Initial D (2005)
1/10
This is not a movie
21 August 2005
I personally think this movie is more a promotional tool for Jay Chou's new songs and for Pepsi.

It is merely a shorter version of the original Initial D series. A less expensive version of what would have been a more

In Jay Chou's acting debut, he shows off his less than impressive abilities that include: throwing up, sitting in a car, throwing up, and talking on the phone. He has about 10 lines in the entire movie. Granted he doesn't speak Cantonese (which is what the movie is in) and the character itself doesn't speak much. He was more Jay Chou than he was Takumi.

(bash) The point where I became indignant of the producers is when Takumi and Ryousuke met after a race and filmed a Pepsi commercial. Jay Chou is known to shamelessly promote products he is spokesperson for. (/bash)

They tried to fit too much in that one hour and a half and should have taken reference to the animated Inital D movie and not have made a version that's exactly like the series, but nothing like it at the same time. Most of the characters are totally different and some important ones weren't written in.

Whoaaaaaaa No
9 August 2005
I have never seen the original TV show so I will comment on the movie only The bad acting and uninspired script aside, I think the movie is entertaining if you are a testosterone raging teenager. Hot college coeds and car chases will give you a fun ride. This also puts in question the ability of Hollywood in picking projects. If you are to make such a cheap movie, let it be original.

Since they put such an spotlight on Jessica Simpson in her first role, I have to comment on it. She should keep being herself. She was basically herself in the movie, only with a weird and inconsistent southern accent.

Willie Nelson. Is he senile, or is that what the character is supposed to be? His lines were as monotone as they can be. The only one laughing at his jokes was Luke.

3/10 for the hot women

Weeds (2005–2012)
The O.C. Sideways
8 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
A recent widow has been dealing weed to her suburban neighborhood since her husband's passing. She tries to balance her "job" and her morals as she deals to adults only trying to protect her sons.

Much like FOX hit series, the O.C. this show exposes the seemingly perfect rich white suburb to be a world of lies and personal conflicts (drugs, sex, etc).

This is not the typical sitcom. its style of humor is more like the one in Sideways. Witty dialogs, excellent acting and a southern California backdrop makes this show a must see for those who have enjoyed Sideways.
