Excruciating after 7 wonderful episodes
26 March 2024
Wow. After thoroughly enjoying the first 7 episodes, this was painful to watch.

I thought this was a comedy.

This episode made me cringe pretty much throughout the entire episode.

One stupid scene after another.

Scenes with characters acting so completely out and of character it makes one wonder what the writer(s) were thinking. IF they were thinking.

If this is a permanent shift (from comedy to soap opera), I will be so disappointed (and won't continue watching).

The buildup of Midge's character over the first 7 episodes and we get THIS? Everything we thought about her just thrown out the window to follow some ridiculous storyline. Where is this going?

If I were watching this alone, I would have skipped to the next episode or just watched something else. Which, of course, made it even more painful because I was forced to watch the episode in it's entirety.

Please make it stop.

Please tell me this is a one-off issue.

Please do yourself a favor and skip this episode.

Forgettable + Needs subtitles!
17 February 2024
Was it awful? No.

Is it worth paying to see? No.

Is it worth watching? Probably, but be sure you turn on the subtitles. Having seen it in the theater, we would surely have enjoyed the film more had we not missed a good portion of the dialogue. That aspect was very disappointing.

You've probably seen other reviews that the film fails to capture the impact Bob Marley had on people around the world. This reviews are correct.

Some of the flashbacks were well done, while others left us scratching our heads.

Quite a few scenes simply included the Wailers sitting around talking. Others included them jogging. I'm not sure how those scenes really contributed to anything.

Another issue: The film ended quite abruptly!

Personally, I feel "Bohemian Rhapsody" provided a solid blueprint for a film documenting a legendary musician/band. Whomever was responsible for this film apparently don't agree.

Sadly, a fair portion of the film was just boring.

Let's end on a positive note:

Personally, I thought the two leads were superb!

Kingsley Ben-Adir beautifully personified Bob Marley (including his body movements on stage!) I realize the Academy is a mess, but a nomination for Best Actor should be automatic.

Also, I'm glad they mentioned that his toe injury was due to cancer and not a football accident.

Painful to watch
9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Fredrick Forsyth is a fantastic writer, so perhaps the book is worth a read.

Pros:

  • Getting to see a de Havilland Comet.

  • It mercifully ended after 40 minutes.

Cons: Everything else:

  • Much of the film was a closeup of the pilot in the cockpit.

  • The casting was atrocious. Ben Radcliffe is wholly unbelievable as an RAF pilot. His character goes from happy-go-lucky to lost, defeated puppy dog in the blink of an eye.

  • The acting was truly awful. I'm still trying to figure out which emotions Radcliffe was trying to convey. There was no tension whatsoever.

  • The audio was horrid. The conversation between Radcliffe and his superior was inaudible.

  • There we're so many aspects that were completely unbelievable:

For example: The scheduled pilot injures his arm in a snowball fight? A snowball fight?!?

Please avoid this film.

Quite possibly the worst movie ever
12 December 2022
Honestly, ever scene has me wondering if this is a spoof/satire/parody.

If that were the case, this might be a pretty decent movie.

Unfortunately, since it isn't, this is just awful.

Nothing makes any sense. Absolutely nothing is anywhere near believable.

If I had the energy to look it up, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this was created during a writer's strike and the production staff came up with the idea of playing mad-libs to generate a storyline.

The actions of the lead character, "Kathleen", can only be explained by suffering from serious mental health issues. Actually, make that MULTIPLE mental health issues. All of which are either undiagnosed or unmedicated. Mix that with the personality of a selfish, completely self-absorbed lump of entitlement.

If that's not enough, let's force a biblical narrative into an already meandering "plot", complete with reading passages from the Good Book.

Wednesday (2022– )

One of the best series of all-time!
12 December 2022
Season One of Wednesday has everything.

The acting is sensational.

The symbolism is layered and brilliant.

The dialogue is phenomenal.

There are nods to classic scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and - of course - the original Addams Family TV series. With hints of Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Twilight.

