Hollywood Canteen (1944)
Literally an All SUPER STAR Cast
This movie deserve no less than a 10. To see all the greats, even if briefly, all in the same movie, is exceptional. A huge salute to the men and women who died for future generations to be able to freely perform, and freely walk into a movie, canteen, anywhere really, without persecution! All the performances were top notch. This movie is as clever as it is funny. This movie is full of rich Hollywood history. Bette Davis looks absolutely stunning in this movie. She was so beautiful and talented; a true patriot. Some of my favorite actors and actresses of all time grace the screen of Hollywood Canteen and its no wonder it was nominated. I had never watched this movie and didn't know it existed. The story is the story and there is no competing with the golden age of Hollywood.
Class of '09 (2023)
Very Good for Sci Fi and Historical Fiction fans.
This is a very good series with a great intro. The composer of this series is an already well versed and award winning talent. Rosalind Eleazar is a powerful and beautiful actress and I truly hope they keep her on for the entire series. Brian Tyree is an academy award nominee. I loved the role that Kate Mara played in House of Cards and she deserves this lead role and she owns the role of Poet. Moafi is a stunning actress and I love every moment she is on screen. Her real life story is incredible and I suspect she will rise to underrated stardom but we will see more of her on the big screen. I LOVE Brian J Smith and that is all I will say about that! The list goes on and on about this all star cast. As a sci fi fan I love this show. As a realist living in an up and coming (and really here already) world in which our every move is analyzed by AI and automation, and surveillance is reaching a pivot, I am disturbed. Its a mix of historical fiction and science fiction so fans of those genres are drooling for more episodes! I am definitely going to keep watching and hope this series will go on for years and evolve into something similar to Law & Order of the future. This show has great potential and I dare say could be a real hit for Hulu. I do think there will be some predictable surprises later such as those who appear as enemies are really those we will end up championing for.
Wednesday (2022)
Tasteful Macabre
Not at all surprised this is already up for 3 Emmys. It's so good that I am watching it again. They were somehow able to pull off a tasteful yet macabre series in which the acting is more than superb and will bring these players into the next level of stardom. I am looking forward to the next season. This is a cult classic! Catherine Zeta Jones found her niche and IS Morticia. Luis Guzman is an excellent Gomez and the chemistry between he and Catherine is profound. Jenna Ortega plays the perfect Wednesday hands down I don't see how anyone else could have pulled her off. We needed this series so bad. Thank you Danny Elfman and Tim Burton for once again giving us a masterpiece to enjoy for decades to come!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
7 Stars Respectfully
The ending, once it got there, was introspective and creepy. I think the movie did not move well enough for me and so loss of stars there. I also sort of think this movie did better than it should have because of the star studded cast. But the concept was good and I believe I had a grasp on what the director was attempting to get across by the end of the movie. Interesting.
Judy Justice (2021)
Best Yet
I love the new Judy Justice. I like the fresh help she has retained in helping to assure she has facts straight. I prefer Judy Justice over the old series because Judge Judy seems to allow more time for the plaintiff and defendant to speak. She is still direct and sometimes harsh but there is a showcase of compassion. The best part of the show is the modern twist that exhibits the legal issues surrounding stimulus checks and other government handouts, that have arisen since 2020. Full star rating. No other court show is an unique as Judy Justice.
I Care a Lot (2020)
No Depth
The characters lacked depth and the storyline fell flat. I had to fast forward through at least 45 minutes because the story lacked flow. I found it stupid that the main character was not murdered. The doctor was murdered but not the girlfriend? There were so many areas such as the jewelry store scene that were totally unnecessary. The set was cheap and action scenes not even worthy of an 80's B movie. Great cast but terrible movie. The movie flip flopped between want to be thriller and dark comedy. I gave two stars for possible concept being realized; obtain wealth by any means necessary to enjoy it before life ending tragically? The lamb kills the tiger? Live and let die? Well , okay 1 star.
Living with Fran (2005)
BRILLIANT! BRING IT BACK!!
I recently found this show on Hulu. I thought it was a 2018 show and was thrilled with the decor and figured that they really know what contemporary art is! To find out this show is a decade old and that there are only two seasons, breaks my heart. I love Fran and Feldman. I loved the other cast members and the entire premise of the show. Please bring this show back! It isn't too late! Lots of shows have made a comeback and I sincerely hope they give this one another go at it.
