The Following (2013)
What absolute drivel
A quote in the Musical from Professor Higgins to Liza Dolittle is "By rights she should be taken out and hung, for the cold-blooded murder of the English Tongue". Whilst this may not exactly apply to this pathetic series, the Studio Executives should all be relieved of their jobs for allowing such poorly written and contrived nonsense from ever being allowed to Air. The plot itself is so ridiculously constructed and absurd, the writers could only assume that all viewers would be idiotic enough to view all episodes from beginning to end. Goodness knows why Kevin Bacon deigned to be in this? Goodness knows.
You: You Got Me, Babe (2018)
Ship has sunk
Reviewing this series is pleasant by comparison, than watching these ridiculous episodes, especially this one.
OK, sex on the harbour ferry - which other film company has not attempted this ? Surely, one would never expect that the boat would be completely bereft of passengers ?!?
One begins to think that those who rate these episodes above a 2 are themselves completely muddled in their own heads and are using the main characters in this drivel to brighten up their own sad and lonely lives.
Harsh words to be sure. Shouldn't viewers attempt to contact the studio and voice their discomfort to the writers about this nauseating content ? ALAS !! 4 seasons no less. God help us.
Les Papillons Noirs (2022)
Too Busy
You will need to take notes, like the author portrayed in this series, to keep up with who is who, when is when and who is where at that time , why they are there at that time and what age were they at that time? Goodness me. The series drags on and on, flicks back to then, flashes back to before then, hiccups back to now but fails to explain how they were them, what they are now and how are they all connected. Confused? Undoubtedly. So, there it is. Lots of nonsense trying to be very 'dark chique' and tres francais. On observation the actress playing the tatooist half-sister appears to be about 20 years too young. Or did I miss something in the overwound, confusing plot ?
Emily in Paris (2020)
The Barbie isn't Prada
Pi-leze. Trying to 'Leap-Frog' over "The Devil Wears Prada", trips and falls flat on it's face. Nice travel promo for Paris perhaps ? Think not. Been there, done that and all we see here is the 'glam' shots, not the 'real' Paris. The acting is superficial, the actors chosen (one supposes) for their looks and charms, clearly not for their acting ability. I'm wading through the episodes through sheer diligence in the hope that any remaining episodes may improve in entertainment quality. We are hopeful that there may be some improvement but not so very expectant. If you're really bored and wanting something to fill in the time, then try watching this. 2 Stars.
The Knight Before Christmas (2019)
Pleasant But Dull
At the risk of 'raining on a Christmas Parade', dull but a repeat of many other movies where Prince Charming meets contemporary girl and falls in love, however not so successfully transported to the screen this time. Did they actually speak 'Knightsbridge' english in 1334? Don't think so.
Riverdale: Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam (2019)
Luke Perry
A beautifully scripted and acted tribute to the late actor.
The Art of More (2015)
Ho Hum.
Good performances from all to be sure. However, the material with which they have to work demands all your attention to fathom the sub-plot,within sub-plot, within sub-plot. The writers seem to be attempting to congratulate themselves on how messy and complicated they can make a thinly woven thread of a story. Each episode is one messy complicated disaster linked to another by a small hope of resolution but alas! Just another unresolved catastrophe and so it goes on and on and on. The resolution is very low making viewing difficult in low light and the dialogue requires audio enhancement to make out the actors' lines - most of which are mumbled and/or whispered. Perhaps I know little about art, but I know what I like - and this is not it. Anyway - judge for yourself.
