Meitantei Conan (1996)
Great but too long
I still remember when I was a little boy and they started broadcasting this anime on the Spanish TV. I tried not to miss one single episode. Later on, they kept broadcasting old episodes and I stopped watching. It was just a couple of years ago that I decided to watch it again and I have been following the new episodes since then.
The series has a great plot, very good characters and even some of the episodes not related to the Black Organisation are great fun to watch. However, I think it has been going on for too much time now. The new episodes are just rubbish, most of them based on absurd homicide cases. After almost 800 episodes I think it's just fair to put an end to it. We get hints on the storyline from time to time but there is absolutely no progress in the Black Organization plot. It's been ages since we got a pair of episodes related to the main story. Let's just hope that the series gets an ending before it reaches the 1000 episodes.
Merlin: The Diamond of the Day: Part Two (2012)
Why so cruel?
I just finished watching the end of the show and all I can say is that this is the saddest thing I've ever seen. I can't understand how the writers could be so cruel and brutal in such an innocent show. It was supposed to be an original re-interpretation of the legend for all the family to enjoy, and who could have imagined that it would end this way.
I loved the series since the first episode, with all those amazing actors and the characters they performed, as well as the story they tell. Even though some episodes seemed a bit repetitive with no progress in the storyline, I can say that I have enjoyed each one of them. All but the last. Throughout the five seasons we've been taught to respect all kinds of people and beliefs, with the promise that one day magic would not be banished from Camelot anymore. We had been told that Arthur would be the king that unites the great land of Albion. Where have all those promises gone? It hurts to say it but, in a way, I feel betrayed. I was hoping to see magic accepted again in Camelot and Arthur becoming the king he was meant to be. He and Merlin haven't had time to completely fulfill all the things they were supposed to achieve. I feel like Arthur's death came without having time to develop his relationship with Merlin once he knew he had magic. I'm not saying that Arthur should have lived, because all of us know how the legend ends and it's perfectly logical for Arthur to be killed by Mordred. All I say is that it came too soon. It's like a feeling of emptiness, knowing that one part of the story we were all expecting has been cut out without remorse.
Despite being devastated by the last episode, I've enjoyed so much the series that I will keep a happy memory of it, and surely I will watch it again sooner or later.
