T2 Trainspotting

Trainspotting ... after 20 years

I am a fan of the first Trainspotting, so, just to not put myself down, I tried to not expect much, after all, 20 years ahead of the first movie, and a second part ... I didn't know what to expect.
First time I watched Trainspotting, I was around 18 years old, now I am 34 years old, and I can relate even deeper with the characters. A bunch of grown up losers, just trying to have a life. When I was watching this movie, I had the same feeling as when I read Bukowski, a feeling of my-life-is-f#$@%d-up-but-at-least-I-am-not-the-only- one.
The feeling of nostalgia is there, but the movie is not based in nostalgia, it can even be seen as a stand alone movie, without watching the first one. Yes, there are some flashbacks, and some moments that get connected, if not repeated, to the first Trainspotting, but, this is what is expected of a second part, specially a cult movie that many of us grow up with.
The acting, the OST, the plot, everything is perfect. And the characters are the same as the first movie, but grown ups ...
... This is Trainspotting, 20 years after, including the "choose life" talk. Just that, and as-perfect-as-that ...

Can you imagine living your whole life with a voice in your head talking to you 24/7 ? Can you imagine how it must feel to not have a single minute of silence in your whole life ? This is what this movie is about.
The characters are well written, you can feel some kind of empathy with everyone of them. The direction and the timing are not bad, and the photography, even that is not an ambitious one, is good, standard one with no risking frames.
All in all a very entertaining movie, with some open plots, in less than 1 hour and half.

Has someone go psychotic in the past ? I did.
There was a time, in my life, when I went completely psychotic. It is what the drugs and antidepressants mix did to me. Luckily, it was years ago and I'm sane now. But, God, it was such a nightmarish time. You just can't difference between what is real and what is not. Well, let me tell you, what this movie shows is the simply truth. Nobody that didn't go psycho in the past, or is passing through something like this right now, can understand, but, this movie, this is not work of fiction, this is the reality of going down in a psychotic attack. And yes, it's a very confusing time, and yes, the fantasy becomes reality, and yes, you hear and see things that are not there. Man, I just wish nobody that is reading had or have passed through this. I did, and after some years of therapy and medicines, I can say that I'm cure now.
This movie is a very good description of what is to become psychotic.

"spoiler" extraterrestrial beings colonizing our planet, killing the adults and doing an army with our children. Does it sounds familiar ? It's the same plot as Falling Skies !!! Even more, when I was watching this movie, I was thinking if it is somehow connected to that TV show. I think it's not, I think it is a movie adaptation of a book (I'm not sure about that ...).
So, the movie is entertaining ? Yes. Is it original ? No.
I don't hate this movie, I kinda liked it, even that it is somehow like a teenage-sf-movie with some romance mixed in there. But, if you have some free time, or want to watch a nice family movie with the kids, watch it. It's an entertaining movie.

Let's start by saying : I love this kind of films.
OK, now that I say it, let's talk about the movie :
it is the debut of Gosling as a director, and even when you can see clearly influences in his work, I will like to say that it have a character of it's own. I can only compare it with a mix between Tim Burton and David Lynch, two dark-film directors, but everyone with it's own style.
The movie is an urban phantasmagorical fairy tale, a sad poetry of the suburbs and low life.
I can't see something not perfect with this movie, it have a everything : perfect acting, perfect OST, perfect photography, deep characters. Only thing I did like to know more about the background of the characters, a bit more about their story, because I felt a lot of empathy with every one of them (even the twisted ones).
I really want to see more Gosling's works, he have lot of potential as a director.

This movie is not perfect, it will not be a cult classic, and it is not the most deepest movie, but, this is funny as hell. God, I just loved this movie. I want to remark specially the acting, it was so good. I need to say it : I felt in love with Kiersey Clemons (Diggy), she is such a beauty !!!
A thing that put me a bit down is the over positivism of this. But, is a comedy, and, because I had a very good time watching it, I can pass over it.
As I said, it is not the most deepest movie, it is not a classic, but it is funny as hell.

Try to imagine putting 12 years old girls together, for one night, and watch what they do ? How annoying can this be ? 12 years old rich girls being mean to one another, bullying one another, and eating cupcakes ?
Well, this movie is this, and much more (or should I say, less more ?). Now, mix it with very rich people, "horror", and characters that makes you want to smack them in the face.
#Horror, have nothing to do with horror, you can call it thriller, I call it boring. This movie really bored me to hell. The ending is predictable, you can't feel sympathy for none of the characters, and the editing, instead of making the movie looks "artsy", makes it look like a terrible class B-movie.
So, save some of your time, and watch something else instead.

Let's start by warning everyone that if you are not up for a weird, hardcore trip, not to see this movie. Actually, I would have said, if you have something better to watch, don't spend time with this movie.
The movie itself is not bad, the acting is Excellent, the atmosphere is very good, but, there are lot of things that, I think, could have been much better if they had an explanation. Lot of things that happened in this movie, they don't really makes sense, apart from the shocking-factor. Yes, as I said, the acting is very good, and there are some images, scenes, very ambitious and excellent. But, if this movie would have had some kind of context, I think, it could have been much better.
As I said, the movie is not bad, the only thing, I don't see anything else here than the intention to shock the viewer, and to try to make something intelligent, from a movie that could have been better with a closed ending, and some explanation.
I just want my 2 hours back !!!
