Sharp Objects (2018)
Waste of time !
I have serious regrets about having spent 7 hours in front of this garbage ! I read others' reviews and wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, I do not necessarily object to "slow" television but when episode 6 presented us with nothing new just endless rollerskating, drinking and Henry Czerny listening to his records, the man LITERALLY didn't do ANYTHING else in this entire series, I began to get nervous. That turned into anger when the last episode decided to come up with a frankly prepostorous ending, something no one saw coming - that can be good sometimes but not in this case ! - It was as if they suddenly realized "OMG, this is the LAST episode, we have to come up with an answer to the whodunnit !" Annoying. And then that very last image, as if that made everything worthwhile ! I give it 1 star for the performances of Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson and absolutely ZERO for content.
Benjamin (2018)
Drivel
I like Simon Amstell....a lot. But this is just incoherent drivel. The only positive thing I can say about it is that the acting is OK. The stammering, the unfinished sentences it all got on my nerves... this is nearly 90 minutes of nothingness, a total waste of time.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Lifeless reincarnation !
I was - and still am - a massive fan of the original series and thought it was a bad idea to resurrect it. After seeing the positive reviews I decided to give it a go. Major disappointment ! All Guy Ritchie did was borrow a title and three of the characters'names, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the original. That, in itself, would not have been so bad if he'd managed to make a decent, witty action movie. Alas, he failed miserably. The acting's bad, the chemistry non-existing and the whole excercise comes across as lazy and boring. I'm very glad the original Men politely declined a cameo. I'm sure Ritchie hopes to turn this into a new franchise, I hope we're spared the ordeal.
