Hitmen (2023)
British Smoking Aces
It was not a bad movie considering the small budget. It seemed like a British version of Smoking Aces but with a different motive for the hitmen. Overall the pacing was a but slow and there wasn't much action through the film. However when the action did take place it was nice and added to the movie without being pointless. The narrating was a nice touch as to keep you up to date on who was who.
The characters were a mixed bag. The motel desk clerk was a bit much and her absence wouldn't be noticed as she didn't add anything to the movie. The dynamic between the main characters was a little cringy but it worked. The male lead was a little infuriating at times and made you want to slam your head against the wall. The hitmen did fine as being convincing with the exception of the trio. Hard to take that group as a serious threat.
Overall the movie was fine if you go in to it with low expectations. Don't be expecting a blockbuster but enjoy it for what it is.
Richie Rich (2015)
Words cant deacribe this show but I'll give it a shot.
Had to babysit my wife's younger siblings so they put this show on and I watched it. Boy I wish I could get those hours of my life back. The show was worse than I expected it to be and my standards weren't high to begin with. Where to start is the next question. I loved the original movie and thought this couldnt be too bad. Was I wrong. The characters are not relatable at all and are extremely annoying. The only normal and decent character is ironically the one that is supposed to be a robot.
His two friends are unbearable. The girl is super annoying and just leeches off him. Stereotypical leech. Spends the money but adds nothing but corny lines that sound like she is trying too hard.
His other friend is a typical nerdy scrawny type with a Jewish stereotype about money. His constant whining grates on you and his "catchphrase" isn't funny or original.
The sister is bearable. Typical jealous older sister character so can't really complain or criticize. Adds the brother/sister sibling rival aspect.
The father is over the top ridiculous. Nothing funny about the stupid parent character. It's cut and paste from almost every other kids show that had clueless parents. Specifically an unaware father with no common sense. How cps hasn't been called yet is a bigger mystery than how a child created a renewable energy source.
The robot maid is out of place for a kid who hasn't hit puberty yet and in no way should really care about how a female looks. That being said I laughed at her lines the most shes really the only reason I kept any real interest in the show. She's very easy on the eyes.
The plot is nonexistent. It follows the same format as other shows of this type. Two places at once. Setting the single parent up on a date. Mostly stuff that bows up in their face to finish the episode and bring about a conclusion. There really is nothing redeemable about this show. It isn't clever and it isnt funny. The six kids that I watched this with (7-13) didn't laugh at all and they are the type to laugh at the word poop. That speaks volumes about this shows quality.
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Amazing. Forget the "Critics"
Forget the critics. This is not a biographical movie and it doesn't try and pass itself off as one. This is by far a musical and an original one at that. Every movie based on truth takes liberties and of course this is no different but that didn't have an effect on the movie. The soundtrack was moving. There wasn't a song I did not enjoy. As a musician myself I feel that if music makes you feel strong emotions then it has done its job and was well written. During the movie I found myself getting a bit choked up. I don't know why and I can't pin point a reason or connection but something about the music just made me feel emotional. The cast was great and the choice for actors was wonderful. It was definitely well cast as the actors looked like what I thought the real personas would look like. I've never been a big fan of musicals but this is one I would gladly watch again and again. For Michael Gracey this was about as good of a directorial debut as you could have. The critics might have disliked it but this movie I feel will stick around in the minds of those who watched it for a long time.
100 Million BC (2008)
Poor but watchable
Let me get something out of the way first. I rented this DVD for $1.08 at a red box vending machine so that's the only reason I bothered renting it. Now since that's out of the way lets get to it.
The movie was poor and it was a ripoff of JP/10,000 BC but I knew what i was getting into when I rented. Now, i have seen worse movies than this but this one was pretty bad. The effects were really sub-par at best, the guns did sound like paint ball guns or co2 air-soft guns. The leader at the beginning was a bit hard to understand and a lot of the guys die off without you really caring about them.
the movie does a horrible job of letting you get attached to the characters, so when they die you don't really care. Most of the other comments have gotten it spot on.
The dinosaurs, which were supposed to be a key part of this movie, were crap. They didn't even look like they belonged with the surroundings as it seemed they were of a different quality then the scenery etc.
The dinosaurs could have been worse, it wasn't as bad as the Star Trek fight with Shatner and that alien guy. Even with all of its flaws i watched it and it was able to kill some time so my money didn't really go to waste. I always try to give obscure films a chance on the off chance that i might like them. It wasn't the case here but the movie definitely could have been worse. I wouldn't recommend it unless you pop it in before you go to bed or something like that.
