Uunchai (2022)
A light hearted family movie
Well i was travelling and i Had downloaded this movie in my phone, i wanted to watch something and first thing that came to my mind was to watch uunchai but then I thought it's a family movie so why not watch it with my family, and trust me it was an amazing decision.
Uunchai is a simple light hearted fun family movie with a touch of emotions like friendship, sticking to the roots and never leaving someone behind all of these things imbibed in a story of four friends out of whom one dies and other three friends want to fulfil the very last wish of their dead friend which was to go and climb everest with his friends. Now this was the basic plot of the film and the rest of the film revolves around how these friends who are more than 65 years of age will triumph this feat of climbing mount Everest and fulfil the dying wish of their friend. The film shows their struggle from beginning the journey to the end when they actually climb the mountain and along the way weaving their somewhat torn relations with their families and friends.
There's nothing much to say about the film, and it's best if you don't go into all the nuances of it because it'll ruin the very feel of this movie which is of a light hearted feel good movie which bollywood has stopped making since a long time. I'm not saying it's perfect the movie has it's own flaws yet it's a good flick which will make you smile while watching it.
Just watch it with your family.
Sixer (2022)
Utterly entertaining
Tvf as we all know is known to create some of the best web shows ever made in India. This creation of TVF is something new and fresh. They've come up with a different kind of storyline this time. Most of the times they show the stories of students and all but this time they went to the roots and made a series about a topic everyone in India can connect to.
Let me write the good and bad points of the series, and I'm not gonna write whether you should watch this series or not. It's a no brainer If you love cricket and obviously you do, and if you love good shows, there's nothing the world that should stop you from watching this series.
Good Points :
- The makers know how to take out a good performance out of every actor, and can't praise shivankit enough for his character. I'm his fan and I solely watched this series for him and badri. At a point I didn't saw shivankit on the screen, I was just seeing an arrogant, selfish and egoistic boy Nikku on the screen, at a point when something bad happens with nikku it gave me happiness despite being a fan of shivankit, and that my friends is called performance. Shivankit totally carries the whole show on his shoulders.
- Storyline is good, there are some filler episodes yet the story continues and has its pace. It makes you sit till the end and doesn't bore you by any means.
- There are so many characters in the show which are managed amazingly, the writers made sure that noone is left behind and everyone is given equal screen presence in the show.
- Writing as usual is amazing.
Bad points - there's a little thing which I thought could've been better in the series. The writers being so many actors introduced so many characters in the series, and then they tried to gave subplots to all of them. But being a series they can't give closures to each and every character present in the series and due to which many characters feel like important in some episode and they're sidelined in the other due to improper closure of their characters. This was the only thing which I thought could've been improved in the series.
Otherwise the series is amazing, it's a perfect blend of entertainment, drama, and great many life lessons.
Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)
tremendously underrated. a great adaptation.
Well the first thing i'd say about the movie is that if you haven't watched it, just do it first. Do not believe the ratings the movie has received. People literally rated it 1 star without even watching it just for the sake of bad rating.
Now talking about the good aspects of the film:
brilliant adaptation - Forrest gump was a legendary movie itself. That movie needs no introduction if you're a regular cinema watcher. And remaking it would obviously have been a tough thing. But the makers of lal singh chaddha did a phenomenal job.
I personally loved this movie and i think that this is the best Hindi remake of a hollywood film ever made. Literally the best.
The visuals - The visuals of this movie is phenomenal. They're upto hollywood standards. The cinematography is exactly to the point. The color scheme is vibrant, cheerful, and the tone is happy of the movie. Original forrest gump was a feel good movie and this movie makes you feel good till you reach the end.
The adaptation - forrest gump was made in hollywood and couldn't have been adapted exactly frame by frame so they changed the events that are shown in the movie and let me tell you they did a brilliant job.
Instead of mentioning the timeline they just chose to show the protagonist in the events and let people discover what events is he going through.
They did a pheonmenal job putting lal in those events. As Indians you can connect to those events and know the intensity of those scenes and what must have been like to be amongst it. And aamir khan and the makers did a fabulous job doing that.
Now talking about the bad aspects. I can say that aamir khan did not acted on point. He should've researched more about autism and acted accordingly which was done amazingly by tom hanks in the original film.
Aamir khan indeed acted wonderfully and i don't think anyone else in India would've been able to pull off a role like this with such charm and intensity yet at times it feels so over the top and not on point.
