Reminiscence (2021)
People never seem to like the truth.
I can see why this movie got low ratings. It reveals a part of life that many of us don't want to face. That all we have in this world are our memories good or bad. It's what we choose to remember that makes our experience good or bad.
There was a lot of truth spoken in this movie of human existence, that in life there is never such thing as a happy ending. Eventually every prince and princess must die, wether it be from the villain coming back and taking their vengeance on the hero/heroine, or maybe old age comes and takes one and then the other, regardless the important thing to remember is the fact that no one knows the greatness of the light until they've tasted the bitterness of the dark. That appreciation of the dark, will allow us to savor our moments in the light.
That's where this movie takes you, on a journey thru the truth of all the stories we live, wether we choose to accept them as fiction or fantasy, and does so in a film noir style that has been missing from a lot of movies we see now-a-days. I highly recommend that when walking into this movie, leave your thoughts at the door and enjoy the movie for the psychology that brings up. All the while taking the viewer through the solving of a puzzle, piece by little piece, one minute after each minute of time.
It's a fascinating and wonderful journey just like life.
Soul (2020)
A feel good movie.
Once again Pixar does it again with a movie that breaks the barriers of belief and opens the mind to something new to imagine and feel. The journey that this movie takes you down is a twisting and turning journey into the true nature of life itself. I rarely give 10/10 stars, especially for a cartoon, but this one made the cut.
Watch it, feel the emotions that it gives you, and express them, but most importantly grow from it.
Warriors of Virtue (1997)
Amazing Fantasy
I'm current times where everyone is remaking animated movies into live action. This was the first live action "Anime" that I had ever seen.
The costuming was amazing
The make up was amazing
The choreography was VERY Manga style.
The story explain Taoism in a way that everyone can understand.
There isn't CGI, it's ALL acrobatics.
Angus Macfadyen (Komodo) plays insane "bad guy" so well I remember being 16 and being completely captivated by his performance.
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Light the Child Like Fires of your past!
I VERY rarely ever give out a 10 of 10 rating... I also even more rarely write a review on a movie, but after watching this spectacular movie I had to share my humble opinion with the world.
If you were a fan of the original you will adore this movie. My best friend brought to my attention something that helped me understand why everyone should give any remake of a classic a chance. After a while you've seen the classic so much, that you may stop watching it...it could be because your brain has it memorized and you can just play it over and over again in your head and not have to watch it, but more likely it may be because you just get tired of seeing it so much so you enjoy it on rare occasions (May 4th when I watch all the Star Wars movies)...BUT a remake either spices it up OR it makes you take the original out and WANT to watch it again...THIS MOVIE DOES BOTH!!! The music, the songs, the characters, the addition of back story....all of it instilled that magical feeling of wonderment that the original movie did so well at doing when I was only 10 years old (excluding the back story part because the original didn't do that as well). There was also a few new songs to now learn.
The costumes, make-up, and visuals had that wonderful flare of France to match the period and location of where the story was set to take place. There was also a lot of clever hidden jokes to keep the adults chuckling, the kids asking, and the adults saying "Ill tell you when you're older" knowing good and damn well that you aren't going to tell them anything. LOL (I'm older now, though) :) So, in conclusion if you are a fan of the original go see it you'll appreciate that they changed very little and the parts they might have changed (which I didn't notice much) just added a magical flare to the movie.
If you never saw the original, go see this movie you'll love it!!! It stands alone as a great story.
If you saw the original, but you are not a fan of remakes...just give it a shot! As a slightly skeptical fan of remakes, I personally enjoyed it VERY MUCH!
