¡Que viva México! (2023)
Australian reviewing Que Viva Mexico
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, yes it's 3 hours long but I was entertained from start to Finnish.
When the family arrived at the husbands home town where he grew up it gave me Three Amigos vibes when they went to Santo Poco to confront the villain El Guapo.
All the actors played their parts well and although I'm from Australia I picked up that the roles they were playing were stereotypes of the Mexican culture. For me it wasn't a hilarious movie but it kept me intrigued to the end to see how it would all unfold, which I will not give away here.
Basically the movie is about a well to do family living in Mexico City, the husband finds out that his grandfather died so he has to go back to his hometown of Esperanza as this was his grandfather's last wish and he has to be there for when the Will is read.
All the inheritance goes to him and as the rest of the family is very poor they are hell bent at getting their fair share of the inheritance and that's where things get loco.
I gave this movie 9 stars and recommend it.
Elvis (2022)
Elvis Bio
Don't want to leave a long review, just want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this film based on The King Of Rock n Rolls life, Austin Butler did a great job as Elvis even though he had big shoes to fill and of course Tom Hanks played his roll perfectly as always.
If your thinking of waiting for this film to go to Netflix, do yourself a favour and grab yourself a popcorn and a coke and enjoy this Biography of Elvis Presley.
Ya no estoy aquí (2019)
Cumbia
I really enjoyed this movie, maybe because I love the Cumbia genre and thanks to Spotify I have a great collection of Cumbia music. Back to the movie, basically the protagonist of the movie is forced to leave his family, friends and his life from Monterrey, Mexico to live in N. Y America.
He struggles with the language barrier, with making ends meet, and changing to an American way of living.
He tries to make some cash dancing Cumbia in the subway, but is deterred by a screaming homeless man and by the police who ask him for a permit, which he does not have.
I liked the character Lin, the young Chinese girl who seemed like the only person who genuinely tried to help Ulises, the language barrier between the 2 was frustrating to watch but interesting at the same time.
I recommend this movie as it had me engaged from start to Finnish, it may not be for everyone, but if you like a good foreign flick then I suggest to give this one a go.
It's currently on Netflix.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Disappointed
Hated this movie, compared to the original Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory this is a disaster, the music in the movie, the ONE umpa loompa, and then they multiplied him, really? Your budget allowed for ONE umpa loompa and then you multiplied him ? I'm done.........disaster
Mulan (2020)
ACTION
I want to start by saying that I did not compare this movie with the original Cartoon as I last saw it many moons ago, so my review is based on this movie alone. I must say that I really enjoyed it and my only regret is that I had to watch it at home due to COVID 19 restrictions, I would of rather had a popcorn and coke in my lap and gone to a local cinema with my wife or a friend to enjoy this masterpiece. Story was excellent, acting was very impressive and the action scenes were superb. I understand those who compared it to the original cartoon and were disappointed, I have done that with other movies ( Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory for example) but I give this action flick 8 stars, thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely watch it again. The casting for this movie was on point, do yourself a favour and enjoy watching MULAN without comparing it to the cartoon movie
Cobra Kai (2018)
Top Show
I went into this show with low expectations, but being a huge fan of the original Karate Kid movies I had to watch it.
Turns out the show is pretty awesome, acting is good and story line on par with the original movie. The flashbacks are good too as they fit in well with the storyline. This is a must watch , especially if you enjoyed the original Karate kid
The Last of the Mohicans (1992)
My favourite movie
This is my all time favourite movie, even though it was released in 1992 I have not yet seen a better movie. The cinematography is fantastic, the movie score is on point and the acting is superb. I have always been fascinated with native Indians and this movie was right up my alley. I could watch it over and over again. Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe had good chemistry on the screen and both played their parts well. Love this movie and I highly recommend it
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (2012)
Not that funny
I loved Seinfeld but find Comedians in cars getting coffee is not that funny, Jerry has some great guests on the show but I just don't find myself laughing out loud.
Maybe it's just me.
Kesari (2019)

I'm not Indian but I loved this movie from start to finish.
Highly recommend watching it.
Capote (2005)
Hated it
Hated this movie
Saw it because of the high rating in the paper (5 stars) thought must be an awesome movie.
In actual fact I hated this drab, hated the story, hated everything about it and wish I had never seen it
The acting on the other hand is superb
Still hated it
Li Xiao Long chuan qi (2008)
Bruce Lee is a Legend
I enjoyed watching the 50 episodes and although the acting is pretty poor it's worth watching.
Another thing that annoyed me was reading the subtitles the whole series, it would of been more authentic if it had subtitles at the beginning in China but once he was in America switched it to English.
I still enjoyed it, the guy that plays Bruce Lee looks and acts exactly like him and the action scenes are quite good. I highly recommend this series, especially if your a huge Bruce Lee fan like myself.
The legend of Bruce Lee lives on through this series. Loved it.
