8.1, seriously?
29 December 2023
Reading through the reviews and looking at the total ratings, it's clear that something is not adding up. Anyways, South Park should do a bit on this. I remember some seasons ago, there was a murder mystery p**n episode, basically a satire on middle-aged couples getting off to cheesy mystery dramas. This, almost unapologetically, fits that bill. Predictable writing can't be saved by the good acting. I'm only rating this 1 because of the unwarranted 10s flooding the ratings. Honestly, it has some redeeming factors and would maybe be a 5 or 6 at most. I just feel like I'm watching mediocre cable TV with a few scenes showing some nudity.

Are seasons 1 and 2 even the same show?
17 March 2023
Holy moly, season 1 was a ride. One of the best shows that I've ever watched. Unique and intriguing from start to finish. Season 2, however, is beyond boring. I made it 10 episodes and I can honestly say that nothing has changed since episode 2. There's no character development outside of the 3rd episode. Introducing new characters with no plot doesn't make good development, just lazy writing. Fans were saying that season 2 was truer to the manga so I gave them a read. They're right but the writers and directors should know that what's in a series of manga doesn't need to be played out word for word and scene for scene in a show. It doesn't translate well with this show... at all!

It's misleading to have such a fast paced and well-written show in its first season, then to make a U-turn and decide to follow the manga at such a show pace. If the series would've ended at season 1, I would've been more satisfied as a fan. Honestly, shame on MAPPA for this season.

Also, I'm pretty convinced that there are a WHACK of fake reviews on season 2 on here. Most positive reviews have 5 or 6 thumbs up and the negative ones seem to have 15+ thumbs down? Even the newer reviews are trending like this. Pre sad that studios will resort to this lowly work to redeem their work.

A former player of the game. A current fan of the show.
2 January 2023
Well, I just finished the most-current book of the series. Let me just start by saying that I'm nearly speechless in regards to how beautifully and eloquently written, produced, and directed this series has been. There are no cheap shots or tacky tricks. There are no gimmicky plots or simple rabbit-in-the-hat loopholes to be found.

This show has genuinely changed me as a person. I don't know how else to explain it. The complexity and the sophisticated character development and storytelling had me glued to my screen every single night. I don't remember the last time that I've ever felt so invested into the lore of a story from top to bottom. Characters that I didn't enjoy grew on me. Certain ones that I enjoyed most hurt when they'd left.

This show didn't reduce itself to crude, benign, and unsophisticated behavior. For the first time in a longtime, I felt like I was watching a classic. It didn't need cheap tricks to keep me engaged and wanting more. The entire show opened up the complexities of spirituality, love, and loss. With everything going on in the world today, and what we all went through over the past few years, I for one definitely needed a show with some substance. I just didn't expect it to be this one. Maybe... just maybe... it did play a small trick after all, because I was definitely blindsided by how much this show would touch me.

Vox Machina but bad
19 December 2022
As an avid fan of the franchise, I was looking forward to this series adaptation. The character development and storytelling are horrible. The show is so muddy. The first three episodes are extremely difficult to get through because you can see how the show is trying to rip-off of the likes of Vox Machina in terms of character personalities and stylistic dynamics. However, the show falls short.

The first season felt so underwhelming that I don't even think that a second season could make up for it. It really sucks because the franchise had so much potential to be a great TV series..not sure what the directors and writers were thinking with this one.

Loving it. Not sure what the negativity is about.
9 October 2022
This series is awesome. Beautifully created. Fantastic cinematography and balance in the characters. People have been desensitized and will give a 10/10 to anything with nudity nowadays. This show and LOTR franchise doesn't need the gimmicky cancers clouding today's cinema. This series is original, fun, and masterfully created.

How you could give this show under a 7 is preposterous and comical.

If you've read the books and you're a fan of Middle Earth, then do yourself a favor and enjoy this series.

I was hesitant due to some of the criticisms but I'm glad that I decided to watch this with an open mind.

