Great Movie but....
9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I just got out of a screening and needless to say the movie was visually stunning and had superb cinematography. Every picture is amazing and it was just an amazing sight to see. The soundtrack and sounds were amazing too and i love that Denis Villeneueve is not one of the the directors that puts sound effects over the volume of dialog. This was one of the few movies that had clear and beautiful dialog and still an amazing and loud amount of music and sound effects which did not bother. So where's the but? Well at certain times the movie felt a bit rushed although it's overly long. I felt like the story was very rushed and compromised to fit under 3 Hours and at times it just jumped its story progress. As someone wo hasn't read the books it was hard to catch up on every small detail and understand them. Also the final battle was a bit underwhelming. I was looking forward to see the fremen really fight in a huge battle but it also felt cut short. And speaking of cut short. Feyd-Rautha should have gotten way more screen time. I wish we could've seen more of him and his reign of terror. He absolutely deserved to be introduced earlier in the movie and wreak havoc throughout the whole movie. But other than those points I really enjoyed the movie and it was fun. Can't wait to see it again.

What a mess...
1 December 2023
Wow... So Eddie Murphy delivers his second Amazon Movie and his first Christmas themed movie and as a huge Fan of his I can say I'm absolutely disappointed.

The movie starts of promising and seems to build up to original ideas, but only goes downhill as soon as the story starts to evolve. Sadly it's a absolute mess and they tried to cram so much into the movie that it's hard to keep track sometimes. The movie lacks depth and characters fight just to reconcile 1 minute later. The movie jumps from scene to scene and every moment of depth conflict or drama is resolved within a max of 3 minutes. There's not one scene that really made me laugh and the movie is so exhausting at times that i really struggled not to turn it off. I don't know what Eddie was thinking but this feels soulless and you can see it on the actors faces and their energy. Everyone seems bored, the dialogue's are hideous and nothing clicks... this is really disappointing and falls in the category of the Eddie Murphy movies that will be forgotten sooner than later.

Don't know why this is being downvoted...
29 November 2023
... but this is for one one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while and absolutely in the category of better Netflix productions. And I can honestly say everybody I recommended it too, is also having a blast. Had to give it a 10 to go against the bad scores here but this is easily a 7. It's a action packed rom-com that doesn't follow the traditional bits of romantic movies. The movie is laugh out loud fun. I watched it twice and had fun both times. Don't get influenced by the rating and watch this. You won't regret it. Of course the movie is dubbed because it is French and the dubbing is atrocious at times, but that shouldn't hinder the quality of the movie itself and you shouldn't judge off of that. Watch it and have fun!

Napoleon (2023)
5/10
Very dissatisfying
24 November 2023
The Movie was all over the place. It just jumped into events and instead of learning about Napoleon, I felt like the movie was made for people that know the complete history and all his back stories, and just want to see them on the screen instead of teaching history. The movie felt disjointed, the dialogues were boring at certain times and the script was a lukewarm affair. I really went into it with a huge expectation and left super disappointed. The only two good things were watching Joaquin phoenix on screen because he's just a charismatic actor and the battle scenes were epic. Other than that the movies a miss. I'll try again when the directors cut comes out.

Sometimes you shouldn't take the challenge...
7 October 2023
I really wanted to like this movie and the idea of it but the movie just didn't connect. Halfway through I started to check the time, because honestly I just wasn't invested. Important parts seemed really rushed and other parts were a stretch. I'm not a DGG Hater, I like the idea of remakes and I enjoyed Halloween (2018) and even some parts of Halloween Kills, but this movie really shouldn't have been connected to the exorcist. It's nowhere near scary or terrorizing and doesn't add anything of value to the previous outing. The reintroduction of old characters are only there for one purpose: cash in on the first movie. Storywise there's no other purpose which is really frustrating and the story in itself just isn't deep. You're not invested in the characters, you don't feel their pain and even when they try to throw in a shocker, it's like you've seen and heard it all before. I know doing a original movie about exorcism and even more a sequel to THAT movie is a challenge, but sometimes you shouldn't take the challenge...

