"Having been a dedicated fan of 'The Walking Dead' for a while, I reluctantly decided to step away from the main series around Season 7 or 8 due to its repetitive nature. It felt like a never-ending cycle of battling new antagonists, relocating, and repeating. The villains, though they had different names, were essentially the same character. And who could forget those somewhat gimmicky cliffhangers involving Negan and his gruesome head-bashing moments?
With hopes of a fresh beginning, I turned to the spin-off series 'Dead City.' and 'Daryl Dixon' However, my optimism was short-lived as I couldn't help but notice the similarities to 'The Last of Us' at their core. Both featured protagonists shepherding a child for somewhat vague reasons, but 'Dead City' and 'Daryl Dixon' lacked the captivating storytelling found in 'The Last Of Us.'
Daryl Dixon's character also left me perplexed, particularly when he encountered a bizarre zombie orchestra in Episode 4. The entire scene felt forced and, quite frankly, a bit silly. It's challenging to discern what the writers had in mind.
Compelling narratives typically revolve around clear goals, stakes, and a sense of urgency. Unfortunately, 'Daryl Dixon' falls short in the latter two aspects, and its central goal of returning to the United States didn't resonate with me. In a world overrun by chaos, it's difficult to empathize with this objective. While Daryl does have people he cares about back home, it doesn't seem sufficient to sustain the plot. A more engaging goal, such as finding a cure or a way to end the apocalypse altogether, would have been a better choice."
I do think if you have never watched any of TWD shows you could stomach this series. However for people who have watched multiple spin-offs we are simply bored of cash grabs!
I have finally closed the chapter on all things walking dead and I will have to simply focus on "The last of us."
