Pyaar Impossible! (2010)
Pyaar Impossible - a sweet romantic comedy!
First off, I really enjoyed watching the film. It is a very simple yet sweet romantic comedy. It delivers great direction and performances by all the leading cast and an impressive sound track.
In some point of time, everyone has experienced unattainable love. 'Pyaar Impossible' definitely shows that with a remarkable love story narrated through Abhay Sharma (Uday Chopra) about the love of his life Alisha Merchant (Priyanka Chopra). A story about a geek who is in love with a beautiful girl totally out of his league.
Uday Chopra as Abhay Sharma - loved his acting, fit the role of a Geek perfectly. Uday Chopra has definitely made a strong comeback.
Priyanka Chopra as Alisha Merchant - one of the finest Bollywood actress of this generation. Great acting and also looks super gorgeous throughout the movie.
Dino Morea as Sidhu (alias Varun) - Lived up to his role, also does a fine job as the villain.
The songs are well-portrayed to emphasize the love between the beauty and the geek. The background score was also fantastic!
Overall, I enjoyed watching the film. A film that can surely connect with the younger Bollywood audience through its simple love story.
9/10 Must Watch
Dil Bole Hadippa! (2009)
Good Movie.
I was at the premiere of 'Dil Bole Hadippa!' at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film is a story about a girl going after her dreams to play in a big league men's cricket team. The film portrays a lot of Indian Punjabi culture and is very patriotic. Fabulous acting by Rani Mukherji playing double roles in the movie. Shahid Kapoor also delivered a brilliant role as the head coach of the cricket team. The film was well directed and produced. I personally did not like the music that much except for a couple of tracks. It is a relatively decent movie for family viewing. Overall, this was a well-made movie accompanied by a good story.
Kambakkht Ishq (2009)
Good Movie for a different type of Bollywood Audience!
First off, I would like to say the story is quite predictable. The movie itself, is far different from a traditional Bollywood movie. I would say this is one of the most explicit mainstream Bollywood Movie to this date. It is certainly not the movie you can watch with your family as it has a lot of sexual content, and references for an audience that is going to expect a typical Bollywood romantic movie.
I personally liked the movie, this movie is more suited for the "new-generation" audience. The film would probably not be accepted by most elders. However, if you are able to withstand a light-hearted "new generation" flick then this movie is really worth a watch.
I would give this movie an overall 7/10.
8 x 10 Tasveer (2009)
8 by 10 Tasveer is 10 out of 10
Simply one of the best Bollywood films of 2009. The film is a unique genre rarely tried by Bollywood but it proves to be an amazing movie from start to finish. The storyline of the film has an interesting plot and contains great suspense. Incredible acting by Akshay Kumar, one of his best thriller movies. The cinematography of the film was also superb. This movie is not the typical Bollywood movie with a high degree of romance, comedy, and musical items. It is definitely worth a watch if your a fan of suspense and thriller movies and Akshay Kumar. Overall, I am glad I watched this movie on the big screen on the first day of its release.
My favourite Bollywood release of 2009 at this point. 8 by 10 is 10/10.
Billu (2009)
Billu Barber makes a decent "cut"
I went to the first show of 'Billu' at my local theater, and the movie started out with a Billu (Irrfan Khan) struggling to make a living by his run-down barber shop. Irrfan Khan acted well in the lead role for his character. However, the character of Bindiya (Lara Dutta) was not really that convincing. Rajpal Yadav and Om Puri play small comic roles throughout the movie. Shahrukh Khan had an extended guest appearance and did majority of the songs. In my opinion, the songs were different in regards to usual Bollywood songs. The main three songs performed Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor respectively were a really good modern approach to Bollywood music. All three actresses performed their own full song with Shahrukh Khan, however Priyanka Chopra's part was cut down and shared with Lara Dutta.
The story has a slow developing plot and does not really get interesting until the second half of the movie. It is still a good movie about 'friendship' that you can watch with your whole family!