What's with all the hate?
1 September 2022
Seriously, what's with all the negative reviews? It's a little fishy to me. Vikings, the original series, was definitely much better, especially in its first few seasons. However, the original show became so mediocre in its last 2 or 3 seasons. It was so messy.

Anyways, enough about that... I quite like this show. To those complaining about historical inaccuracies... it's a bloody TV show. Get over it. It's entertaining and the characters are likable and interesting. Shield maidens are recorded to have even been the main rulers over small towns, so I don't get what all of these guys are complaining about. And getting upset over a black woman being casted in a role? Gasp. How will we ever recover?

The show is interesting and a breath of fresh air to the Vikings series. Don't listen to the reviews on here for this one. It's enjoyable.

Updated this to 10 stars. Just finished the first season. It gets better and better.

Mature content but childish writing?
23 August 2022
Seriously, who writes their scripts? It's so cheesy. The storyline and production are good but the script is dumb as heck. It ruins the show. I'm giving a 1 star because this show doesn't deserve more than a 5. I don't get how so many people are giving this show 8+.

Interesting artwork that falls flat due to poor writing
19 June 2020
I really don't know what else to say. I tried really hard to like it. The animation is very cool and unique. I just can't get behind the writing and sloppy storyline. Scripting is juvenile and unfunny, and you can clearly see that they're trying their hardest to imitate South Park for its crude language

Not a fan but maybe some people may like it.

It's a Mark Wahlberg movie... Why do I even bother?
9 March 2020
Mark is living the dream. An acting career built upon roles, characters and movies that almost seem to be created by a middle school teen with a low attention span.

This movie, like so many others of Mark's, is a cliché fustercluck. Everything from the acting to the music choices will have you rolling your eyes.

Mark is clearly doing it for the paycheck at this point. I'm just glad I didn't have to walk out of a theatre midway with this one and ask for a refund. Albeit, I'll never get my time back.

Unless you're from Boston or want to watch Papa Smurf with some abs on your TV, skip this one.

Vikings (2013–2020)

First four seasons are 9/10 and last two are 2/10
11 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show completely dies in season four. SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL in the final seasons with Ragnar's sons, more specifically, Ivar. In history, he was the last true Viking to battle the heathens and try to take over their colonies. It started off so promising, too. Bjorn becomes only good for trying to bed every semi-attractive woman who carries a sword. It turns into stupid drama and begins to more so ressemble a cable TV soap opera.

I'm finishing it because there's only season 6 left anyways. It was a great show for its majority, and I hope that season 6 can redeem itself.

Poor casting and not enough direction from the writers in the later seasons is what ruins it.

Where cable has gone to die.
24 November 2019
Cable TV shows showing time and time again why it's a dying breed. Low expectations for this show led by poor results. Acting is horrible. Writing is predictable and it just feels like more cable diarrhea. No idea how you could give this over 5 stars. Definitely appeals to a certain crowd who've condoned such low expectations for entertainment.

Just another attempt at a cable channel looking to cash in on a low budget show with close to 0 creative value. I don't know how someone looks forward to a weekly episode of a show like this one.

Titans (I) (2018–2023)

Perhaps DC's greatest release on television in years
11 November 2019
I decided to plug this in reluctantly after watching a trailer that had a lot to be desired.

Like most people, I grew up in love with the moody and darkness that DC's world had to offer. The seriousness and gloom was always so appealing and really suited the 80s and 90s with its blue collar cinema and strong material. Aside from some Batman movies, I'd lost all faith in DC and its releases on the big screen or TV. A steer of Wonder Woman and Aquaman, and now Titans, seems to be perhaps a taste of what DC is going to offer in the future. One can only hope that this is a sign of things to come.

I can't really see why someone would give this under a 7 or 8 unless they're not big into the superhero genre or just don't like the DC universe. For me, I could care less whether it's DC, Marvel or a modern franchise like The Boys, if it's good... it's good.

Now, if only they could nail a Superman movie, then we'd be set.

