Bigil (2019)
Bigil: An Entertaining Sports Action Film with a Strong Social Message
Bigil is an outstanding Tamil language sports action film that delivers an excellent mix of action, emotion, and moral values. Directed by Atlee, the film features Vijay in dual roles as a father and a son, and revolves around the story of a former football player who sets out to fulfill his father's dream of winning the football tournament for Tamil Nadu women's team.
The movie starts with Michael (Vijay), a don-turned-coach who takes up the challenge of coaching the women's football team of Tamil Nadu. Michael's father, who was also a football player, dreamt of winning the football tournament for Tamil Nadu women's team, but couldn't achieve it. Michael sets out to fulfill his father's dream, but he faces several obstacles in the form of gender discrimination, corruption, and politics.
The film showcases Vijay's brilliant acting skills, and he delivers an outstanding performance in both his roles. His portrayal of Michael, the don-turned-coach, is spot on, and he also does an excellent job of portraying the emotional scenes. The supporting cast also delivers a solid performance, especially the female actors who play the footballers.
The film's storyline is well-written, and it addresses several relevant social issues, such as gender discrimination and corruption in sports. Atlee has done an excellent job of directing the film, and he manages to keep the audience engaged throughout the film's runtime. The action scenes are well-choreographed, and they add to the overall entertainment value of the film.
While some critics have accused Atlee of copying from other media, I believe that as long as the story is well-written and the movie is entertaining, there's no issue. Even famous directors like Quentin Tarantino are known to borrow elements from other films and media. In the case of Bigil, Atlee has taken inspiration from several sources, but he has created an original story that delivers a strong message and is thoroughly entertaining.
In conclusion, Bigil is a must-watch film that delivers an excellent mix of action, emotion, and social commentary. The film features brilliant acting by Vijay and a solid supporting cast, and it addresses several relevant social issues in an entertaining manner. Atlee has done an excellent job of directing the film, and the action scenes are well-choreographed. If you're a fan of sports action films or just looking for a well-made movie with a strong message, then Bigil is definitely worth watching.
Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda (2022)
Do not fall for the fake reviews, this movie is terrible.
"Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda" is a movie that starts off with a lot of promise, but unfortunately, it fails to deliver. Throughout the runtime, the movie is consistently bad, making it a difficult watch for anyone.
The acting in the film is decent, but it is let down by the poor script and dialogue. The characters lack depth and the lines they deliver are unconvincing. As a result, the actors' performances are wasted, and they fail to make an impact on the audience.
The music in the movie is equally bad, failing to create the right mood or elevate the scenes. It lacks any kind of memorable tunes and fails to enhance the story in any way. As a viewer, I found it hard to connect with the characters or the plot due to the lackluster soundtrack.
The naming of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is an unnecessary addition to the movie. It is insensitive to use the names of two cities that were destroyed by atomic bombs in a movie without any relevance to the plot. It adds nothing to the story and only serves to offend people who have a connection to those cities.
Additionally, the fake stammer given to the hero is an overused trope in movies, and it is surprising to see it still being used in 2023. It is a lazy way of creating sympathy for the character and adds nothing to the story or the portrayal of the character.
Overall, "Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda" is a bad movie that should be avoided. The poor script, unconvincing dialogue, and bad music make it a difficult watch. While the acting is decent, it is not enough to save the movie. The use of insensitive names and overused tropes further adds to the problems in the film. As a viewer, I would recommend giving this movie a miss and watching something else instead.
In conclusion, while there may be some redeeming qualities to "Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda," the negatives outweigh the positives. As a movie-goer, I expect more from a film, and unfortunately, this movie falls short.
Love Birds (2023)
The only reason Krishna agreed to do this must have been the paycheck
The acting is mediocre at best, and the characters are poorly written and unrelatable. The dialogue is clunky and feels like it was written by someone who has never actually spoken to another human being. The special effects are also lackluster, which is surprising given the huge budget this movie must have had.
The pacing is also off, with some scenes dragging on for far too long while others feel rushed and underdeveloped. It's as if the filmmakers were more concerned with hitting a certain runtime than actually telling a compelling story.
Overall, this movie is a complete disappointment and a waste of time. There are much better films out there that are actually worth your attention. Don't bother with this one unless you're in the mood for some mindless background noise.
