Rogue Hostage (2021)
Not that good
I watched it for John Malkovich & Tyrese Gibson. I was disappointed & it had terrible special effects. Not the worst movie, but far from good. Lots of stars made lots of movies during the pandemic, but not many have been good. Oh, well.
Jeontoo (2019)
A good watch
Propaganda? Don't know. Factual? Don't know. Does it matter? No. It's a good afternoon movie. Watch it for the action. Yes, it gets pretty gruesome at times, but it's a war movie. Japanese Imperial army vs patriots. Sure it's a bit lop-sided as to be expected when another country invades. There were some unbelievable moments as others suggested, however, watch for yourself. Beautiful countryside, good battles, Fun overall. Only downside for me was the translation to English. It didn't match very well, but I was able to figure out what they were talking about.
The Lion King (2019)
Really people, a one?
I liked it. It wasn't bad. I think people forget that it's for entertainment. Stop watching just to criticize. It wouldn't have made $1.6 billion if it was a 1. It followed very closely to the original. The CGI was excellent as well as the scenery. Animals don't have expressions like us so it made the movie more realistic. A very enjoyable 2 hours.
Shang hai bao lei (2019)
Very entertaining
I liked it alot. Good special effects too. Not sure why so many bad reviews. Movies are made to entertain. Who cares about plots & actors. It was fast moving & intriguing. The subtitles were a bit too fast for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A nice Saturday afternoon flick. Get some popcorn ready & prepare for a thrill ride.
Tank 432 (2015)
THAT was a waste of 1 1/2 hrs
The "F" word was used more than anything else. I stayed with it expecting to find out what was going on & what they were running from. It never explained anything. Then they got locked in the tank & that was the gist of it. The ending only gave a fraction of what was needed to piece this worthless movie together. It would have been watchable if the screenwriter added some meat to it. Dead bodies, puking, & taking a dump. That's about it.
Birkebeinerne (2016)
A pretty decent & entertaining movie
I always enjoy historical-type movies. This one is no exception. I did stream with English 5.1 instead of subtitles, but it really didn't take away from the movie. The film depicted this era of Norway as quite brutal. I'm sure it was. Kings & heirs, civil war, brutality. It was all here. I don't judge acting so I really didn't notice if it was not perfect. I liked the plot & the movie flowed smoothly enough to follow without questioning what was happening. The scenery, well, when it wasn't overcast or snowing, was great. Lots of ski action too. Some of the scenes caught me off guard but I won't say which ones. There may have been a few hiccups, but overall I found it to be a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Abduction (2011)
An entertaining movie
I see a lot of negative reviews these days. Why can't people just watch a movie without analyzing every little detail. Try to remember what industry movies fall into; entertainment. If you watch it to be entertained, then have fun. Your review is a personal opinion, as is this one. I will not be deterred from seeing something just because somebody says they didn't like it. That said, it was a good overall movie. I was entertained. The first 20 minutes was a bit slow, but after that it pulled me in. I didn't focus on the acting & rarely do. It was fun. My 17 yr old granddaughter streamed it & I just happened to be in the room. We both enjoyed it & had some good interaction with certain parts, like when Sigourney's car explodes & when the house exploded. I liked the international aspect of it. Everybody was after him. I think the name is a bit deceiving as I was waiting for somebody to actually get abducted. Being raised by CIA agents for protection is far from that. Good intense movie with some good twists. The movie did what it set out to do.
