The Green Knight (2021)
Hope you love Dev Patel doing stuff
Wow, I must be missing something with all these high ratings. I thought this movie was super, super boring; I watched most of it on fast forward, and even THEN a lot of the 'action' seemed slow. If you love to watch Dev Patel walking (a lot), riding, leading a horse, paddling a boat, and occasionally doing something interesting, you might enjoy this movie. I like Dev Patel, I like the whole King Arthur/Gawain saga, but I would recommend watching the excellent Excalibur instead of this.
Dumbo (2019)
So, so bad
Just awful. Too sad and scary for kids, too dumb and boring for adults, no heart at all. Please don't waste your time watching this.
Water's Edge (2003)
Nathan Fillion saves this moving from being too lame
This is one of those movies that if someone I really liked hadn't been in it, I would have stopped watching it. It was creepy in a not-enjoyable way (I'm not a fan of movies about women being assaulted), and there were too many times when I thought, "That's dumb. Why are they doing that?" For example, when someone decides to put a body in a car & push it in the water, instead of reporting the incident to the police (I'm being intentionally vague here in order to avoid major spoilers). It's full of movie clichés- someone you think is dead isn't, someone you think is good isn't, someone you think is guilty isn't, small-town folks band together, etc. Nathan Fillion, as always, shines. This movie could have been much better with just a little effort (better writing, mostly, probably better directing too). Disappointing.
The Italian Job (1969)
Horrible! Boring! Stupid! Waste of time!
This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen! I was shocked at how bad it was. One of the stupidest plots ever, with ridiculous situations that made no sense (ie, with all their intricate planning, why was it so hard for them to get away from the police?). Michael Caine was totally wasted- it seemed like the director just said "Act angry the whole time". Plot lines went nowhere- the girlfriend just disappeared halfway through the movie, never to be seen again. What kind of movie were they trying to make? Comedy? Crime drama? Wacky farce? They couldn't seem to decide- there was lighthearted, goofy music at times, other times it was quite violent (ie, the clubbing of the guards). Massive quantities of illogic and/or breaking the laws of physics that were impossible to ignore (ie, the whole bus scene at the end). Even the enjoyment of watching cute little Mini Coopers couldn't make up for all the garbage that this movie contained. Watch the newer one instead- it's vastly better.
