She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Is This Not Real Magic? (2022)
Still boring but it does do something so I gave it 5 stars.
I have rated this 5 stars because this episode has got me intrigued. There was an actual element of mystery and did not feel like a filler episode. Maybe now it's heading in the right direction? I'm still not sure. Let's see what episode 5 brings. Anyone who's a fan of The Sopranos earns my approval, I'm looking at you Wong.
However, it's still a mediocre show and just doesn't build up the hero She Hulk properly and in an interesting way.
They kind of lowered Wong's character to new lows in my opinion. I had so much respect for the Sorcerer Supreme and Marvel is destroying that respect.
Credits given where credit is due, there is one moment where they show the hell realm and the use of a deal with a supernatural being. So are they actually going to introduce Mephisto, and how?
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adar (2022)
An improvement-ish? I'm still bored. Baby steps I guess?
Credits to the cameramen, to the technicians, to all the people who made this look visually stunning, a big well done and lots of respect. However, I can't respect the writers for this show. The dialogue is incredibly boring and laughably cringe. All the actors were given a terrible script by two mediocre writers with no experience in something this grand. It's like giving a luxurious car to a toddler. It's a terrible shame. This show could have been something truly beautiful, the potential was there.
I was trying to stay awake the whole time but nothing saved me from that. Some of the dialogue made me laugh. Tolkien is rolling in his grave. Give the actors a good script and you'll have a better story combined with good visuals, which becomes a masterpiece. It's a miss.
House of the Dragon: Second of His Name (2022)
Wow this show has really gotten better!! What an episode!
I was pleasantly surprised and definitely entertained to a degree where I was shocked by how fast the time went by. This series really got going with this episode. I genuinely cannot wait for episode 4!!
This episode definitely is far better than the first two in pace, in tone and in structure. I really love the irony where Rhaynera kills a boar and King Viserys kills a stag, something that signifies later years, Robert's Rebellion. Although the king kills the stag, a Targaryen killing a stag (Baratheon), during Robert's Rebellion it is Robert Baratheon (stag) that kills Targaryens that time around.
The dialogue was immaculate and truly immersed me with the story. The visuals looked stunning, despite the one small CGI mistake with Viserys' hand at one point.
I like how the storyline of Game of Thrones is quickly approaching with Aegon Targaryen being born and Jason Lannister being there, who is Tytos' younger brother and uncle to Tywin Lannister!
The battle at the Stepstones was nail-biting and at times over-the-top, but still masterful. Matt Smith does a fantastic job conveying anger while also having this mysterious presence. What will he do next? The choreography and thought-out battle strategy was something that really excited me and kept me engaged. I can't wait for more of that.
This series truly has huge potential to be excellent! I will definitely be tuning in for episode 4 next week!!
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: The People vs. Emil Blonsky (2022)
This is too on the nose. Why can't we enjoy a good written story anymore?
I only gave it 2 stars because it's the MCU and had Wong in it. This show is just garbage. Why can't we enjoy a good written story anymore?
This has too many on the nose moments in it that make your eyes roll at record speeds. I don't like this show so far because the fact that the lead character has to keep annoyingly reminding us that it's her show is simply too much.
Feige, what are you doing?? The MCU is being destroyed, what are you going to do about it? I don't even want to continue watching this show because I'm already taken out of it. This will be my only review and until it gets better and I start seeing some improvements I shall refrain from seeing anything Marvel related.
House of the Dragon: The Rogue Prince (2022)
The Game of Thrones intro is back and a war is brewing!
What an episode!
I was drawn in more than before with the oncoming war that is brewing within House Targaryen.
At some points I could see what was coming a mile away. The scene where Rhaynera flies in on her dragon to Dragon Stone to talk her brother Daemon out of keeping Balon's dragon egg was a little too obvious. However the execution of the story so far is well made and my hopes of this series becoming my new favourite weekly show are looking up.
There is a small mistake when at the end when Rhaynera storms away from the King's Council there is a blue-screen that is visible at the doorway where she was headed. Someone must have missed that in post.
The mention of the Iron Islands excited me as it means that we could eventually see a sea battle ensue in the coming weeks.
The acting was great in this episode and I am looking forward to see the next episode.
House of the Dragon: The Heirs of the Dragon (2022)
I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised!
