Im Westen nichts Neues (2022)
What is this and why now?
One of the bad things that can happen to film is if it does not know what it is, is it gory front film or is it about the last days of WW1 negotiations. You can't have both.
One of the bad things that can happen to film is to overpressure it with your political views, so much that can harm it.
Is it fair to compare this one with the previous version? That one is possibly the best WW1 film, and the best of all war films to show the complete path of one individual from innocent youth until the death of experienced veteran just around the end of the war.
Nazis banned the book and the first film because they thought it corrupted German youth. The West is now all geared up, marschiert wieder nach Russland, pardon, marching on Russia once more. Yet, we have this antiwar film, no bans.
Seems anachronistic, when we're hearing louder and louder the drums of the new war which will be more horrible than all other wars put together.
Prehistoric Planet (2022)
Not bad, but...
Not bad, but I'd rather watch documentary about HOW they imagined these long gone animals to life. CGI has gone a long way towards reality, in 5 years, more or less, we'll be unable do distinguish real from fake.
Gorky Park (1983)
Communist society
As someone who remembers how it was to live in a communist country, viewing relationships between classes of people in this film was incredibly unconvincing. You can't transplant western police and secret police, like NYPD and CIA, into communist country and expect it to work. In a communist country militia was a god to ordinary people, and secret police was a god to militia.
The Untold History of the United States (2012)
A disappointment
I'm disappointed, this is far below Stone's usual level. Maybe Americans are not enough informed about people and events depicted, but the rest of the world is, more or less. He looks with rosy eyes on communism and Soviet Union while disparaging US.
Below Deck Mediterranean (2016)
Horrible people
I've read about the famous Season 5 incidents before I saw them. Now I saw them and I'm livid.
A good leader has to know their subordinates, find the best way to motivate them, know their mental state. Sandy was horrible with Kiko. Kiko was not the best chef in the world, but he could have stayed the whole season. Sandy completely destroyed his confidence by constantly peeking behind his shoulders and berating him. It was hard to witness the mobbing.
And what to say about that little neckless viper Malia? She knew about the drug way before, but kept her mouth shut. Then she proceeded to force Hannah to change beds, when that failed, she lied to Sandy about the way conversation went. At the end, she played her trump card. I'm disgusted with her.
The Bachelorette (2003)
No Chris Harrison, no watch
This was still watchable while Chris Harrison was in, although it well in the rut. Then woke mob canceled Chris, it removed a big part for me to keep watching it. So, no more Bachelor and Bachelorette for me. Maybe I'll continue to watch Bachelor in Paradise, it's completely different animal.
Terra X: Die Europa-Saga (2017)
Pure propaganda
When Muslims conquer, it's described without adjectives. When Christians conquer, it's bloody, cruel, etc. Typical modern and inaccurate historiography. The First Crusade is launched just like that, with no apparent reason. To explain it, Clark would have to admit that the Muslim Turks have conquered Asia Minor and the Eastern Empire was about to fall. The First Crusade gave 400 more years to the Eastern Empire.
The Bachelor (2002)
Horrible
The last episode felt like one of those Chinese reeducation camps. Keep your head up, Rachael!
Hunting Hitler: Eyewitness Accounts (2016)
The photo
My opinion is that on the supposed Hitler photo is Ante Pavelic (spoken Pavelich), the head of fascist Croatia (1941-1945) who died in 1959.
