Altitude (2010)
Laughable
Anyone who rated this movie above 1 must have watched something completely different, it is absolutely terrible.
The story is so overdone, like the writer got halfway through and thought "Wait, this isn't quite hitting the mark, I'm going to add a ridiculous bunch of twists to spice things up a bit."
The characters and story are bad enough but the acting, just wow. Again, absolutely terrible. I get it, trying to make such a script convincing on screen would have been difficult but the cast have as much talent as I've seen in a pre-school production.
I can't understand how projects like this even get off the ground.
Sense8 (2015)
Could have been really good
There are far too few OMG moments to make up for the multitude of WTFs. These series could have been half the length if the side quests were left on the cutting room floor. Left in, they make it a frequently tedious show to watch.
Fate: The Winx Saga (2021)
Certainly seen worse
I love the fantasy genre and this show has promise, I'll reserve full judgement till I've seen season 2. However, one thing that it can definitely do without is the "mean girls" angle, it adds nothing.
E.M.P.: 333 Days (2018)
Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions!
This movie was showing a 4.3 rating and despite the fact I rarely consider watching anything with a rating under 5, I gave it a shot - I was bored and scrolling forever trying to find something I hadn't already seen. Turns out that watching this movie was more punishment than I deserved for relaxing my selection standards. Far, far more.
There is barely a story to follow, the acting is woeful, the audio is worse than the story and the acting and lastly, it really does have a "filmed on a phone" feel (but not in a good way).
Avoid at all costs!!!
Zvyozdniy razum (2022)
Best sleep I've had for a while!
Despite reading the warnings from other reviewers I thought I'd give this a look. I regret doing so.
It's terrible, truly. The plot is far from original and was laid out in a really bland fashion. The "acting" was lifeless.
1 star for the CGI.
Red Stone (2021)
Bloody awful.
Nothing positive to say about this. Slow, terrible acting, annoying unnecessary music, unoriginal plot. Such a shame the ratings on IMDB seem to be untrustworthy these days, this was showing up as 5.6 the day I decided to watch it, barely got halfway through.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
I had no expectations ...
... so they couldn't haven been met or missed. This movie had a lot to live up to and for me it missed the mark a bit. I will re-watch it but I don't think that's going to help.
Technically it was a good watch, the necessary visual effects flowed nicely from the previous films (if not a bit underwhelmingly so at times which was odd). I also felt the story connected well enough with its predecessors tho it wasn't at all what I was/wasn't expecting. I really have two beefs with this film.
1. The film was too focussed on the relationship between two characters (almost any film can do this) and wasted the opportunity generated by the first 3 films to explore more "Matrixy" concepts; and
2. Two key characters deserving of continuity we're not afforded it which in my humble opinion was a terrible shame. I have no issue with any of the new characters but to mess with two of the most memorable characters in the films that brought us all along on the journey to arrive at this fourth was in my view, a mistake.
It's certainly left open for another, I'm not sure that'd be a great idea given this most latest instalment. That said, watching The Matrix Resurrections is not a complete waste of two and a half hours.
Antlers (2021)
Just the right amount of crazy
I really enjoyed this movie. Shot in beautiful surrounds, the dreary weather in the background was perfect. The music and sfx were top notch too, helping that edge of the seat feel at just the right time.
Titane (2021)
With a 7.2 at the time of viewing I expected a good film ...
... instead, I sat through a very strange interpretation of what your mum means when she says your love of cars will one day get you into trouble. Just bizarre, but not at all in a good way.
Je suis Karl (2021)
Cringe factor 11 out of 10
You know that feeling you get when you see someone dancing really badly, so much so that it makes you feel embarrassed? That's kinda like what watching this movie is like. No redeeming attributes whatsoever.
Prey (2021)
Exceptionally boring
Terrible movie, the acting was worse than the non-existent plot. Do yourself a favour and give this one a wide berth. 2 stars for the shooting location.
Earthtastrophe (2016)
I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but ...
Please don't make another movie, ever.
This ranks as the second worst movie I've watched. 1 star for the acting, hobbled by a ridiculous plot. Effects from the Commodore 64 era of computing power. Just terrible all round really.
The Green Knight (2021)
So we can't trust IMDB ratings ...
At 7.3 when I watched this the rating gave me some hope but boy, was I duped.
Yes the movie has some great cinematographic moments but they are it's only redeeming features. Give it a seriously wide berth.
Homeland (2011)
Entertaining but ... Jake Webber?
Over 300 million Americans on the planet to choose from and Jake Webber is cast to play a shock jock leading the dissatisfied citizens in a call to chaos? The accent alone was one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever had to sit through.
That aside, great show, loved it!
Edit: Claire Danes has copped a bit of criticism which I feel is unwarranted. I thought she did a great job considering some of the absolutely stupid things the writer/s made her character do!
Salvation (2017)
Worthwhile timewaster
I enjoyed this overall, as others have said though season 2 was a bit messy - so much going on but not really explored in any great depth.
One thing I found bloody hilarious was Uncle Nick. His accent changed several times between British, Australian and South African 🤣
Awake (2021)
What a waste
Interesting, original concept ruined by sub par acting and character development. Could have been a great movie but ended up a mediocre time waster.
Found. (2020)
Good enough time waster, just
The acting leaves a lot to be desired, if you can get past that it's not the absolute worst way to spend a nearly 2 hours. Think your average weekday midday movie.
Vanquish (2021)
Oh Morgan, what on earth were you thinking?
Terrible movie from start to finish. The opening credits - what even was that?
Horizon (2019)
I punished myself ...
... and watched the whole thing in the hope that perhaps the plot took some amazing twist that may have made up for an overall very substandard viewing experience. It didn't.
Funhouse (2019)
Terrible
No idea how this movie has a rating in the 6's. It's a shocker. Essentially unoriginal concept and I think more cash was spent on catering than on the cast. Give it a wide berth.
Palmer (2021)
Glad I stumbled across this
Not the kind of movie I usually go for but I'm glad I decided to watch it. The story may not have been original or groundbreaking but the performances of JT and his younger co-star really drew me in. Definitely worth your time.
Monster Hunters (2020)
So bad
I don't know how something like this even made it to production. Seriously bad movie, do NOT recommend
Savage (2019)
Just average
I really wanted to like this having seen the trailer but was a bit disappointed. I felt the casting let it down quite a bit and the story wasn't really anything new
The One You Feed (2020)
Terrible, pointless, just plain weird
If there is some deep hidden purpose to this film, it is super well disguised behind atrocious acting and completely bizarre (at times wildly bipolar) characters who are not helped by continuity fails throughout. Don't waste your time
Gangs of London (2020)
Cannot recommend this show enough!
If you're a fan of the underworld and the drama and violence that goes with it you will love this show. My favourite thing about it? It seems to set up for a second season. It will have big shoes to fill if that's the case, the first is absolutely engrossing!
