Laker Girls (1990 TV Movie)
Not bad made for TV movie
18 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Only reason I bought DVD of this is because I am a huge Shari Shattuck fan. Who along with another gal: Lisa Ort end up being the most memorable. Shari for playing the sexy, scheming Laker girl and Lisa for playing the goofy girl who just wants to meet a nice dentist to marry and have 3 kids.

Alexandra Paul, Paris Vaughn and Tina Yothers are the 3 main girls though. And they do okay in their roles, but they all play nice characters so they get a bit boring to watch.

Movie could've benefited from some conflict or drama, maybe even a bit sexier numbers, but for a made-for-TV movie from 25 years ago, it isn't bad.

Drifter (I) (2014)
Loved it!
21 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This was everything a low budget horror flick should be: fun, sexy, and bloody! Featuring an ending I honestly did not see coming.

In it, several folks keep entering a home that is up for sale and never come back out. A mysterious Drifter has taken refuge inside and pretty soon proceeds to whack everyone who enters!

I suggest NOT watching the preview as it gives away some of the deaths. This is definitely a Horror flick for adults only as several cast members (both male and female) undress or have sex before getting killed by the Drifter.

If you love No-Budget Horrors like I do, you must check it out!

Severance (1988)
Cover is misleading.
31 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The cover to this movie features a woman in a very skimpy outfit and the back-cover describes it as an action/suspense flick. Unfortunately the movie isn't the sleaze-fest the cover promises and there isn't much action. This really is a drama.

Plot: After her mother dies in a car accident a little girl grows up to be a stripper.

Most of the movie is about the Father trying to get close to her. There's also a subplot about the Father being a driver for illegal businesses.

The movie briefly comes to life when the mentioned woman performs an okay dance number at the strip club and at the very end when some people get shot. Sadly not much happens.

Like I said, this movie really is a drama. The acting was okay, the actor playing the Father did well in his role.

The Sleeper (2012)
Really wanted to like it more...
6 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
If you are not a fan of micro-budget flicks stay away, if you don't like slasher flicks also stay away. That being said, this was a somewhat fun feature, I get what they were trying to do, but something was missing in my humble opinion.

I thought the stalking scenes of the victims were pretty good and the FX equally good, however every time we had scenes with the detective I was bored and the ending was not as good as it could it been. I know probably due to budget budget constraints.

It had the right ingredients: somewhat attractive cast, couple of cool death scenes, a sex scene (without nudity though), a creepy enough killer, bimbo skin (breast shots), some cool music and a totally unexpected musical number (which I did not hate like other reviewers).

To me what didn't work were the ending and cop scenes. It could've used a little more screaming from the would be victims too (only 2 of the girls scream in the whole movie).

Sexual Witchcraft (2011 TV Movie)
Silly, fun flick with lots of nudity...
26 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
and more nudity and tons of simulated sex, man/woman, woman/woman and the hilarious Michelle Bauer.

Only reason I watched this was cause of my favorite Scream Queen Michelle Bauer. Here she plays a nosy neighbor who discovers her new neighbor is a witch and that's pretty much the plot.

Skin is the name of the game here and every major cast member with the exception of Bauer gets naked.

There are a few fun bits here and there and the cast is certainly having fun with their dialog.

Some of the "sexy" scenes are a little too long and the lead actress tends to look at the camera (which can be very distracting in my opinion). An unresolved ending also bothered me, otherwise this kept me entertained.

If you catch it on late night cable like I did and are a fan of Ms. Bauer go ahead and watch it :-) I'm glad she's back acting, even in fare like this.

Fun!
14 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
After having watched countless angry/long haired/dead/ghost child flicks in the last decade, decided to give this flick and a chance based on the synopsis and was pleasantly surprised. One of the most entertaining Asian flicks I've seen in a long time.

Reality show contestants and host travel to island and soon are chased by savage pigs and taunted by angry ghosts at an old mansion/monastery.

The end result is not scary, just a fun ride with lots of chases, things exploding, screaming girls and things that go bump in the night.

There are a few slow moments when the characters just talk among themselves, but overall SOMETHING is almost always going on. And get this: some of the characters speak Cantonese, some Japanese and some English yet all seem to understand each other. Loved that!

Favorite scene: scared girl throws rock into the woods to scare away whatever might be near and before you can say ghost, rocks fly at her stoning her to death!

Fright Flick (2011)
Fun flick!
5 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this last night and truly enjoyed most of it.

Badly acted (on purpose), some great one-liners and some funny performances. Oh and some female nudity as well (especially in the opening scenes of the movie). The body count was high too. Some scenes were obviously ripped off... I mean inspired by a well known slasher flick from 1980.