I admit I was sceptical and thought the show was going to suck when I saw the trailer and went to watch episode 1 thinking it would be the same as all the other flops of late. I was pleasantly surprised by how stunning and how well paced this first episode was. Count me as invested. I will be waiting eagerly for the next episode.
I didn't think that they would immediately name Rhaenyra as the Princess Heir to the Iron Throne this early but the execution of it was actually really good.
I had some qualms with some of the CGI of the dragons, looked a little fake here and there but over all the story is not heavily focusing on the dragons but it explores deeper themes that have already made me excited for what's to come.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Thaw (2022)
Another solid episode! Bring on the Next one!
So all those Titans who had Zeke's fluid ended up losing their Titans and all the hardening was undone! So Annie's Back!
The episode really does a great job at evoking the different sides in a war, where you have a Marleyan with Eldian blood interacting and risking her life for an Eldian. "The devil is in all of us" this hits hard especially when you realize that even though Eren wants to keep everyone he loves safe he still is losing them by destroying his own humanity and going after everyone instead of only the military or the politicians who caused it.
Now we get to see Annie's reaction to all that has happened, I'm so excited!
Cannot wait for the next one! This felt like a 5-minute episode even though it was 20mins. Sunday cannot arrive here quicker!
Shingeki no Kyojin: From You, 2000 Years Ago (2022)
WHAT A GRAND EPISODE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!
I really loved the intro of this episode where you get an inside knowledge of how Ymir became a slave to King Fritz and how the walls were built. The episode left me speechless and in awe to the grand scale of events that unfold! THE RUMBLING HAS STARTED!! Eren has won apparently as he takes Ymir's gargantuan Titan form. The question remains however, is Eren really a bad guy now? He is going to destroy the world as it seems. Armin seems to think that he will just destroy the Marley base. With that many Colossal Titans I think it is safe to say that Eren plans to eradicate all those who are not subjects of Ymir. I CANNOT WAIT THIS LONG FOR EPISODE 22!!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Memories of the Future (2022)
HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED!
WOW! What a reacharound of an episode!!! Such an emotional journey through the past. This episode was a solid one from start to finish! Stop Eren? What is happening? What a cliffhanger once again!! Finally the truth is revealed! The momories of the future can only be inherited by those who have the Attack Titan!! I had tears seeing nine-year old Eren again, such a nostalgic moment! Can't wait for the next one!!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Two Brothers (2022)
What a jaw-dropping episode!! The unexpected!!
I really did not see that coming! Eren beheaded left me speechless! This series keeps making twist after twist and it never deviates from making it exciting! I was sad to see Falco become a titan and never being with Gabi. GABI just comes out of nowhere and blasts Eren's head off! I was about to flip the screen! This left me in shock!! I can't believe how it came to this. I suspect that Eren will regenerate back to his former state? Or Zeke will take over? WHAT'S GOING ON? Tgis episode just ends with the most huge cliffhanger in the history of Attack on Titan! You'd think that Eren would actually continue the fighting but the twist is that Zeke controls the Founder in this one and only wanted to hear Eren's true feelings about his plan. Now Eren is shackled as Zeke takes his powers and the founder's powers as well!! I cannot begin to express how excited I am for the next episode!! Please I want the next episode NOW! What will happen to Eren, Falco and Zeke now?
Mass (2021)
Such a tense, beautiful and profound story!
I saw this film by a recommendation, and came out wondering why it was not given its much deserved attention!
Jason Isaacs' performance in this is astounding! Even though this entire movie is set in a room at a church community centre, the whole film felt weighty and extremely important. Kranz delivers such a heartfelt message with this film aimed towards the grief of loosing a loved one and dealing with the fallout despite the circumstances.
There was such tension in the room between the four people, they all did a marvelous job at portraying grieving parents from both sides. At first you wouldn't know what they are talking about until they mention their son. However you would still not know what exactly they are talking about or what happened. Then when all is revealed in the end that it was about a kid who shot up a school and those are the grieving parents of the victims and of the shooter it really hit hard!
Martha Plimpton is a great actress and does a phenomenal job, perfectly portraying a grieving mother, you could feel the grief in her voice. This ultimately is about forgiveness with the intent of moving on and not losing ourselves in the process of grief. The sharing of stories about their son was really emotional and elevated the film even more.
I highly recommend this film!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Sneak Attack (2022)
This show keeps us all wanting more!
