"911. What's your emergency?" Save me from this movie.
27 November 2017
Let me start saying that I will avoid any spoiler but I will still get my point across.

This movie is not a realistic thriller-drama because it is so full of unrealistic events, from start to finish. Plot seemed interesting but it fell short rather quickly, featuring boring characters and most importantly a boring story. Ving Rhames is the only actor who manages to stand out positively. Special effects stand out too, but in a negative way because they are bad.

The soundtrack was satisfying and the ending was enjoyable, the last 15/20 minutes. Another positive fact? It lasts less than 90 minutes.

Absurd situations that can't just be ignored
28 October 2017
Somnia features an intriguing beginning because of an interesting plot, enjoyable locations and likable characters, then everything will start to fall apart. There are too many nonsense moments, you will disagree with almost all of the actions taken by our protagonists, and the events taking place will be far from realistic.

Be aware of the genre, don't expect this movie to be much of a horror, don't expect this movie to be much of a fantasy neither ... it's a mix that I didn't personally enjoy. Special effects are well made at least.

Cutting it short: the main issue is the writing and the ridiculous situations. I don't want to make any spoiler but hopefully you will understand my concerns when I mention the words "careless people".

P.S. Jacob Tremblay, the kid, is great.

It's not a bad action movie, it's a good thriller!

Mine is the story of a Marine who's waiting for assistance to retrieve him from a particularly dangerous situation. Be careful about the genre because you have to realize that it's not a movie packed with action, instead it's a thriller packed with suspense.

I find myself rating this picture with a solid 7 out of 10. In my opinion there's an evident issue with its contents. It's a movie that can be split in three very distinctive parts: it starts off really well, after a while we face a pretty long boring part (which lasts about 25/30 minutes), and then everything gets extremely better.

There's nothing wrong with the main plot, actors are great and each and every soundtrack is pretty enjoyable. Conclusion: it almost made me cry, it's something worth watching!

An exceptional movie involving a hungry shark
26 October 2017
Plot is simple yet so catchy and interesting. After a few minutes you will start to care about the main protagonist, so much that you will cross your fingers hoping for the best. Everything (or almost everything) is going to feel realistic, and there is not anything wrong with the main antagonist ... it is totally well made.

Great performance by Blake Lively (Nancy Adams) too. I will also mention the impressive landscapes because they literally left me speechless. I would have appreciated a more detailed background story but I will not complain as this movie was a really great experience.

Watch it, especially if you are into suspense and sharks!

A disappointing REC experience
26 October 2017
This movie left me disappointed because I definitely had better expectations following REC1 and REC2. The recording and shaky camera won't be there for the largest part, it's full of stupid/nonsense moments and the story isn't that engaging. They also added "funny" scenes for some reasons, totally breaking the suspense, therefore it won't even feel realistic at all. Too much splatter for my taste too.

There are three positive things about REC3 though: it features great looking zombies, sounds are excellent, and fortunately it's short (only 80 minutes).
