Come on!
26 July 2023
This is a very bad tv show. I can't imagine why Michael Nyqvist took this job. Just money? I don't know. His acting is still good, but the whole thing is so mediocre...

You can kill some time with this if you don't have anything else to watch. That's why I marked it as a 2 out of 10. Though I had to make an effort to watch it to the end.

Very bad scripts, below average production, nice acting, silly and unnecessary US-Sweden link (unnecessary for the non USA market), so many episodes, all the expected cliches but in a so random way, especially the daughter character.

I just can't find anything to excuse this.

Watch it at your own risk. I took mine and lost.

PS: Acting is not bad. I guess it's not easy to give a good performance in such a mediocre show. Are we really expecting a second season? Please, don't do another season. Please...

Not what I rememberd
18 June 2023
I saw this film some 40 years ago and thought it was very good. I decided to see it again, but i t felt old, boring and rather silly. The relationship between the main character and his wife is artificial. It's like they not know each at all. And why did move to her home town. Ok, he is a mathematician with a scholarship. There are so many places with universities where he could do his job, but there? Seriously? Dustin Hofmann is a great actor, but he didn't have a chance to show his skills. Such a pity.

Es raro ver cómo las películas estadounidenses ya eran mediocres en los 70s. Yo creía que se habían venido abajo recién en los 90s.

Seasons 2 an d 3, the worst TV show I've ever watched
1 August 2022
I kept watching just to be fair with my review. Season 1 is a 8/10 to me. Both 2 and 3 are so bad, stupid, commercial.

They did it. Cheers to them business people.

Rather standard. A Shame

Just a British regular Police Procedural. John Simm doesn't look like he is doing a good job but there's nothing really good to stick to. Anyway, finishing first part and having a rather nice time. If you don't expect for a real good procedural, you might enjoy this. Give a a try. Not the best but not bad at all.

GOOD - Should be a theatre play
30 May 2022
I watched this expecting a thriller movie but it felt like a very good theatre play. Acting is essential here. Cant't imagine an actor playing Shanon's part every single evening, though. Excelent acting. Kept me into it. Good movie. Go for it. One of the reasons I've picked this was Ashely Judd. She is good. I mean it. Enjoy.

Nothing new; nothing worth watching unless your a big fan
15 April 2022
The only interesting thing could be having the whoe bunch together, but it's just an illusion. But they don't offer anything new. It is watchable, of course; if you are a fan you will enjoy it; but I insist, don't expect news.

Still am a huge fan of Genesis. Especially Gabriel's era. I love them.

Why not watch this?
6 November 2020
Ok. It is not the best series I've seen. It's not even a police procedural series in the normal sense (the protagonist is not even a police detectvie, but a coroner), but it is a nicely told story with nice characters and good actors. I am enjoying it (finishing the second season). I am having a good time. I like Serinda Swan; she is not only a good and convincing actress, but she is also gorgeous. What is not to like? Unless you expect an "oscar winner actress". Give it a try and have a good time without expecting the best nordic noir series. I've almost forgot; I'm giving just 6 stars out of ten just because I'm not too generous. 6 is enough for me me to watch a series like this one. I've changed to seven.

I liked it. Good story. Good actors, but...
21 November 2017
The story is surely intriguing (due to the original novel, I guess; haven't read it). Script and acting are good. But, as another reviewer stated, same actress playing a 15 year old and a 30 year old is not convincing enough. And also, the Irish accent. I am not a English native speaker myself, but I can tell the accent does not sound natural. Sarah Gadon does a great job (though she cannot pass as a 15 year old woman), but she doesn't sound Irish at all, so, why not hiring a Irish actress?

All in all, if you don't mind details, you'll enjoy it. Go for it.

Worth a watch.

Yet another obvious thriller
10 November 2017
If you're bored and don't have anything else to watch, then OK. I give it a 5 just for that. It is something you can watch when you don't find anything else and you don't feel like going out and spend time with friends.

The story is so obvious, the acting is so superficial...

Jessica Biel is beautiful but that's not enough to set up a good TV series.

In my humble opinion, it is time for the USA entertainment business to learn from other countries as to how to make good quality TV thrillers.

A young woman makes a surprising discovery about the husband of her late best friend
13 July 2015
In the summary, I'm only quoting IMDb's storyline for this film. This is all you need to know about its plot.

I just like Ozon's films. I have my favourites, but in all of them I find what I found on Une nouvelle amie: Good story, provocative, even thrilling; good script; well filmed; very nice cinematography; excellent performances. Both Romain Duris and Anaïs Demoustier fit perfectly in their roles. I'd already seen Duris in a couple of films where he provided very good and convincing performances (I now recall De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté; very nice), thus I was happy to find him again (I watched the film only knowing it was by Ozon; that's all I needed to know) and, at the same time, quite surprised about his role. I knew nothing about Anaïs Demoustier and just loved her. Not only she gave a very nice performance but she is also beautiful.

If you are a Ozon fan, like myself, you cannot miss this film.

If you just like plain good cinema, give this film a try. You will enjoy it.
