The OA (2016)
A big waste of time
There were some really good performances by the supporting cast, particularly OA's recruits in her home town. But the zero of an ending really betrayed anyone who had committed to watching and developed some interest in the story. Seriously, season 1 provides no resolution of any strand. There is barely any progress in the entire last three episodes. The whole steaming mess reminds me of an M. Night Shambleayam movie: neat idea, lots of atmospherics, but absolutely no clue about how to tell a story. And what a silly climax -- a school shooter? Seriously, writers? Is that what you had in mind when you started out? Anyway, it's 8 hours of your life you won't get back.
House of Lies (2012)
Started strong but lost its way
What started out as a scathing, hilarious indictment of the management consulting racket within just a few episodes has unfortunately turned into a heart-warming/-wrenching story about dysfunctional family life and damaged people.
Even the remnant veneer of business-side stories are beginning to cast the consultants as good guys, working hard to save troubled businesses rather than the leaches and scum of the original premise.
Also, very regrettably the show falls for the false premise that gender-bending is automatically funny and risqué. In fact for those to be funny they have to be, well, funny, as opposed to simply slapped in with a teenage breathlessness about how cool they are.
Colony (2016)
Stinkeroo
Wow, it's hard to know where to begin. Actually that's not true. It begins right away with a deliberate avoidance of exposition in order to create false interest. It's like an M Night Shambalaya movie where they're so busy creating atmosphere they never bother to create a story.
And it's BOOOOOOOOORING! My god is it boring! So, so, so boring.
And why, why, why would anyone ever cast Walking Dead Lori into another TV show. She's beyond merely annoying. She's Hayden Christensen annoying. And the creepy guy from Lost? Seriously? Who cast this hot mess?
Blindspot (2015)
Gave up on it quick
While there does seem to be some interesting meta-plot in the background, it was not enticing enough to get me to put up with the deeply annoying camera-work.
There was way too much shaking around, and relentless, abusive application of close-ups. The overuse of these techniques makes the whole thing feel forced and over-wrought. Really, it is not necessary to zoom in on characters who are just standing around while routine events transpire. I don't need to see his scrabbly beard or her face-spot in such intimate detail.
Ditch the gimmicks and I might have liked it.
