Taking Out the Neighbours (2023)
One of the worst films I've ever seen.
I was brought up in the area where this is filmed, so I had been looking forward to seeing it. The opening shots from around the town, were probably the highlight of the movie. Once the 'actors", (for want of a better word), entered the film, it just went completely downhill. The "local" accents were terrible, the female lead Amanda Dryden-Wlaker sounds more like a Geordie (from Newcastle) than a Teessider. The plot was basically a rip off from "Weekend At Bernies", where a dead body is carried around, to hide the fact that it is dead. Even though the film is around an hour in length, I turned it off well before the end, it was all I could stand. Absolutely awful, a complete waste of time, spent watching it.
Mayans M.C. (2018)
Nowhere near as good as SOA
Very slow episodes, often nothing much happens. Some of the characters are unbelievable, (the drug Baron's wife for example), but there are some good performances.
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
Gets worse every Season
Whenever Debbie Allen is heavily involved, the show isn't worth watching. Has gone down markedly over the last few seasons, needs to be put out of it's misery.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Best Sports comedy show ever!
Wonderful script, great characters, wonderful acting, from a very talented cast. A fun to watch show from start to finish.
Roy Kent & Keely Jones deserve their own show!
Jonathan Ross' Comedy Club (2020)
Political correctness ain't funny
Awful, simply dreadful show. A complete waste of time. Perhaps if the makers concentrated on comedy, instead of everything and everyone being PC, it would be worth watching!
One star out of 10 for the one time I laughed!
H.M.S. Defiant (1962)
HMS Defiant (aka Damn The Defiant !) - a great nautical film.
Stars the always wonderful Alec Guinness as Crawford, the ship's Captain, who tries to convince the tyrannical Lieutenant Scott-Paget, (played by Dirk Bogarde), that being unnecessarily harsh on the ships crew is counter-productive. This only serves to make the Lieutenant demeanour even worse, and he takes his revenge in an unexpected way. The battle scenes are really well done, as are the shots of the sailing ships, and they add great realism to the film.
There are several wonderful character actors in this film, namely Maurice Denham, Nigel Stock, Tom Bell, Bryan Pringle, and Anthony Quayle. Watch out also for Coronation Street's Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs), in a role as a member of the mutinous crew.
Very enjoyable - 8/10.
Ófærð (2015)
Trapped (2015) - great series !
We really enjoyed this series, there were lost of twists and turns in the plot line. The ice-cold scenery was fantastic, possibly more so when viewed while it was 42 degrees C, where we live ! Olafur Dari Olafsson is superb in the lead role of Andri, the chief of the local Police, in a small town in Iceland, which becomes isolated due to a huge snowstorm. Several murders take place, while the town is cut off from the rest of the world, and Andri and his team of two other Police officers, are left to try and solve these, while outside help tries to get through. The rest of the cast were all very believable characters too. and superbly acted. After watching this, we will look out for further series from Iceland, and other work by Olafur Dari Olafsson.