Happy to say Chad Allen was in it more than I expected. Usually the "known/name actors" only appear for a few minutes in these type of low budgeted flicks, but Mr. Allen was in a bunch of different scenes and he was funny and his death scene was the best in my opinion.

My only complaint: the likable characters are the first ones to get the knife.

Earth Day (2009)
I liked the poster
5 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
But unfortunately did not like the movie very much... I had high hopes since this was made here in Oregon, but it wasn't scary or gory or clever.

I know a lot of time is spent making a no budget feature, but to me this was unwatchable for the most of the proceedings and I am a huge fan of indie/underground horror.

The opening was watchable and somewhat entertaining with four friends sitting around a very tiny tree, the first murder has blood being splashed and wasn't that bad. It was after some cops show up that this movie went downhill for me.

The scenes where people get stalked/killed were OK, somewhat funny. I have always hated movies where cops show up and "investigate" what the audience already knows. Another negative was the forced humor.

The running time seemed a little long and I did fast-forward quite a bit. I'm sure others will enjoy it, I didn't. Just my opinion.

Zombie Farm (2009)
Some good scenes, some boring scenes 5 out of 10
5 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I hadn't heard much about this flick before watching it, all I knew was what it said on the back cover of the DVD.

I only recognized one of the actresses, but my mom recognized a bunch of them from soap operas or something. Which probably explains some of the overacting. I can forgive overacting if the actors are likable and the plot doesn't bore me, unfortunately, the beginning of this low budgeter I found very slowwww.

And yes, this starts off like a drama. Reporter is doing a piece on domestic violence and somehow finds herself in a warlock's office! There she meets an abused woman and soon the "action" starts.

I won't lie, I fast forwarded a lot of this movie, probably the first 45 minutes, and I kept looking at the clock on my wall. Eventually mentioned reporter and warlock get trapped and we finally get to see some zombies. Thankfully, the ending was pure horror. In the tradition of a group of people (in this case 3) trying to escape from the attacking undead and the woman who controls them.

We get a few fighting scenes, some zombies eating people, a couple of scenes of a woman trapped in house with her dead husband and then the movie ends.

I've seen worse. Not a bad movie, I felt I was watching a Lifetime movie of the week, except for the final 20 or so minutes when it switches from drama to supernatural horror.

Do I recommend it? Nope, unless you have nothing else to watch.

Killjoy 3 (2010 Video)
Better than part 1, slightly worse than part 2
5 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the movie. Trent Haaga and Victoria DeMare obviously were having fun with their roles and they were the best actors of the bunch in my opinion.

I do wish there had been a larger body count and some gore. What there was, was passable. I do understand this is a low budget flick so I forgive the non-gore, although Killjoy's make up was pretty cool. Another plus: the image/colors looked really, REALLY good on my HDTV. Some scenes reminded me a lot of Nightmare on Elm Street, but I can forgive that too.

Kudos for getting Mr. Haaga back! I've watched all 3 films now, my favorite still part 2, followed by this sequel and in last place the first one.

I would definitely watch part 4 if there is another sequel :-)

The 7th Hunt (2009)
Not good
1 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I love watching indie/low budget horror flicks, but this I couldn't even finish watching in one sitting.

No redeeming qualities whatsoever. I know how hard it is to get these made, then distributed, but it simply wasn't that original or had any likable characters. Just victims and killers. We learn very little about the would be victims and then, they just start getting tortured.

I'm sure some folks will like this, but the moment the one girl gets stabbed while helplessly being tied up I stopped watching AND I never do that. Honest. I did finish the movie the next day, but it got so unoriginal that I fast-forwarded most of it just to see who would make it till the end.

Sorry to be so harsh on this film but it just wasn't scary or entertaining. Just my opinion.

I enjoyed it
23 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I won't lie, the main reason I bought this movie (yes, bought) was because Brinke Stevens is in it (and of course after seeing part 1 I had to watch this too). Anyway, as far as the plot I liked it more than October Moon. I enjoyed the additions to the cast too (wish Rochon had more screen time though). Except for the lead, he was okay, but I feel he was cast mostly for his looks than acting ability. Not that he was bad, he just didn't seem THAT comfortable with some of the dialog and in certain scenes.

Anyway, other things I didn't like were the many homophobic scenes. I myself am a gay man who lives in a small town and never ever have been riding my bike down the street to have some "straight" guys throw a can at me, etc, etc... When I watch a movie, I don't want to be reminded there are some closed minded a--holes out there... I just want to be entertained.