The performance of rest of the cast is amazing and so nicely portrayed that one is forced to watch it till the end.
The director has done a great job in this movie, keeping the timeline sorted and events shown in the movie, on point.
It's not perfect by any means yet it's a great adaptation and best ever made in bollywood. There is room for betterment but if we just watch the film as lal singh chaddha and not a remake of forrest gump you will definitely enjoy the movie.
Don't believe the haters or the ratings either. The movie is a must watch if you haven't watched forrest gump and definitely a watch even if you have because then you'll be able to know they've did a great job making it.
Andor (2022)
visually stunning, but fails when it comes to content.
Andor the new star wars show, which dates just before the events of Rogue one : a star wars story(one of the best star wars films ever made.) In that movie Andor dies along with jyn. But this show focuses more on Andor's prior ventures.
First of all, the good aspects - I can say that when I saw the trailer I was spell bound, this was something different yet felt a lot like star wars and it got me so pumped up being a star wars fan, that we will be watching something new and the show stands on that expectation of mine.
It it dark, gritty, the visuals are astounding and beautiful.
Next up the writing. The writing of this show is great, it's very mature and not like the once they did with the sequal trilogy to make it funny and kid friendly. This show changes the tone and makes it dark. We get to see the selfish side of Andor and we get to know him more and know his journey from a money monger to becoming a true ally to the rebellion.
The acting performances. Diego luna reprises his role of andor and he is just perfect. He shines and delivers a great performance. One can feel him very soundly and know the motivation of him doing something. The rest of the cast is amazing and performs their roles to utmost efficiency.
The bad aspects - the writing may be mature yet it is very lousy, the show fails to explain the grandeur of the characters and very thing they're dealing with and hence the scale doesn't feels large. It doesn't feels like something large is at stake and they're upto something meaningful.
They've opened plots which they lack to know how to deal with. The character treatment in the show is not that good.
And long story short, the show is very boring in itself. They've released 5 episodes and all one witnesses is just Andor going someplace and getting ready for something. The empire is somewhere else and there's a different unit shown here in this show doing its stuff but they don't feel grand. I don't feel that they're upto task and doing something of importance.
This show lacks action and i'm not talking about that space action, in which jets, tie fighters and involved. This show lacks that too by the way. But im talking about the pace of this show. It is very slow and very boring. One might have trouble keeping up and watch it as they release weekly. I'd recommend you watching it once all episodes are out and about.
It's not that enjoyable.
Campus Diaries (2022)
GOOD STORYLINE, TIGHT SCREENPLAY STRONG ACTING.
Okay so going straight I will just be mentioning the good and the bad points about the show. Besides the fact i've given it an 8 star I personally love the show but I'll be mentioning the reasons why I gave this one an 8,
primarily let's talk about the strong points of this show,
the performance I can say is the strongest point of this series. Every person that has been the part of the cast has performed with his/her utmost efficiency. In many web-series I see, there are sometimes bits in which the actors say something else and their lips go elsewhere but not in this one. The work done by each and every member of the cast was phenomenal. Whether it's abhilash, sudheer, sanya, sushmita and everyone especially I would like to give a shout out to the guy who played aditya, in episode 9th, i was just shocked with the magnitude of the performance of both sanya and aditya. That guy needs a mention especially for that piece he pulled through in episode 9, he made me hate that character fear him and at a point show a slight of empathy towards him which is I know how hard to pull of and that guy did it with such an ease that i can't forget that fight scene. You'll know when you watch it.
Harsh beniwal also is a strong performer he mostly does comedy videos on his youtube channel but I was not expecting that he could pull of those drama scenes with this efficiency too. Now talking about the screenplay that felt a little bit slow at times but mostly it was great. The jokes sometimes landed and sometimes they felt a bit cringy so that's my comment on that. Direction camera work was good can't say there were montage shots that made me shout wow in awe but it was fine as one would expect in a show like this. It's just fine.
So overall it's a nice timepass with breath taking performances and a good storyline with a good story arc or sub plot to every character so that one has a depth to it and can be related or sympathized to so it's a good watch if you want to pass time over a good college show.
There is not much in the negative side it's just a bit slow I watched them episodes at 2.5x speed and didn't feel that i'm missing something so you can do that too if you have that tolerance to watching content in such a high speed.
