More harmless fun
19 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Off we go again with more of the same thing really. Again it's not politically correct and uses women as objects of lust, again Arthur insults poor Olive and again Jack does his best dirty man grin. But never the less its all harmless fun. A few jokes are reused from the series and at least one from the previous movie has a nice twist to it ... Blakey - bus - water! There are worse movies and TV shows being made now days that get away with it because people are being distracted by the fx and spectacle...smoke and mirrors! These movies as well as the carry on series are more simple and are meant to be fun. There is even a farting baby!

Great fun!
19 August 2007
So what if this movie is non to pc and treats women as objects of lust. There are people who will hate this, moan about it, analyze and deconstruct it. IT'S A MOVIE!! If you don't like it don't watch it. Admittedly it is not to everyones taste but these will be the people who are too young to remember the series or the times. For the rest of us who do remember, we look back with nostalgia, see the old cars, advertisements the way people behaved and we smile. Harmless fun that does no one any harm. There is far worse on the screens now days, movies where every second word is a swear word, bullets flying, on screen sex. sometimes it's a breath of fresh air to see something that is a little different from a bygone age.

First of many
19 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Not the best of the bunch but a reasonable beginning, this first entry into the famous series is not as filled with the innuendo as are some of the later ones, in fact there are only a couple of references to one soldiers lack of a proper wedding night. Only about four of the series regulars make an appearance with Charles Hawtry playing the same character, albeit with different names, as he did in all the carry on's. Hattie Jacques plays an army doctor, a role that will become Matron in a least two other carry on movies including the next one Carry On Nurse. Kenneth Williams and Kenneth Connor are the other two regulars. Also appearing is Shirley Eaton who will also join Jacques in the next movie.

New Direction
19 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A new direction for the third movie in the series based on the British 60's & 70's TV show. This one see's Stan, Jack and Blakey fired from the depot and get new jobs at a Pontins holiday resort. Stilled filled with the typical 70's British sense of humour, i.e. short skirts, busty women and innuendo all over the place. A few other British sitcom stars from other successful shows at the time make an appearance basically playing the same characters as in their own shows. But things must have been getting too repetitive by this point as this outing even has nudity thrown in. Still if you like your humour nostalgic and non too pc then this is for you.