So Generic it takes the scares out of the nun
25 September 2023
The movie is better than the first but still very generic. Same ol jump scares, everything is always in the dark, which makes the scares predictable and it's just not very intense. Took my son who gets very scared watching horror movies and he was bored. The themes that it evolves around have been done better before and you get the feeling that you've seen it all before, because of the way the movie is written and handled. I'm a big Horror fan and I love the conjuring universe so I really got excited to see it but these spin offs don't really do it justice. It's sad to see that they just can't make a spin off in the same caliber as the first two conjuring movies. You can watch it on a Sunday but it's really nothing exciting at the movie theaters.

Less Brain, More Fun!
18 May 2023
So my wife and I just got out of the movie theater. And to sum it up: this movie is a mixed bag. If you're going in knowing what to expect, leaving logic and your brain at the entrance and really just want to be entertained by the action, cheesy dialogues and over the top sequences that sometimes make absolutely no sense in the real world, than this one will entertain the hell out of you. My wife and I were laughing all the way throughout the movie because it was so ridiculous at times. We just accepted the fact that this franchise will never be grounded anymore and every sequel is there to top the next one, so with that mindset it's a lot of fun. Jason Momoa really delivers and is fun to watch. He steals every scene and is a jack sparrowish F&F Villain with absolutely perfect delivery of one liners and entertaining acting. He really elevates the movie!

What I did not like was the cheesy and messy editing with some parts. It felt all over the place at some times and had chameos and characters appear for absolutely no reason to elevate the story. But maybe it'll all make sense in the upcoming sequel(s).

Another thing that I did not like was, that this movie was now even more Vin diesel focused than the last outing F9. I feel like it's getting extremer with every sequel and he's making sure that this is his world and the others are just in it. I think you'll know what I mean when you watch it.

But like I said, if you know what you're in for, enjoy the ride and have fun.

Blood, Gore but not scary
2 May 2023
So I just got out of the movie theater. I was super excited to see it and going from the trailer I expected it to be a spooky violent ride. The movie started of very intense and nice but after the credits rolled the movie just went into mid territory. The story was not really inventive and the scares were mid. The movie just fed off violence and gore. By the time it got to the end I was kind of bored by the violence and the way the movie was handled. In my opinion it honestly didn't deserve a better rating than the Fede Alvarez remake which I preferred to be more scary and intense than this one. It's a fun movie for you if you like over the top violence and gore but if you're looking for psychological horror this is not the one for your.

Snowfall: The Struggle (2023)
Season 6, Episode 10
9/10
Many People don't get it
22 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm shocked by some of these negative reviews so I feel the need to say some things:

If you haven't been around family members or people that have resembled Franklin in the end, it is hard to appreciate that ending. Through television and media People are raised to believe that drug dealers either end up in prison or dead and that these would be the worst consequences for drug dealers not knowing that this fall from grace is also a harsh reality. There's a bunch of franklins wondering around the hoods in America, may I say even worldwide and are by far one of the worst consequence of this drug epidemic that has hit in the 80.

People seem to forget that Franklin was only strong with his muscle and money. That was the only power Franklin had. From the beginning of the series he by himself was never the guy who was the treath. We've seen it when he got to jail and faced his consequences the first time. He was bait. He led himself to believe that he was the one that was feared and strong but the truth is the people around him saw that he benefited from them the same way they benefited from him. He was never a force. When his muscle died (Jerome, Kane) and Leon said that he wasn't gonna give him the money, Franklin was practically already dead. He had nothing left and no one to protect him. Franklin was never the tough feared guy and I think he led some of the viewers tk believe that, which is why people don't like the finally or assume that the downfall was too quick. But the truth is, his downfall started when he went to war with Louie, Jerome and Teddy. This whole season was a downward spiral and if you see it how it really is, you'll appreciate it even more.

