Iron Man (2008)
8/10
Great Blockbuster!
8 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes we want pure entertainment, that's what Iron Man is but... with some brains! Robert Downey Jr. uses is charisma to portray the (at the beginning of the movie...) irresponsible billionaire Tony Stark, a genius inventor and a playboy, and only then... comes the Hero. This is the first big blockbuster for "bad boy" Downey Jr. and he makes a terrific job! Jeff Bridges is the bad guy, and is great as always! Terence Howard is good as Tony Stark military "buddy"; and Gwenneth Paltrow, the love interest, is good but... not great.

Director Jon Favreu made an intelligent summer blockbuster. Very well directed, with good action scenes and a message to weapon manufacturers: guns will always end in the wrong hands.

Ps:At the end I thing I prefer Iron Man to any of the Spiderman movies!

The Matador (2005)

Great Movie! Great performance of Pierce Brosnan!
5 October 2008
This is a unique, and excellent comedy-thriller. Maybe one of the best films of 2005! One of the reasons is the performance of Brosnan, is brilliant as Julian Noble, a hit man with a meltdown problem, having difficulty following through on his "assignments".

I usually thing Brosnan as 007, in Matador he proves is more than James Bond!

Greg Kinnear is good too, he as a good dynamic with Brosnan. The director,Richard Shepard, made an excellent and entertaining movie and I would like to see more of is movies in the future.

If you want something fresh and original, see this one!

This one should be a classic!!

El Laberinto del Fauno might be one of the best pictures I ever saw... Last night I saw the movie in DVD by the second time and it was better than the first one.

This movie is dedicated to all the adult's to remember about the children's innocence. This is not a kids movie it has much historical background (set during the Civil War in Spain)and violence.

Guillermo Del Toro direction (he also wrote the script) makes this movie really special, the way he evokes children's literature and film throughout. All the actors were brilliant in their characters, specially the Fascist commander stepfather, played by Sergi López, must be one of the best villains in movies in recent years.

This should be a classic!

Transformers (2007)

Michael Bay has a problem!
30 June 2007
The first half of the movie is very good. Good action scenes and excellent humor, with Shia Labouf in the spotlight the movie is quite cool! But the second half, especially the last 30 minutes are nonsense action with frantic camera work and the story is ruined. Example: at some point of the movie (atention!spoiler!), when they are in the desert, the secretary of defense (Jon Voight)suggests they should run to the city (director call to have action inside the city)... bad call secretary... duh! Note 8 for the first half and 4 to the second. Bay had already ruined The Island, it could have been "the movie" about cloning but like Transformers, has a good start but the second half, he does it again...nonsense action! He should direct video-clips.
