Who Is Alice (2017)

Great flick
12 September 2017
I like this kind of humour! A bit dark and awkward, very funny. The switches reminded me of The Matrix and Inception, but it's done in an original way. Especially at the end, that has never been done before. I am familiar with the philosophy of non duality which they are talking about in the film. If you've never heard of non duality before, I'm not sure you will understand it in the end. But what I do like, is that they even make fun of that philosophy. It's a nice combination of a few insights and comedy, with original switches.

Strange, non-linear, psychological thriller
1 April 2017
Bottom of the World is an strange, spellbinding film, because it is one of those rare films that doesn't contain a blatant plot; there's multiple unexpected plot twists and shifts where you are held strictly responsible for paying very close attention and attempt devise an idea of what's actually happening throughout the film. Jena Malone is great at portraying a woman's spiral into mental anguish brought on by guilt from an act of terrible violence. The underlying religious themes run strong. That's just my theory.

Hursit (2015)
10/10
Cute movie
8 January 2016
I liked the idea of this movie and the way it deals with discrimination and intolerance. The main character Hursit is just a boy, but he is much smarter than the adults who are filled with hate and antagonism toward different ethnicities or religions. Hursit, which means Sun, "enlightens" his friends and everyone around him, with tolerance by being a good young man who got rid of discrimination and prejudices. Because in the end it all comes down are you a good person or a bad one, and not in which God you believe or are you Syrian, or Turkish.

I also must mention the acting in the movie which is surprisingly good for a short film. The boy who acts as Hursit is really talented and gave a wonderful performance. Mutlucan Kahveci did an outstanding work and his character is both believable and very likable. Director chose some awesome scenes from Cappadocia for his shots and I have enjoyed watching that incredible ambiance on the screen. The plot of the movie is not too complex but it carries a very important message and I recommend this little cute movie to everybody!

Pixies (2015)

A Really Funny Comedy
11 December 2015
Shortly after watching this incredible movie I feel that it's proper to say that others will enjoy watching it too. There can be nothing more suitable for movie watchers these days like the Pixies movie. It has lots of charm and keeps you entertained even if you're not the type that likes animated comedies. First of all the use of humor is at its best, and it's so funny to see the character of Joe Beck being unlucky and his life being ruined by some pixies on a daily basis. What is so special about this movie is that it doesn't have any toilet humor like the other comedies that people have seen. After a while stuff like that becomes boring, and this movie has a better type of humor in the form of pranks. I also like the message that the movie sends, which is that vengeance is never good and that matters should always be solved diplomatically. Although there are some people in the audience who dislike the fact that the concepts of revenge and war are introduced into a cartoon-like movie for kids, this is not a big deal for the vast majority whatsoever. It is but another great element of the film because it appeals to everybody of all ages, and best of all to the kids.

Olympus: The Lexicon (2015)
Season 1, Episode 6
9/10
Almighty Greece
29 June 2015
This episode is an improvement considerably since I didn't like any of the other episodes of Olympus that I watched. Finally some emotion from the actors. More importantly though there is a sense that the story of Olympus is soon coming to a close. Now it's a battle between good and evil as is often seen in movies and TV shows. My prediction is that it will be Hero versus the villainous Queen Medea and her minions. This was fun to watch and this time the fight scenes were really full of action. Every bit of this episode was entertaining so I for one have no complaints. The technology was better utilized to show lots of special effects. In my opinion this is the best episode of season one and I think many people out there would have fun watching it. And if it's this good on the first season I can only imagine how marvelous the second season will be.

Altar (2014)

Altar is really intriguing film
27 April 2015
Altar is really intriguing film, and so far I have watched and felt that true horror within. First to all of my friends out there who know me and how I am it's very difficult to scare someone like me. I am sorry to say that I for one am not easily amused and most of the horrors I watch have an adverse effect on me. Personally after watching some of the horrors in the past such as Omen four I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. However the recent one that I saw called Altar was clearly no laughing matter. Far from that I felt reasonably chilled and frightened by the prospect of a sacrificial altar upon which someone died. Altar has captured my interests unlike any other horror movie in the past. Most horror films just rely on scare tactics and all sorts of unnecessary things like ghouls and ghosts. In the horror movie Altar all you need is the haunting presence of one ghost that will soon enough destroy the entire mansion that this family is temporarily living in. I would rate this movie mostly eight out of ten just because I feel like the film should've been a little bit longer.

Olympus with an Uppercase E for Epic
18 April 2015
The new Syfy channel adventure series Olympus looks like 300 as shot for a green-screen-heavy eyesore that still manages to charm for being so devotedly shoddy. It takes talent to make such an uppercase-"e" epic, which begins with our pretty-boy hero — named Hero (Tom York), natch — waking up in the underground cavern of a towering cyclops with a severed-foot fetish. After the well-placed throw of a bladed boomerang, Hero escapes and finds, in a nearby grotto, three imprisoned women, one of whom is an Oracle (Sonya Cassidy) he's been searching for. In my opinion Olympus is the best modern Greek drama that we have seen thus far. I myself cannot understand so much of the negative commentary I have heard on the internet from some of the audience members. I have watched the first episode in its entirety and have not picked up any of the notions that it was somehow a Greek tragedy like some of the viewers have previously asserted. In fact it was fun, exciting, and suspenseful at the same time. Now my advice for future viewers is to make up your own mind and see the episode for yourself before you form your own opinion. Just because something is written on the internet doesn't mean it's true and it doesn't give it any special validity either. Bottom line it was so good that if I could I would go back and watch it all over again without hesitation.
