Halloween (2018)
Please make it stop
Please please make it stop. No, not Michael Myers, these awful remakes of this once classic horror movie. Time and time again we are subjected to the same story, same killings, same everything. We've seen it all before, the only reason they keep making these movies is because they make so much money on such a low budget (in comparison to other movies) so why wouldn't they?
There is nothing new here, Michael Myers escapes mental hospital again (Really lax security apparently for one of the most dangerous serial killers known to man), goes on a stabbing rampage and kills loads of teens (again).
The thing that gets me the most about Michael Myers is his amazing ability to take direct headshots from multiple types of firearm and still survive. He's the boogeyman though right? So of course he can. Ok so why is he locked up in a mental hospital if he isn't human? Why has the doctor who has been studying him for 40 years not found out why he has special powers? Why are the government not trying to harness the bulletproof technology? But wait..whats this? He can take bullets to the head but he cant take someone biting his fingers? hmmm. Also his fingers can get blown off so why cant his head? Nothing, absolutely nothing about Halloween makes sense. I can forgive the first ever Halloween if they had left it at that but they didn't.
So with all of these obscene discrepancies, you can no longer enjoy or take any of these sequels seriously anymore, they are parody, like all the Friday 13th Films.
I hope this is the last ever movie to feature Michael Myers because if he survives that fire at the end.....i wont be able to cope.
The Predator (2018)
A Disgrace to the Franchise
I don't even know where to begin with this mess. I'm still in shock firstly how this was ever allowed to be made, and secondly who decided it should be a comedy.
I have watched the original predator movie over 50 times and never get bored of watching it, that's how great it is. It is one of the greatest movies ever made in any genre. After 20 minutes of watching this comedy version of the Predator I was bored and didn't last much longer than 30 mins before I turned this absolute piece of cr*p off.
Someone has spent $88 million on this. Let that sink in, people starving in the world, people living homeless on the streets, and they decided to splash $88 million on this travesty of a film. Olivia Munn's "Acting" is something that would better off be showcased in a Sharknado movie, But never mind, she's pretty so it doesn't really matter right? . The constant swearing and crude language is cringe-worthy, no idea where this idea came from. Everything about this movie is a joke, the story line, the acting, the behavior of the characters and predators, the location, everything.
I'm glad to see the last 40-50 reviews on here have given this a 1/10, it doesn't even deserve that, the fact it still sits at 5.5/10 just shows how corrupt and fake the voting is on this site, because pretty much every review I've come across gave it 1/10.
If you are a fan of the franchise from the original movies and are curious about this movie, just like I was, please, please...don't make the mistake I did and watch it, it will ruin everything for you and you WILL regret ever watching it. In comparison to this movie AVP is a top 10 ATG movie.
Summer of 84 (2018)
80s Nostalgia with a twisted ending
I recently discovered this little gem of a movie having heard or read nothing about it. However, being a massive fan of 80's movies such as The Burbs, Stand by Me and the Goonies I was excited to watch it.
The movie basically is a mixture of all those movies mentioned above, it follows a similar plot especially to the Burbs, where a group of friends suspect their neighbour, who happens to be a cop is a serial killer and is burying people in his back garden. The main character, Davey played by Graham Verchere convinces his friends to do some investigating while the suspect, Wayne Mackey played by Rich Sommer is out of the house at night doing suspicious after hours activities.
Having found nothing, and caught by his parents Davey is made to apologise to his friendly neighbourhood cop for the misunderstanding. However, Davey still thinks something is not quite right and does some more investigating to find that in fact there are pictures of all the missing children in his house, and even a dead body in the bath!. They take this to the police and then a manhunt begins for Wayne and this is where you think the movie is over.....only it really isn't.
I wont go into details about the ending but it is brilliant and completely unexpected and quite shocking. Its a very different take on this genre that usually gets the happy ending and I think this is why people are giving this a low rating, however for me it makes the movie even better, it is more realistic and less cliche'd compared to those earlier 80s feel good movies.
People complaining this is similar to stranger things, this was originally wrote before Stranger Things came out, also Stranger things took inspiration from all those movies i mentioned above so please stop thinking it is the original 80s series that everyone is trying to copy, it copied all its ideas from the classic 80s movies the same as this does. I enjoyed both.
If you enjoy all those classic 80s adventure movies you will definitely love this, it is a great movie with a really twisted ending.
9/10.
A Quiet Place (2018)
An insult to your intelligence
First of all, its clear to me now that the ratings on IMDB are completely false. Most reviews I have read from the people who watched this movie have given it between 1-4 stars and yet somehow it still has a rating of 8/10.
This movie is one of the all time worst films I have ever had the misfortune of watching. To me, this is a experiment to see how dumbed down the global population has become and what film makers can get away with. To make a movie that insults the intelligence as much as this movie does and to have such a high reputation is shocking to me.
The movie makes no sense, the actions the characters perform make no sense, the random nail in the stairs scene is downright laughable, we are expected to believe that the creatures can hear the slightest noise from a human amongst all the background noises of nature? That in a year the government didn't find a weapon that a little girl did to use against them? And they never thought to shoot them once in their heads? From the first 10 minutes if you have ANY intelligence you will despise this movie, it is an insult to movie goers. If I could give it 0-10 I would do. Disgraceful film, and disgraceful false ratings here on IMDB.
Area 51 (2015)
Awful, boring and terrible acting
I have recently just finished watching this movie, and what torture it was, but thankfully I made it through with only 1hr 30 of missing time.
I decided to watch this movie because I love anything to do with UFO's, aliens, ET etc..so this should have been right up my street. It wasn't.
From the first 10 minutes I knew i would hate this movie, the acting is laughable, absolutely laughably bad which completely put me off. The plot is completely ridiculous and stupid and all the way through you are thinking, sure, of course they would make these stupid decisions. Every UFO/Area 51 cliché is in here which to any avid UFO fan who has a keen interest in the field it just makes you cringe. Its like they have read a few UFO stories on the net and put little bits of detail from each story in here.
The most secure base on the planet and some young idiots manage to break in without being seen. You cant even get near the place because of the perimeter control yet they manage to get in easily.
And finally the whole film being recorded through a camera has been done to death, its not fun or clever anymore, its a cheap way for a director to make a quick buck for little time and effort. This movie probably took around a week to film its that bad. Please, no more shaky camera films, they are boring and unoriginal, they have been done too many times.
All in all, this movie was genuinely one of the worst films i've ever had the misfortune of seeing. People can make their own minds up but I cannot recommend avoiding this movie enough, its a terrible waste of time.