Obviously made for kids and that's good
6 April 2023
I just got out of the theater and it was full of small children who all had much fun and good laughs. As many of you I also grew up with the Super Mario games and even watched the original movie in the 90s as a child. I enjoyed it more as a kid than I do now and I think the same will happen to this movie and the kids that get the fun of enjoying Super Mario now. To be fair the movie is fun, brainless and entertaining action from beginning to end, but there is not much substance to it and that's OK. The whole movie is aimed at children and therefore it should also be criticized as that. It's there to welcome a new generation of kids to super Mario with Easter eggs that also appeal to the adults that grew up playing these games over and over again. It entertained me for the 90 minutes runtime and if you go in with the right expectations, you'll also have fun. No it's not your Friday night popcorn flick, it's a Sunday evening family movie. Enjoy it.

Creed III (2023)

A step out of the Rocky shadow...
2 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So i had the chance to watch the movie and I can say that it feels completely different than the previous two.

This time around it's a story only set on Adonis and it doesn't feed into the Rocky Background that was given before, except for a couple of mentions of Apollo Creed. Other than that, with the absence of Sylvester Stallone, which is felt pretty much, they tried to step out of the Rocky Shadow and to a certain extent, they got it right.

The story is engaging and fun to watch and it does have a very good build up, to the point where it's understandable why these two friends become rivals. It's nicely written and although I feel like it could've been fleshed out a bit more, for dramatic purposes, it does get it right.

Jonathan Majors is a absolute force on the screen and the way he portrayed his role gives this movie so much more emotions.

Michael B Jordan is Adonis Creed and really portrays his character with depth and you can see that these past 8 years, since he first played Adonis, have really made him an absolute great actor.

What was weird to me, is that they didn't even acknowledge the absence of Rocky. Not for a second did Rocky get mentioned. Given the fact that he was such a important figure for Adonis, it did feel ackward.

Another thing is, that the movies final fight sequence didn't feel dramatic enough. I get the anime inspiration, which was pretty cool, but it just didn't give the feeling of a high stake risk fight. Given the fact that the Antagonist was made out to be the biggest and most dangerous fight ever, the finale was kind of a let down. That was the main reaction I got out of the advance screening I went to.

Other than that the movie does fit in with the previous two and I'm happy that we've gotten a beautiful boxing trilogy in this decade and for the generation that didn't grow up with Rocky. If this is the last Creed Movie, it went out with a beautiful conclusion.

Entertaining First 3 Seasons, 4th Season is a stretch
12 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the first three seasons and was super excited for the 4th one. I can say I actually lost my excitement after the first two episodes. The show didn't stick the landing this time around and it's because of the new setting and the way they decided to go this time around. It takes inspiration from all kinds of murder mysteries like "glass onion" which was just released on Netflix and portraits it in a badder boring lower budget way. I didn't feel to care for characters or who the killer was, nor did I invest into the whole story. It's a sad 4th season for a fun show. It rarely connects to the previous seasons, kind of plays down the explosive topics and turns of the previous season in a very boring way, without any consequences and just continues like the last 3 seasons didn't really affect the character or his life, other than him not wanting to be that way anymore. It's just handled and written poorly and non suspenseful and this show had so many cool ways to go but safely picked the most boring one. I'll watch the second part as it comes out but I'm not excited nor am I expecting anything big.

Meh...horrible acting took me out of the movie at times
12 August 2022
This movie was okay. The fight scenes and effects were the only good thing about it. Other than that the plot was super simple and straight forward with no big twists or turns. The movie had a couple of plot holes (won't ruin anything by spoiling but you'll get it when you see it) and the worst part about it was the acting at times. Even from a veteran like Jamie foxx the acting at times (for instance when he was on the phone talking to the vampire) was very badly played and very corny. Snoop dogg needs to take acting lessons and so does the main antagonist. Don't know how she got that part. She overplayed her role to the maximum. The acting kind of took me out of the movie at several times. Other than that if your a vampire and action scene fan there might be a couple of fun scenes here and there. The director did a good job with what he got I guess but the script and dialogue were very plain.

