Fast X (2023)
The Dark Knight meets Family!
I understand the hate. But curse you guys, you lowered the bar so much, I actually liked it a bit, to the tune of 7/10.
Why the high rating you may ask? Because Dante is the Joker to Dom's Batman. Honestly, the best villain of the series, and we had the Shaw brothers, the Brazilian drug lord, the Miami drug lord... Japanese thugs, Chinese thugs...and he tops them all, even the perennial Chpher, . Jason Momoa was the best part of the movie, and that's saying something. All his plans seem to work, and he only wants the world to burn. Heck, there are some scenes that seem taken from the Nolan movie.
The rest of the ensemble? Nice. And I like some ties with the previous movie, specially the Shaw scene.
Oddly decent.
The Gift (2000)
This should have been a Bad Movie but....
When you get a convincing antagonist out of Keanu Reeves, who I hated for much of this movie.
When you get Gary Cole at the peak of his powers, post Ofrice Space.
When Greg Kinnear makes you want to root for him, like that ever happens.
When Chelcie Ross is a sympathetic character.
When you get the same quality acting out if Cate Blanchett, JK Simmons AND Hillary Swank.
When Giovanni Ribisi is making a weird, flawed character.
And,...when the murder victim is the insufferable Katie Holmes, when she was still in Dawson's Creek and pre-Cruise???
This was a solid 5 for how predictable it was, but for all these reasons, I bump it to 7.
Falling for Christmas (2022)
Not Even Heartwarming
It is oblivious for me how people are giving +7 stars to this movie. Netflix is making fun of their audiences by now, and to be honest, it does not surprise me. Bad script, horrible acting, bad casting, the editing is horrendous. Christmas movies have a warm feeling to say the least, but everything in this movie feels pushed, and this comes from the same studios that brought us Operation Christmas Drop.
I wanted this movie to be decent. Have always rooted for LyLo, but she brings nothing to the table to a movie that doesn't even had anything on the table to begin with. I am being polite with a 3/10 rating.
This rating is due to my wife watching it, and making me her accomplice for the whole movie.
The Office: Branch Wars (2007)
Peak The Office Comedy...
At least up til then. I an currently binge watching The Office (had seen it before, but not binged), and the moment when Jim talks with Michael and Dwight thru the walkie-talkie and Karen finds them...laughed so hard that I re-watched it a several times.
The rating DOES NOT do justice.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
A WNBA Commercial
No wonder nobody watches the WNBA. Them girls gotta do their own thing without minding men. Wanted not to loathe the movie, but couldn't. MJ wouldn't have stooped so low.
The New Mutants (2020)
ATJ is awesome
Everyone is playing checkers, including my Maise Williams, Anna Taylor is playing checkers. All I need to say.
Decent superhero film full of nobodies, so it has that going for it.
Could've done without the woke message, but lesbians are somewhat tolerable for me.
Rick and Morty: Rickdependence Spray (2021)
That Time Rick n Morty went Woke
It was all a matter of time. When wholesome entertainment strays from their sole purpose and starts middling in politics, you get the worse episode of the show so far. I'm currently watching. Hope it doesn't gets worse than this.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
A self-aware movie that still fails to its expectations
I really wanted to enjoy this movie. I did my best. Just couldn't. Enjoyed that the Wachowskis could actually create another layer to the Matrix mythos. Also that the movie was self-concious in several scenes. Those we're the highlights.
The downside? Weak characthers, poor action sequences (worse than anything 20 years prior), and made a joke of major storyline themes.
The unforgivable? The One is not the TWO. And when will Hollywood stop politicizing everything. Good God.
Bugsy (1991)
Very good film, but can't get past historical inaccuracies
I enjoyed the acting of Bening, Kingsley and Keitel. Much more than the overacting of Beatty, which did not detract from the movie.
Nevertheless, with so much information on the history of this character, it was lazy to have so many historical faults. If they had done their homework I would have given it an 8, just because I was not a fan of this being a romantic flick.
Very few gangster biographies hit the mark, guess I was hoping for something impossible.
Noah (2014)
I really did my best...
But this movie is awful. Lacks coherence from its source material, whichever you choose. Only one scene was half decent, and it still lacked substance (Jennifer Conelly arguing with our main man in an pool of tears). What a waste of time, but I had to see it through, hoping it will redeem itself.
I understood another weird DA movie (Mother!), but this was unforgivable.
The Degenerates (2018)
People that get offended shouldn't watch this show.
I started on season two, and before I started saw all the IMDB scores for each episode. Donnell Rawlings (S2:E5) had the lowest rating. I knew inmediately that must have been the best one of all (it was). It was the most offensive. Kudos to the producers for the idea. Shame on people that don't have a sense of humor for rating this show.
Oxygène (2021)
Netflix should just make Sci-Fi
Very pleased with this entry. Excellent acting by Melani Laurent, and although it is a claustrophobic film, it didn't make me uncomfortable like others.
Next Gen (2018)
Im Baffled
This was a win win situation, yet this movie was such a huge let down. Guess they spend all their ideas in graphics and design, but nothing on plot. The movie was an 8 til mid point at least. After that it had no idea of plotline or substance.