Moving on, extra points for getting the original cast back and for giving Darcey Vandersomething more screen time. I enjoyed her, the bickering drag queens and Robyn Griggs' sexy/slutty character the most.

Suspicions (1995)
A little slow in parts, but pretty decent flick.
23 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I would have scored it higher if it had better death scenes and yes, I understand it is very low budget but if you are making a mystery/body count movie, you need to give folks a little blood/gore.

Anyway, it started pretty routine with 3 gals and 3 guys getting together at a cabin during a snow storm, the actors were likable enough and the acting was decent. I enjoyed some of the dialog too, then 30 minutes into the movie one of the guys is found dead and paranoia begins! Soon the remaining fight among them and even though their friend just died they still go ahead and go wonder all alone in the woods and all around the cabin.

It kept my interest as you don't really know who the killer is until the last 5 minutes. Not a bad time waster.

I laughed and in a good way.
22 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I watch lots of movies, I prefer lowered budgeted ones and when I saw this for sale for a dollar I bought it. I was disappointed it is advertised as horror cause it ain't.

Anyway, the first story was okay and I liked the lead, it just doesn't really go anywhere.

My favorite and best story was the second one in my opinion featuring a talking human/fungus hybrid thing.

The third story was very slow and boring, nothing really happens.

This movie feels like it was a student film or made for TV as there is no violence, gore, nudity or strong language. I don't need those to enjoy a movie, but this might have benefited from them.

Murder in Law (1989 Video)
I liked it
26 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I recently bought a bunch of horror and sci-fi VHS at a closing video store and among them was this flick. I've never heard of it before and other than Joe Estevez didn't know any of the cast members... Well, I was pleasantly surprised.

I enjoyed the movie more than I was expecting. Even though the plot is pretty predictable it did have a couple of nice death scenes and the leading lady (the one playing the escapee) was good in the role.

There is a little blood, some nudity courtesy of Rebecca Russell and a few characters (hospital staff, boyfriend, maid) pop up to increase the body count.

Not a very fast paced film, but the ending was pretty good in my opinion.

One of my favorite 'ficheras' flicks.
21 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I fist watched this movie on video when I was a teenager. I never thought I'd see it again until it started playing on late night cable. I'm so glad I recorded as it is not available on DVD.

This one has always been one of my all time Mexican-sexy-comedies. I truly love the cast.

A bunch of hookers help an older hooker pretend that she is rich when the daughter comes to visit with her fiancée. Lots of sexual innuendo, comical situations and nudity follow!!! Almost the entire female cast gets topless at one point or another and most of them are hot! but Angelica Chain is the one that takes her clothes the most. Also Lynn May does one of her sexy dances towards the end of the movie.

There is a lot of strong language and while this movie is about hookers, the sexual situations are kept to a minimum.

Kippy Casados and Wanda Seoux steal the scenes they are in, in my opinion (plus Wanda looks amazing here). They are the funniest of the bunch.

The highlight of the 2004 Shockerfest Con
23 March 2006
Pretty good flick. Back in 2004 I attended the Shockerfest Convention down in Modesto, CA and watched this on the big screen (and met some of the cast). I had no idea this was scheduled to play, when I saw one of the little flyers, I knew I had to watch it. My sister and I agreed that it was one of the best feature-length films shown.

By day Sally works at a library. She has a younger brother who lives with her. I found this character 'Ruby' extremely likable and funny. At night Sally goes a little psycho violently murdering anyone she believes to be a threat to herself, her brother and her home.

On a personal note, I thought the girl who played the 'Cinthia' was/is hot. Felt a little sad to find out this is her only film to date. Hope to see her in more movies in the future.

Anyway, going back to Chainsaw Sally. The audience seemed to like it as much as my sister and I did. Can't wait for the sequel, hopefully I'll be able to watch it on the big screen as well!

Es mi vida (1982)
Good sequel to "El Noa Noa"
15 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
After the success of "El Noa Noa" a sequel was made, and while it isn't as good, it still pretty entertaining, featuring plenty of sad moments.

In this sequel, Alberto is accused of stealing some things from a lady's house and is sent to prison. Of course, he didn't do it, but nonetheless they convict him. He desperately does whatever he can to hide it from his family and friends.

This is also filled with musical numbers, but they aren't as good. At first I was very disappointed that Meche Carreno wasn't back, but to my surprise, her and the other hookers make a cameo appearance half-way through the movie.