The build-up towards such a cliffhanger is something that Attack on Titan does really well! This episode yet again delivers! It kept me at the edge of my seat and I just want to see more! I love this show so much!
I can't believe that Zeke is defeated yet again, the tension and crescendo of Eren and Zeke meeting slowly slowly just heightened the episode for me! This does feel like a final season! The stakes have never been higher! I'm really curious to see how it all ends and in what fashion.
The part where Falco professes his love to Gabi took me by surprise as well as her reaction towards it. I hope they explore that further.
Looking forward to the next episode next week!
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
At first I was sceptical. Until I watched the first episode.
The first time I heard about this show was when I was not into anime until I was told by my friends that I should try it and that I'm missing out.
To tell you the truth, I was really missing out and I'm greatful that I have been recommended this series! I remember watching the first episode and being all sceptical that I wouldn't like it, however from that moment the Colossal Titan attacked Wall Maria I was absolutely hooked!
It's quite an extraordinary and emotional journey if one watches this series episodically on a daily basis. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, it was something rare! I can't believe how perfect and intricate this series' plot is. There are so many twists and the stakes are raised everytime which ultimately always leads to an emotional payoff at the end of every season!!
I'd recommend this series to anyone and I'd thank my friends for recommending this one and for being so annoying about it. I wouldn't change a thing! I'd give anything to be able to relive the experience of watching it all over again for the first time!!
Go watch it! If you haven't, you're missing out and shame on you, (according to my friends).
Shingeki no Kyojin: Judgment (2022)
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!
What a solid opener to the final season! I was waiting all year for this to start, episode 16 ended on a huge cliffhanger. Just when I thought I was out they pull me right back in! Everything seems desperate now with Marley invading and Eren in grave mortal danger!! (Not that it's a good thing) I love it! Can't wait to see some twists and turns in this final season! I'm all for it!! I love how this show raises the stakes everytime, it just leads to a greater payoff in the end!
Hawkeye: So This Is Christmas? (2021)
Um we gotta talk :/
Good start but then it started to get all convoluted. I can't believe they did Kingpin like that. Vincent did a great job but the way he was handled in this episode fell flat. I can't believe they shot him off screen. So he's done for? What about the potential Daredevil and Spider-Man clashes with him? I really felt cheated when the musical came up at the end. The musical looked flashy and great but it really didn't have anything to do with the tone of this series. Yelena felt annoying in this one too, at the end they kinda saved her again because her character was slipping for me. I can't believe that there's a Spider-Man now and he wasn't present in this even though there was a lot of chaos in New York!! Most of the dialogue in this episode just didn't work, it felt rushed and flat. I'm glad they won't make a second season for this. Or if they do another season, please do better.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
This movie STANDS OUT from its predecessors!!
Yes, Andrew and Tobey are in this!!!! I have had the privilege of seeing this in IMAX real3D and the experience was like no other! I loved every second of this masterpiece! This has heart, humor at the right moments, great score, every villain had a reason for their actions. Every moment felt deserved and had so much meaning. I went to see this with low expectations and without having seen any leaks or coverages of leaks. I was crying
with happiness of seeing Andrew and Tobey!! I was in utter disbelief and awe!! Sony and Marvel have pulled it off!!! The death of Aunt May made me cry and admire how well written the whole movie was! This definitely feels different from the normal Homecoming or Far From Home!
Willem Dafoe kills it with his performance in this one! I think that he actually is a superior Green Goblin to his first ever debut!
Andrew Garfield outshined the trio with his charismatic charm however Tom Holland's Peter Parker finally grew up! He is now officially the comic accurate spiderman that we all love! He even made the ultimate sacrifice of letting everyone forget who he is! He also made his own suit too!! Looking forward to see more of Tom Holland's Spiderman as well as Andrew's and Tobey Maguire's spiderman!
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone! And I will definitely go and see it again!!
Dune (2021)
Bring on Part 2!!
This was Part 1 of probably multiple parts of a franchise that has the potential of being top tier quality cinema.
After reviewing the trailer for this masterpiece I went in this movie not knowing anything about Arrakis or Spice or anything about Dune lore. I had heard that it inspired Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones so my interest was peaked.
I have always enjoyed Villeneuve's films, they have a particular style to them that just works. Dune Part One was that kind of film to me. I was immersed in the gargantuan epic scale of the visuals as well as how the story progressed. The flow just worked. Combined with Hans Zimmer's appropriate soundtrack which was definitely in his element of music choice. The music certainly set the correct tone for this masterpiece.
