impression I kept getting. It was fun to watch characters we grew up watching be in one movie - but it was done so much better in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". I didn't care for the story, the animation or the voice acting.
I really would have preferred if most of the animation was done in much better 2D. Also, since it was about The Rescue Rangers, I would have liked if they had a much larger role in the movie, and not just Chip and Dale; although they could of still been the lead role. The thing I didn't like most was the whole Gadget and Zipper marriage with children - that's just wrong! I'm not against interspecies relationships...just as long as the pairing are compatible. Why couldn't Gadget be married to Chip, or even Sparky. And I can totally see Dale having an on-and-off relationship with Clarice. Maybe have Tammy as a stalker of Chip's - the same with Dale with Foxglove.
What I think would of helped (in my opinion) was if they worked together with other characters, such as Bernard and Bianca, as well as Basil of Baker Street. To me this was one of those projects that didn't focus nearly enough on what it should have been.
The Bad Guys (2022)
"Not A Bad Idea...But It Could Have Been Done Better"
I can honestly say that this film wasn't really what I thought it would be. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Just that it could have been done better.
In the film we don't really learn much of the main characters, other than they're villains simply because they feel like they have to be. Now that's an interesting story, but only Wolf and Snake explain why they choose to be the bad guys (and it's very limited), while we don't get any story from the other three. The other characters don't really have a lot of development either. Plus, it was also very cartoonish (and quite childish at times), and I really have to add...the story was quite predictable. Another thing is how there are some animals with human features, yet there are other animals that resemble actual animals - it just doesn't make any sense. And finally, everything happened too quickly - it was also like the movie was trying to get the story over with; so the movie definitely needed to be longer.
What I think would of helped was if we had more backstory to each of the main characters (and not just the gang). Maybe some flashbacks at their childhoods, and growing up, and what eventually lead them to turn to a life of crime...and of course form as a group. As well as including more story to the others: what made Marmalade choose to act good but secretly be bad; why Luggins is so obsessed with The Bad Guys; and more on Diane and her life as a criminal before deciding to turn over a new leaf.
Another missed opportunity...was Wolf and Diane. I mean, the chemistry between them is so obvious, but nothing is done about it. Hardly any flirting, and no kiss scene. Maybe if Diane gave Wolf a few winks or kiss blowing during her time as The Crimson Paw, or the gang teasing Wolf about his obvious crush on the vixens. I just wish there was a lot more done between these two. Come on, it was directed by a Frenchman - where's the romance?!
Turning Red (2022)
"Disney's Getting Gutsy...And I Like It!"
I have to admit that I really enjoyed the movie. It was weird and really out there, and that's what I liked about it. I really enjoy when animated projects that don't shy away from family problems, teenage drama or social issues. The characters, animation and voice acting were all done very well. They did a good job of showing how scary changing and growing up can be, but it happens for a reason.
But like any other Disney movie, the problem is mostly resolved to quickly. Forgiving and moving on is important, but its not easy (like they make it seem in their movies). Ming did the exact same thing to Mei that her mother did to her - and she didn't see that? If nothing is ever going to be good enough, you shouldn't push a child to be perfect. Healing can happen...but it takes time.
(Ming shouldn't need to apologize. She may have given her mother that scar, but it was Wu's controlling and overbearing nature that caused such an act.)
People may call the portrayal of Chinese culture in this movie racist or stereotypical; but it isn't if its all fact. Most families of Asian cultures are very controlling and pass that toxic quirk to their children. Parents shouldn't push their desires onto their children, because than the children never get to live their own lives. If your kids rebel, its most likely because you're refusing to listen to them.
If there's a sequel, I seriously hope that Disney doesn't tone down the problems and issues of growing up.
The House (2022)
"Not What I Expected"
I am not a fan of the first two stories. Granted, they were creepy, suspenseful and gave me goosebumps. But a lot of the stories didn't make sense, and I couldn't really understand what was going on. Plus, only the first two were scary, where the last one was more coming-of-age - which seemed odd for a movie that made you think it was all about suspense.
Now third part of the story was very good. It had everything a good story should have. The third part should have been the entire movie. I would have loved to now more about Rosa, Elias, Jen and Cosmos. Where they came from, how their lives were, and how they ended up meeting. I especially would have loved to see a romance bloom between Rosa and Elias. Another thing I would have loved to see was, before the others departing...is Jen and Cosmo having a child together.