Jenna Ortega is amazing as Wednesday Addams. Her black-and-white wardrobe belies the spectrum of talent this brilliant young actress brings to the screen.

Her acting skills are most evident with her subtle nonverbal facial expressions, especially the minute eye shifts she uses with such efficacy.

The writing is divine. The plot is a work of art, weaving it's way from episode to episode to form a tapestry that is only fully revealed in the season finale.

Worst SWAT episode yet
10 October 2022
The writing was just awful. The production was terrible. The flashbacks were unnecessary and repetitive.

We usually REALLY enjoy this show, but this was so difficult to watch.

The premise of some of the scenes was just so unbelievable.

They set out to steal a Jeep then for some reason only explained by a continuity "oops" too late to correct, they end up back where they were BEFORE they set off for the Jeep (and then set off for the Jeep again).

Shows like this require some suspension of disbelief, but the writing was sophomoric.

Do yourself a favor and skip this episode. Unless you are a masochist, in which case you will love it!

The last line of the episode is worth watching the entire season!
25 August 2022
This is a pretty entertaining show, but this episode is stellar. Probably my favorite of any from the first two seasons.

They spent the season developing the characters, and all that work paid off.

What a waste of talent!
1 April 2022
Three stars for:

1) Soundtrack

2) Cinematography

3) Costume design

What an incredible waste of such a talented cast. I'm not sure who is to blame, but they should be ashamed.

Organized Crime episode masquerading as L&O
11 March 2022
I was already sick of the Organized Crime soap opera. Being tricked into watching another episode under the guise of a law & Order episode has me fuming.

Boring/Choppy/Unbelievable
8 February 2022
Two story lines, one forced as basically a plug for Law & Order: Organized Crime.

The main story line was weak.

The acting by the young actors/actresses was sub-par. The courtroom antics were cheap filler.

Very tedious
17 January 2021
This might have been fine as a single episode, but dragging the Mallory storyline through a second episode makes this my second-least favorite so far. (We are watching them in order.)

Very tedious, indeed.

That's just cheating. And not enjoyable.

Was there a writer's strike?

Budget cuts?

"I must have half the beach in my vagina."
16 March 2019
This is the least humorous show I have seen in many, many years. I didn't even chuckle, much less laugh. How in the world is this categorized as a comedy?

What a waste of talent.

NCIS: New Orleans: Survivor (2019)
Season 5, Episode 16

Plot flaws galore!
14 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
How do I not love this episode? Let me count the ways.

Watching this episode requires a complete suspension of any knowledge of geography.

1) A ship is due in port in Houma in 30 minutes, and NCIS drives from N.O., more than a half-hour drive, even speeding. In an area of the world rife with helicopters...

2) Bad guys are in Gulfport, and again - NCIS drives, and yet there only one Gulfport cop arrives before them. No state police. No F.B.I. This in spite even of NCIS predicting a massive manhunt. Again, no helicopters.

During the obligatory shootout, they leave the master criminal knocked out on the floor with a loaded handgun next to him and flee. No handcuffs, no zip ties, didn't take the weapon.

Made the episode difficult to watch.

Just awful
18 February 2019
Like watching a filmed stage play directed by Dr. Phil. The writing was sophomoric. The acting was terrible - that scene with Benson and Rollins @ 33 minutes into the episode was painful to watch - but what could they do with this awful script??? Easily the worst SUV episode ever.

Perfect Timing
4 October 2018
Like many others, I worried that the loss of Clayne Crawford would result in a less appealing show. It did, but for an unexpected reason. It turns out Seann William Scott is actually pretty good as Riggs 2.0. What this change has really done is expose Damon Wayans, (ex. the lengthy, painful-to-watch dinner table scene 32-1/2 minutes into S3/E2)...

Okay, the timing of this is perfect - halfway through my review, I did a search to refresh my memory of why Crawford was released, and see that Damon Wayans just announced that he is quitting the show at the end of the season!!!

Well, alrighty then. Not much reason to go into any further detail. Apparently, Mr. Wayans and I figured things out on the same day!