I must've seen a different movie.
25 June 2022
I feel like we are in a time and age where everything that's different and doesn't follow a generic movie scheme automatically gets praised to the maximum. I just left the theater and I'm really confused about all the high praises giving this movie a 8/9/10 rating. This movie is a solid 6 in my opinion. I felt it didn't have me at the edge of my seat, the plot was pretty straight forward, no big twists or turns I didn't see coming and it wasn't horror to me. 2-3 jump scares don't justify this being called horror. It's a thriller. A good one time watch thriller, but a bad horror movie, if that's what you want to label it. The plot development was pretty foreseeable and the movie really was missing a backstory and explanation. I felt like I left unsatisfied and wanting more out of everybody's characters. You just get thrown into the movie and the town and certain habits of people and they expect you to just accept it without any explanation. This movie was a solid 6 but that's about it to me. Sorry...

The Batman (2022)

Great Movie - No Spoiler Review
1 March 2022
I was able to see the movie yesterday. So let me start of saying that the movie is amazing.

The tone and the visuals really hit different and it's a different Batman movie than all the previous iterations. Matt Reeves and Peter Craig really are a skilled writer set and the plot, the dialogues and even the humor are sharply written! Kudos to both of them. The score of the movie is amazing! Please do not listen to it before the movie. You need to hear and see the combination of visuals and the movie. It's full on amazing. Michael Giacchino has perfectly crafted a score for ages. In certain scenes I could feel my excitement and my adrenaline pump just because of the score. It's a very long movie, so it really does take its time in developing the story and the characters. I found myself liking the first 2/3s a bit more than the final stretch but overall it was amazingly told from start to finish.

The visuals, fight scenes and the camera work is very well crafted too. There's no shaky cam scenes, no fight scene is shot too close. And one particular scene had my jaw dropping.

I tried to avoid all the trailers and promo material to not spoiler the movie for me so I kind of went in not knowing and from the opening the movie turned out to be way darker than I expected it to be. But it's a good thing honestly and I am full on with it if it turns out to be a trilogy. And with that said people will try to compare it to TDK which in my opinion isn't fair because TDK was the second Part in a trilogy. This movie here should be compared to Batman Begins. And to answer the question. Yes I think it's better than Batman begins. And if Matt reeves can keep up the good writing and really develop the story even more we might have a better overall trilogy of Batman!

And one more thing which I find very important. Since the movie is rated PG-13 i would still advise parents to have a second thought about taking younger children to the movies. It's a very dark movie and very intense. I personally think it's even a bit hard for some teenagers who might react sensitive to the themes and scenes of the movie.

Good Sequel
15 January 2022
It's a good sequel and on par with scream 2 as a sequel I would say. It's scream for a new generation and the movie makes it pretty obvious where it's headed. I wish the main players of the past would've had more screen time and more connection to the story but other than that it plays it very close to the previous movies in terms of storyline and everything. So if you're expecting the wheel to get reinvented then this is not the movie you're gonna get. But if you want a fun slasher and a fun little nostalgic trip than this is it! Scream fans settle your expectations and you'll be in for a fun ride !

Candyman (2021)
6/10
Sloppy and rushed Editing ruined it for me
26 August 2021
I was traumatized by the first two Candyman Movies as a child. Something that has stuck with me through the years. I went in super nervous and expected to be reminded of the trauma I once had. But after the movie was over I felt more like my trauma was healed. I felt relieved. Because of the social commentaries and the focus this movie has, it kind of shy's away from the intense horror and goes more into themes of trauma and social injustice. I went in expecting to be frightened but got more of a drama about the traumas of a black man in America (which I am by the way, so I could connect to a lot of topics). Those topics are frightening if you can really relate to them. So kudos for talking about important things, but the Candyman used to strike way more fear into me. This movie just didn't do and responsible to me are certain decisions that the director and team made... The movie felt rushed and a lot of scenes didn't make sense. You don't know why certain characters choose certain actions and therefor the movie is full of plot holes and unrealistic behavior. The kills are just not frightening because you don't feel for the characters that are killed. They just appear in the movie to be killed. There's nothing personal to these characters and the main plot. There's just not enough time built to invest in them and what happens to them. And the Candyman just didn't seem scary to me. Neither did his look or the way they staged the kills. I really don't want to spoil anything but it's hard to get into the issues without details.