And there could have been a post credit scene, where after a few years sailing the sea, we see Rosa with Elias and their children. That to me would have been a much better story.
Sing 2 (2021)
"Upbeat, Entertaining And A Joy To Watch"
It is full of music, charm and a story you can follow. I'm glad to see most of the characters from the first film are in this one, and that we get to see them not only expand on their goals, but also face new problems to overcome. Almost everything in the movie is just right. The music, the animation, the singing, the movements, it's all incredible. Despite how much I enjoyed the movie, it is not perfect...
I feel as though the original is a little better, but I think that's only because there were a lot less characters to focus on. Which may be why it feels slightly rushed, and why some characters don't get much attention as others. Also some things I wished we saw more of. Like when Rosita was crying her heart out in the bathroom, it really would have helped to see her husband, Norman, comfort her - there just isn't enough time with the two of them together. Also, what about Clay's wife? How did she die, and how long have they been married? That is also something that could have been useful to the story. Also, some of the songs used could have been better. But that's just my opinion.
Despite all that, I still enjoyed the movie and hope that there's a part three in the works. Also, I'm not ashamed to say that Porsha Crystal is my new furry crush!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
"The Greatest (Live Action) Spider-Man Movie Thus Far!!!"
This is without a doubt one of Marvel's best live action movies, if not the best movie they've made! The acting, the directing, the music, the humor, the suspense, the characters - they were all done just about right! And I'm so glad that they brought back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, though I truly wish he had a slightly larger role (and I'm still incredibly pissed "Daredevil" wasn't given a proper ending...along with "The Punisher"). And although I thought that whole "Hobgoblin" look was interesting, I really wish Norman would have kept the goblin helmet.
I am just so glad that the people who worked on this movie put much more focus on the story and characters than the humor, like other Marvel projects tend to do. I was happy to see other villains of Spider-Man appear in the movie and portrayed by the same actors from the previous movies. However, it gave me the impression that the "Sinister Six" might happen, which didn't because there were only five of Spider-Man's villains - which I have to admit, was kind of a bummer.
What was the best part, of course, was seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprise their roles as their respective versions of Spider-Man. When you see them interact with each other, you really do see the way they would interact with each other. All three Peter Parkers had great chemistry together, despite only working together for a short amount of time. And I could see that the creators wanted to give each Peter Parker a right amount of time whenever they were on screen together. One of my favorite parts was how Andre and Tom's Pater were like envious of how Tobey's Peter could shoot organic webbing. Though I did think that the farewell between the three Peters could have been just a little more heartfelt. And I seriously hope that they meet one another again.
Adventure Beast (2021)
Season One: Entertaining Enough
To me, this series was actually quite fun and entertaining...for the most part. I was glad to see how entertaining they made education, because its not very easy to do. I especially liked to see that the main character personally interacted with the animals, and told you things you most likely didn't know about them - heck, I saw animal I haven't seen before. My favorite characters were BTG and Bonnie; they were smart and funny, and while they enjoyed the same things, they were different enough to make them fun enough to watch.
The only one I absolutely hated was Dietrich. He was absolutely useless. The guy was a loser, a coward, and just a paranoid good for nothing! If he was cautious and the voice of reason, that would have made him a much better character! But everything about him was just...hopelessly pathetic! If he does return in the second season, if seriously hope its only for a limited time and they get someone much more interesting for the group; like a sexy partner for Bonnie.
I also have to say that Danny Wilde was also a character I despice! It was completely obvious that the guy didn't know what he was talking about!
Inside Job (2021)
Season One: New But Still The Same
While this series can be funny and entertaining to watch, it still has plenty of things we've seen plenty of times before. The only smart person surrounded by incompetent, lazy, amateurs. Plus, the nice guy who is very naive and also not very bright. As well as the terrible parents with the toxic relationship but are still kept around. And of course the corrupted government officials. There is also plenty of lewd or adult humor, but it doesn't really on it too much like "Hoops" did. Not to say that it's a bad show, because it isn't. It's only the first season, so it's most likely still trying to find itself.