The cast was beautiful and just right for the roles they were playing. Timothée Chalamet stunned me with his powerful acting portraying the role of Paul Atreides. Zendaya does a marvelous job at not being Zendaya and actually made me interested as to who Chani was. Chani is barely in the film because this is only the first part and Paul Atreides finally meets her in the last few minutes of this film. Even though we see only glimpses of her through dreams, she still left an impression at the end.
Jason Mamoa's Duncan Idaho was a fun, charismatic and charming character which left an everlasting impression as well. I actually felt emotionally attached to this character especially when he dies as sacrifice in order to aid Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) to escape the Harkonnens. I actually was seeing Duncan Idaho and not Jason Mamoa, that is what it felt like.
The rest of the cast was fantastic, the Emperor was really menacing and definitely sold me the notion that he must go. Bill Skarsgard does an amazing job at this role, simply scary and true to the lore I must add.
Seeing the scale of which the director filmed this, mesmerized me as well as kept me engaged with the flow of the story. I was absolutely gob-smacked by the sheer scale of the Dune giant sandworm Shai-Hulud. It felt like I, the viewer, was actually there and it was truly a terrifying yet beautiful sight to behold!
I am really glad I saw this movie in a cinema and not at home for this was definitely one of the best cinematic experiences to date. Cannot wait for Dune Part Two! Go see this film in theatres, you will not be disappointed!
Eternals (2021)
Does not deserve the low Rotten Tomato Score!
Pretty blown away by the bold choices that Chloé Zhao makes here! It does have its flaws but not necessarily fundamental flaws, more like convolutedness of the story at times. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I went in this movie with low expectations and got out pretty amazed. I loved this movie! Go watch it and stay for the two post-credit scenes at the end!!
Loki (2021)
I was in tears, I enjoyed this one! This is definitely the best one!
I am already so much in love with this series and it's just the FIRST EPISODE!! I really love the dynamic of both Loki and Morbius, it definitely WORKS!!! PLUS you'd get to see some of the sad bits from Infinity War and Thor. I can't wait for the second one!!
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Power Broker (2021)
Good cameo at the end!
Felt slow paced at times but over all it's a good Episode.
The cameo is a Wakandan General who meets Bucky in Austria. Can't wait for the next one.
WandaVision: Previously On (2021)
Great Emmy worthy episode! MCU tugging at our heartstrings!
I love how they explained how wanda created sitcom reality through pain and suppressed trauma all so that she could live in her and Vision's dream house and town of Westview. It was kinda sad to be honest.
This sets up the finale of Wandavision, I really loved Agatha's backstory. I found this episode very fillery but satisfying nonetheless, they are saving the good stuff for later. However I did cry a bunch of times throughout this amazing Episode. It was such a powerful and emotional moment when Wanda in her ceaseless grief created this Sitcom reality emanating her sorrow into the dream that she and Vision have talked about in their love relationship.
Colourless Vision is Hayward's weapon?? I hope he isn't the guy that Paul Bettany teased us hahaha him fighting himself. I doubt that though.
Wanda finally becomes the Scarlet Witch officially in the MCU, this really set up her backstory and her arc is yet to be revealed in the finale. She is really powerful however Agatha is more powerful since she can drain magic and life.
Can't wait for the finale!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy (2020)
Speechless!! Just WOW!!
So I am speechless therefore I have no words for such a majestic episode, all I can say is that I didn't see it coming!!! Amazing episode yet again Mr Favreau!!
Fargo: Storia Americana (2020)
An astonishing end to a great season!
What a fitting end to such a masterful season 4! You got to hand it to them but this was hands down a great ending to a season that did not have such a good intro but overall it pulled through to shine as a great season 4 as a whole! Cannot wait what they do next with Fargo. I highly recommend this series to anyone!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 13: The Jedi (2020)
Keeps getting more and more EPIC!!!
Favreau, I bow down to you sir, you are hereby ghe Star Wars King! I really was pleasantly surprised in this episode, such a great intro, middle and end!! Long but the very best episode! Keep them coming! 😌
Fargo: Happy (2020)
Brilliant!!!
Well done!! Really great job!! This was a purposeful episode, loved it!! Can't wait for the finale!!!!