But put it like this...

My Wife, which is usually scared of horror movies and hates me for a week, after I take her to one, left the theater loving the movie and not scared at all. She complimented the movie and the topics and felt sad...not scared.

So yeah! Maybe this comment will help you to set the right expectations.

I hope we get another sequel because this movie gave me tones of ideas where you can take the future of the franchise and I really want them to take the movie into scarier and more intense directions than this.

Take it for what it is!
16 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Yes the film is ridiculous and unrealistic. But all the F&F have been to a certain extent. I don't get all the negative reviews about it being over the top. We all knew what we were signing up for in the first place. For me it's the baddest in the series and it's not because it's over the top, more-so because of the flat storyline and boring drama. Let me explain.

Throughout the whole movie I felt like there was nothing at stake.

Bringing back dead heroes takes away the emotional aspects of previous films and makes me feel like these movies don't have a thrill anymore.

And the bad guy turning good scheme gets boring too. It's just more so of the same formula. It was innovative when they first did it and that's why we loved it. But repeating the same formula over and over is only a cash grab and big dissapointment.

Please Lin, Diesel and Crew. If this gets a sequel, do it the right way. High stakes, more realistic grounded action and a good storyline. Something we can connect too.

Not Bad Not Great
7 February 2020
Saw the movie yesterday. I would say it is a nice one Time watch but overall nothing too exciting for me. The movie started a little confusing and kind of slow story wise but it picked up the pace from the 2/3. The fight scenes are nice and hilarious. Would have expected a more entertaining final fight scene because of the previous fight scenes but overall a good watch!

Good Movie But...
6 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly it's not better than Part One. They had the chance to up the ante on the Horror but they didn't. It was bloodier than Part one but by no way scarier. I actually wished they would've shown Pennywise more. A little more dialogue and some more terrifying scenes in his clown costume would've been perfect which points out the biggest mistake they've made with this movie. The other creatures are wayyyyyy too much CGI !! The scares automatically don't work because the CGI just looks too fake and digital. Almost laughable at certain parts. That ruined a bunch of moments for me. As already pointed out by other reviews Bill Hader runs the show since he's given the funniest dialogue throughout the movie. Sometimes the humor killed the scares too but it's still acceptable. As a Fan of IT I give the movie a good rating and it's still better than a lot of horror movies that are out right now. Just sadly not perfect in this case although they had the chance to create something classic.

Entertaining with flaws...
1 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start of by saying... The movie was nice. Expected a bit more horror and maybe even more zombies. That would have made it a perfect score for me. Nonetheless what it did have was a lot of action and a lot of tension. Overall a fun watch and everybody in the room enjoyed it. Heroic storyline, a lot of gore, one of the best opening sequences I've seen in a while and some decent humor. Grab your boys and catch it at the movies if u can. Popcorn flick for a good time at the movie theater! Don't expect an Oscar contender here! Then You'll have plenty fun!

Not as bad as the critics make it out to be
3 October 2018
Is it going down as the best marvel movie? Let me answer that real quick: NO!

Buuuuuut... I read the critics and went in with very low expectations. Judging by the critics I thought this was going to be bad. Like Fantastic Four or Spider-Man 3 level of bad. But I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. It's by far not as bad as critics make it out to be. Yeah it could have been about 20 minutes longer to make the overall story more complete and maybe it could have had a little more action and maybe even better choreographed action sequences. The villain could have been more engaging and so on but let me say this.. this movie is being judged based on a marvel cinematic universe which is 20+ movies deep with more background and complete superhero development and story. This movie cannot compete on that level. This is a introduction movie. Nothing less, nothing more. So hopefully they'll get the second part right and get right to the point. Enjoy it for what it is!

Expected way worse
17 September 2018
Judging by the critics here I expected a way worse movie. It made my girlfriend jump several times and I thought it was pretty solid. The dialogs were pretty much b-movie type but overall I thought the movie was good. Not the best in the conjuring universe but far from being the worst of them. I know everybody expected the darkest and scariest movie but I think it does get the job done.