Also I have a serious appeal to the show makers that they should stop normalizing drinking smoking substance use and cussing among the colleges. They make it look like it's all good and they are doing something that will eventually make them look cool but it won't please don't show this instead show some real issues that they face in colleges. These things might be real but new students think that things take place this way only. And they start to feel left out due to this and start ruining their lives. Ive known some utterly bright students screwing up their lives due to these things. Stop promoting these.
Tabbar (2021)
A gripping tale. must watch.
Imagine the scene in which munna bhaiya came to ramakant pandit's house to scare them into withdrawing the case he took in season 1. There imagine that. Munna bhaiya is pointing the gun towards ramakant's wife but bablu takes the gun out and shoots munna bhaiya. Now ramakant being a responsible father has to sort the situation out in order to ensure the safety of his family. There another drishyam (starring ajay devgan) seeming saga begins in which the whole family tries to do things which could ensure the safety of each other. In here also the family is caught up in a situation and due to that they are made to kill a powerful politician's brother now to be safe they have to bury all the evidence against them but for that they have to face a politician whose brother was mistakenly killed by the family. The more the case unfolds the more it entangles more decisions are to be taken by omkar which is the head of the family. And soon episode by episode they keep entrapping into a vicious circle of politics and wrong decisions. It is an extremely gripping show which is full of twists and turns which will make you sit till the end without skipping or wanting to miss anything. It created a tension at every episode and holds on to it till the very end. Its a great thriller and the performance of the entire cast and direction makes it even greater. The performance of supriya pathak, pawan malhotra is outstanding other co actors also played their parts with utmost perfection and precision. They just make you step into their shoes and makes you wonder what would you've done had you been in their position. It is an amazing watch and i just finished it in one sitting. The episodes are average sized neither long nor short enough. You can easily binge it which I Suggest you do if you do not want to miss this masterpiece.
Dhindora (2021)
Watched countless times
Watched the first episode numerous times. Can't get enough of the first episode. It was so nostalgic for me because I've been watching bb for 6 years now. And he was off for almost 6 months. But now he's back wwith a bang. Amazingly funny show it is. Watching the Very first episode you'll feel like you're getting a dose of laughter and relatablity both at the same time. Highly recommended. Just watch it already.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
A beautiful tale
My goodness, it's one the best show I've watched this year till date. It's a beautiful tale of a boy who wants to search for her mother after the death of his father but the catch is the world is not what it is supposed to be so is the boy.
It's such a beautiful story about relations and their true meaning. How they're not just about whom you're born to, it's about who you actually love and you can love anyone. The performance of entire cast is just mesmerising, the show is filled with beautiful scenic beauty scenes which will left you in wonder that how much more beautiful than this world could get and the creators of this show have depicted it very beautifully. It's a drama but never gets slow. It's lightweight show and will left you feel happy in the end. Can't wait for the next season.
Fleabag (2016)
One of the funniest shows ever made !!!!!
This show I can say is one of the funniest shows ever made. The writing of Phoebe waller-bridge is mesmerising she takes you into her world and makes you relate to her, and make you laugh like hell on the same hand. And talking about the performance of the cast, it's just Amazing. I'm very sad that they discontinued the show, it's like I can watch this zillionths of times without getting bored. Phoebe is a complete package of entertainment. She's a very talented.
Army of the Dead (2021)
A complete package of entertainment
This, I can say, is the best action films of this year so far. Fully action packed, with unexpected twists and turns, which makes you sit tight till the end. This is one of the best zombie movies till date. Even better than its first part. There are multiple twists which will make you sit on the edge of your seat and make you think how come that happened.
In short go for it. Won't be disappointed.
Special OPS (2020)
Cliched, moderate acting, predictable
The show deserves a 5 rating but I raised the 2 stars just because of such an incredible performance of Mr. Kay Kay Menon, an unrecognised jewel of Indian cinema. If we exclude him from the show it's just a moderate predictable cliched show about terrorism, which doesn't even deals with stereotypes properly. 7 episodes of this 8 episode long series felt just bogus.
Hostel Daze (2019)
One of the funniest
Hostel daze is one of the funniest shows I've ever watched till date. The performance of entire cast is on the next level of awesomeness. The writing is hilarious and one can hardly manage to stop laughing while watching this show. I've watched it multiple times and watch it frequently to get entertained.
