Dragon Age: Absolution (2022)
It's nice to see a a proper villain
Show is decently good.
Great artwork, great voice acting, some of the characters are a bit ham, but fun. The main thing that makes me think of this as a 8/10 rather than 6/10, is the villains.
Because unlike so many shows they are not either soulless enemies (zombies, "evil" demons, robots, etc.) but people. People, who genuinely see themselves as good people. The villains are horrible, disgustingly evil people, but don't consider themselves as anything but good. That's great to see.
I'm not much into Dragon Age, and based on the other reviews, that might be the reason why I enjoy it more..
Project Power (2020)
Great movie but with ridiculous premise
If you can accept the premise of the movie and sorta handwave it away on the same level as "We only use 10% of our brain" then it's a great movie. If that's too much for you it becomes really dumb.
The acting and style is good, rather dark. It's really beautifully made with fast action too.
Iron Fist: This Deadly Secret... (2018)
Fun change of pace
I find it amazing that Danny Rand and Colleen Wing simply invited Davos and Joy over to hash things out. Rather than a lot of backstabbing, trying to feel each others out, they simply just ask the people they have an issue with over for dinner. Especially the part were Colleen says the things about being honest. It's great and refreshing. Instead of them having to end up talking while fighting wearing masks on some rooftop somewhere.
Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010)
The Space Marines feel like mere rookie soldiers
Good things: Music, voice acting, general lore stuff, all good and great. The bolter sound is fantastic.
The beginning of the story itself I think would've been better with Imperial Guards and heretics, the whole soldiers being frightened and such, doesn't fit very well with the super soldier "we shall know no fear" of space marines.
It didn't feel very much like super soldiers, the two pilots in the landspeeder getting sniped without a sound by Chaos Marines felt very out of tune. Both for the durability of marines, and the combat tactics of Chaos Marines.
The graphics are better than earlier attempts, but still not that great. It's destracting I think, making the combat scenes, which are a lot of the focus, seem a bit clunky.
I think it would've been better to show the marines coming to help imperial guards, show them in context of "mere mortals". Show how they can sprint 40- 50mph, and tank boltgun shots that makes flak- armoured soldiers explode. THEN let the chaos marines and daemons flip it back into an underdog situation for the loyalist marines.