But I did enjoy seeing that the little character development over the episodes, and the relationship between Reagan and Brett (and hope they eventually become a couple). I also liked to see that most of the character were different, despite them all pretty much being comic reliefs. However, Reagan still having her toxic family in her life is completely on her - just because they're your blood relatives, doesn't make them your family. If there really is a second season, I hope there is more character development and the relationship between Reagan and Brett flourishes.
Candyman (2021)
"An Almost Complete Disappointment"
I have to say that while I'm not a fan of the Candyman franchise, the original had a superior story telling. In the original the focus was about the urban legend itself, while in this one...the focus is social commentary, and Candyman is more of a secondary character. The story of Candyman wasn't about white people against black people; even though it did show that in the previous stories. Candyman kills anyone who summons him, no matter what the color of their skin was. And I hated that they added that there was more than only one Candyman - if they were going to do that, they should have made it like the original Candyman (Daniel Robitaille) chose others to do his work while they were alive, and became Candyman once Daniel Robitaille was in complete possession - that would have given the final movie scene much more sense. They shouldn't have used a new Candyman (Sherman Fields) for the majority of the role, because he didn't delivery the tragic and sinister nature that Tony Todd did. Plus, why have Anthony McCoy say the iconic line, when you have the original reprising his role? And when Tony Todd was seen, it wasn't until the end, and the one line he was given...was terrible. If anything, his line should have been, "It is time...for my masterpiece." That line to me isn't only better, but it also leaves room for a possible sequel.
It wasn't scary, it was suspenseful, the music was pretty bad, and I didn't like the font that they used for the title and credits. The acting, directing, and visual styles were superior in this movie, but that's pretty much about it. Another thing that was bad, was that there wasn't any good chemistry between Anthony and Brianna - they acted like a couple who just started dating, and not people who have known each other for years. Plus, why did they have to make it seem like all white people were treating others unfairly? While I'm sure that some places they still do that, we live in a time where people judge you on your action and attitude, not the color of your skin! There is a right way to address the issues our Country faces, but when you do it in a way where you piling all at once...people refuse to pay attention.
While I can say that I'm proud of the people who did a rather descent job, it's still a bad movie. I don't want to sound harsh, but I'm completely disappointed in Jordan Peele. I find it very strange how bad a job he did with this project, because he usually blends social commentary with horror very well.
Missing Link (2019)
"Fun, Funny and Entertaining To Watch"
This movie was just about right in every category. The voice acting, the stop-motion animation, the directing, the designs, the music, the editing - it was all done wonderfully. I especially enjoyed the humor they used, as well as not shying away from getting a little dark and serious from time to time. I can definitely say that it was well balanced with the humor and dark tones throughout the movie. And the voice casting was incredible.
However, I have to admit that most of the story was quite predictable: The good man wants to fit into a society filled with jerks, only to discover it isn't where he belongs. And the good natured creature who finds a home with the people he's with. As well as the old spark between the man and woman that's still there.
Still, I wish more kid movies were like this.
Q-Force (2021)
"Not Bad...Still Needs A Little More Work."
The show isn't bad, but it could have been a little better. I will say that the animation is beautiful, the voice acting was good, the story was okay and the characters were quite interesting. I suppose the series was still trying to find itself. If there's more seasons to come, there needs to more character development, better story telling - which include overcoming struggles and tragedies.
There is still plenty of room for improvement: Steve Maryweather (wish his surname was "Mayweather") could have been bisexual, since both Stat and Deb are already lesbians. Heck, Twink may be a drag-queen but even he prefers the company of men. V could have also been Steve's lover, as well as his mentor. Also, Twink was a bit too much like a drama queen and a little too flamboyant. Him being feminine and emotional is fine, but he really needed to tone it down a bit. And while Wanda Sykes is a good actress, I don't think she was the right voice for the character. Stat...she needed much more personality, and the haircut she had (as well as other female characters are getting) is ridiculous. Plus, Steve could have just acted like a normal guy; that in no way means that he has to be macho, gross and sexists, but also not too emotional and feminine.
Also, if they're going to be graphic with the "man-on-man sex", they shouldn't shy with the "woman-on-woman sex"; even "hetero".
HouseBroken (2021)
"It's Not The Best, It's Not The Worst...It's Just Okay."