El Noa Noa (1981)
Awesome soundtrack
15 March 2006
This is the story (based on real life) of a teenager who dreams of becoming a singer, because he's underage, the management of "El Noa Noa" won't let him in. As time passes by, he befriends a hooker, played wonderfully by Meche Carreno. Actually, he ends up living with a bunch of hookers, but Meche's character is the main one. Eventually he's allowed to sing at the club and of course, he's good.

This movie has plenty of musical numbers, good performances by the main cast and it surely has its VERY sad moments (most involving Meche's character).

There's plenty of eye candy, but no nudity. There is some strong language and adult themes, so I wouldn't recommend watching it with the kids, unless it is the edited, watered down TV version.

My favorite moment of the movie comes towards the end, when sexy Meche performs a nice dance number wearing a very short skirt. This girl has fantastic legs.

TVo (1991– )
I loved this show!!!
5 March 2006
When I was in Junior High this was a very popular show. My mom, sister and I watched it every day (Monday to Friday). Gaby Ruffo and Liza Echeverria were great as the hostesses. Even though this was a kids/family game show, you know that male adults watched it too to look at the sexy hostesses (who always wore very short shorts) and the TV-itas.

In every show lovely Gaby and Liza sang 2 or 3 songs, which for the most part were really good and had meaning. The lyrics were about family values, friendships, love, say no to drugs, etc... To this day, I still own most of the soundtrack and am still loving the songs.

My favorite part to watch were the contestants climbing 'el palo encebado' trying to reach for the prize. It was funny, but you felt sorry that most of them never made it to the top.

This was a great show that I hope Televisa puts on DVD someday.

Llévatelo (1993– )
Awesome game show.
5 March 2006
After TVO ended, Gaby Ruffo returned to hosting in this game show that was so funny.

Ms. Ruffo, Paco Stanley and Benito Castro had the perfect chemistry. They were always joking with each other and you could tell they were genuinely having a blast working together. And there were the models (a couple of them who were also in TVO alongside Gaby) and the orchestra playing live.

I don't remember how long this show aired (maybe 2 years), but I do know I never missed an episode. I think it is very sad that Mexican game shows rarely last more than a couple of years.

They simply don't make them like this anymore...
5 March 2006
I really laughed my ass of watching this years ago, I even had a VHS copy that strangely disappeared from my collection :( I've always enjoyed these "ficheras" flicks. The 70's and 80's were an awesome time, most of these seemed to feature virtually the same cast, but it didn't matter.

Anyway, back to this movie. A working class-man inherits a house from a relative and naturally goes to check it out. To his surprise, the house is populated by 5 very sexy ladies who turn out to be hookers.

Most of the time these ladies wear very little clothing (and 3 of them get naked), so there's plenty of eye candy. As usual, there are loads of sexual innuendo and adult language. Very funny flick!

Good
21 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I bought this for 2 bucks at a video store going out of business and it was good. This flick is about three men who find themselves gambling for their souls. Quickly we learn how these men ended up dead.

We get three different stories, a la Creepshow. The first one involves an older man who witnesses a murder outside his home, then the killers pay him a visit. This one was the best.

Story two is the most boring. It has a young lawyer who wants to become a songwriter so bad, he steals the songs and music from an unknown musician who died in the 60's.

The third story, is the funniest and better paced of the three. In this, three young people break into a pharmaceutical company to steal drugs. Here they are chased by a big bright thing.

If you like low budget flicks, check this one out.

Entertaining...
19 February 2006
I'm a huge fan of independent/low budget horror flicks and while this one isn't a horror movie, I found it to be quite funny and really enjoyed it.

Robin Griggs, Jenna Bull-Trombold and Robin Green in my opinion had the best scenes and funniest one liners. The leading lady should've been a little bit more alive, she spends most of the movie sitting down! I honestly wished one of the bimbos would've survived instead of her.

My favorite scene was with Ms. Green being chased by the killer in the bathroom. My second favorite scene was with Ms. Griggs also, in the bathroom fixing her hair with the killer right behind her.

I give it 8 out of 10 because I found the beginning with the main character and his father to be boring and as I said earlier, the leading lady didn't do that much throughout the movie. Other than that, it was entertaining and actually made me laugh (in a good way).

As good as the original
31 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Linnea Quigley, Ginger Lynn Allen, Jay Richardson and the very funny Jayne Hamil return in this funny sequel, which I think is better than the original.

In this sequel, Linnea and Ginger's characters are forced to work together after graduating from the academy. At first they aren't too happy as they can't stand each other, but soon they put their differences aside as they are sent undercover at some bar. This time, Ginger shows a lot more skin than she did before, as she and Linnea have to do a striptease at the mentioned bar.

Melissa Anne Moore has a cameo as a prostitute in the opening.