I have to say that this show was pretty fun to watch. All the characters were interesting in their own way, and they were all different. It can be quite funny at times, even though the places you see are a little limited. Most of the characters I really enjoy seeing, as well as the issues they have to deal with on a daily bases. Elsa is possibly my favorite because I think she has the most personality, and I'm a sucker for corgis; though I do wish she would find some love in her life. I also enjoy Armando the coyote, even though he had the least screen time in the first season. I'm not too big a fan of Honey because she was always giving others advise, when there was still plenty of things she still needed to work out herself.
However, there are three characters I do not care for at all in the series: Jill, Chief and Diablo. Jill is a bad therapist because she's afraid of confrontation; but a therapist whole purpose is to advise patience on how to confront their problems - she is also best friend with a woman who is emotionally unstable, and keeps her toxic mother in her life. Diablo is just down right annoying and scared of pretty much everything, and sounds like he actually has "no balls". Chief, to me, is the worst character of the three - dumb, hyperactive and weird; while good intended, he is not mate material, heck, he admits that he only wishes to be a pup!
The relationship between Honey and Chief is that of "brother and sister", not "romantic" in any way! I get that differences are important, and opposites attract, but they always make it seem like you have to be polar opposites in order for things to work out. That's not it at all, two beings need to have things in common so there can be a mutual attraction. Throughout the entire first season, its been shown that Armando is the one for Honey, because he's shown to have the most in common with her; even though he's a wild animal. I really hate that the first season ended with Honey choosing Chief (the one she has nothing in common with).
I guess the first season is trying to find itself. I just really wish the ending of the first season could have been better.
Scoob! (2020)
"It's not good, it's not terrible, it's still pretty bad...it could have been done much better."
I was not impressed with this movie. While the animation was good, it was not going to save this movie. Most of the jokes weren't funny, the story was all over the place, the pacing was too fast (almost as if they were trying to get it over with), there were too many characters in place, and no time for character development. The voice acting was pretty good for most of the characters. However, most of the characters were used as comic reliefs, and it just doesn't work if all characters are used for laughs. Because when there are dramatic moments you can't take it seriously, because there was too much goofing off. The Rottens, Blue Falcon, The Scooby Gang, they were all used for laughs and nothing more. Dick Dastardly was the most interesting character in the movie - which is bad, because the best part of any Scooby movie should be Scooby-Doo and the gang!
The studio was playing it safe, and made the movie too kid friendly. They shouldn't make something as classic as Scooby-Doo only for children. And they shouldn't be afraid to go a little dark - like they did on "Zombie Island". They also shouldn't shy away from using just a little more adult humor. I also don't know why they made Velma Hispanic; if they were going for adversity, it didn't really work because it just made her stand out (in the "not fitting in with the all white group" kind of way). Plus, why was there no romantic chemistry between Fred and Daphne throughout the film? The only chemistry I saw was the one Daphne got with that ridiculous toy-robot. And Fred needed a much better personality - like he did in the original projects, and not just be the jock who was the last person to find things out. The bickering between Shaggy and Scooby also seemed pointless and unnecessary, like it was happening just to be there. Brain (a.k.a. Blue Falcon) was the worst part of the movie: selfish, shallow, cowardly and egotistical - everything a superhero is not supposed to be!
I mean, where was the planning, where was the hard work, where were the clever traps, and where was the mystery that came with Mystery Inc.? There were just too many other characters and too many different things happening. Don't get me wrong, a shared Hanna-Barbera animated multiverse sounds awesome, but they should have done it the way the MCU did - each universe is its own project that eventually leads to all or most coming together. Heck that's what the DCEU is also doing this, and doing a rather good job. Every planned crossover should at least star in its own movie first. They also needed much better music. I also didn't like how they modernized Scooby's theme song.
I also hate that Officer Jaffe wasn't real. I know it's dumb, but I absolutely believe that a beautiful woman should have their own movie - along with the other police officers who are named after the original voice actors of the Scooby Gang. And as good an actor as Will Forte is, he wasn't the right choice for Shaggy. They really should have stuck with Matthew Lillard. The people really should have taken inspirations from the movie "Zombie Island" and the series "Mystery Incorporated".