Just fantastic... best superhero TV series ever
11 November 2019
Honestly, didn't expect to like this show as much as I did. Binged the entire series over a weekend and rewatched it with my wife.

It's possibly the best superhero show ever. Everything from the acting, writing to the cinematography are just top-notch. No glaring oversights. No sloppy scenes or acting. The writing is tight. Concept is original for a bloated scene and topic.

All of the leads perform really well and sell their roles through their acting. The writers add just enough mystique to keep you guessing and on your feet. The comedy aspect is more of a mature stance in contrast to Marvel's, whom also achieve this well to lighten the mood at times.

I'd even go to say that this shows debut was up there with the likes of Chernobyl.

If you like this series, give Titans a gander. Excited for television in 2020 with all of these fantastic series over the past few years.

Another cable TV show with no substance
6 November 2019
I have no idea how people give this above 5 stars. Everything has been done before. It's not original or even good at that. The show lacks any chemistry or any exceptional aspects to it. However, we live in a world where people are clearly still content with TV shows like this one and enable writers and cable networks to develop bland shows like this one.

24 October 2019
Absolute garbage. Went to see it against my better judgment after some convincing from a friend.

The worst terminator. Another garbage big budget Hollywood movie with no innovation. Welcome to movies in 2019, where it's all about who can have the best and most CGI.

Getting a little bit crazy. There's nothing new with the story. No thought process. Acting is garbage.

Don't see it. Like at all. Ever. Just don't. Save yourself.

No idea what others were watching
19 October 2019
Honestly, this was an easy 7 or 8/10 but the negative reviews on here stem from casual fans. I've gone on each one of the top 3-4/10 reviewers only to see their top rated movies to be anything from Marvel to Twilight.

As someone who has been a Pokémon fan for 22 years and was expecting to hate this movie, I was totally surprised. Good acting, overall good voice acting by Ryan and the graphics/storyline are great. It's not perfect, but it's a huge leap in contrast to other video game and cartoon movies brought to a life through modern CGI.

They did this movie justice. It aligns with the original video game and adapted to a movie format.

Really tired of reading these reviews on movies that are just unfair and not deserving of the criticism.

Another good action movie starring Batista... he's on a roll
27 September 2019
Dave has really been doing well in these past few action movies. Would love to see him on a AAA action film with a higher budget as the lead character. Clearly a good actor, but usually surrounded by low-tier talent and pretty shot writing.

No idea how this has such a bad rating. Of course it's not going to be the next Avengers , but if you're looking for a good action movie with a good lead in Dave, then go for it.

This movie sucked! The acting was even worse!
6 June 2019
Who writes this trash? Almost 3/4 into the movie, I walked out the theater and a manager said, "ya, not the greatest aye?" while quickly glimpsing at what I walked out of.

Holy crap. The acting, directing and writing were all hot trash. Sophie Turner, you may have landed a role in one of the most iconic television shows in history but you can't act worth crap! How does someone get worse with more age and experience? She just has this way about her that reminds me of a melodramatic 13 year old at a birthday party who's upset that it isn't her own. I hope and pray that she never has a big role in any other shows, movies or even a Geico ad for the rest of my life. Hollywood... stop casting her just because of her name! Why does she always look like she's about to cry even when she's smiling? Is she trying to star in a 2002 Avril Lavigne cover band music video? Is she supposed to be edgy? But somehow, when she needs to be sad or angry in a scene, she looks like she just released a weeks worth of backed up bowels and soiled herself, and even though we all know, we have to pretend it didn't happen.

Anyways, movie sucked. Didn't think they could ruin another X-men movie, I was wrong. Wait for this to come out on VHS and rent it once it hits the 99c isle at Blockbuster.

I'm only giving it two stars because the FX and production crew did a great job. Everyone else forgot they were shooting a AAA movie title and decided to participate in making a new Jackass movie with a 200M budget.

Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Season 8, Episode 3
10/10
No idea what everyone else watched
29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have literally no idea what some of these nerds were watching. This episode was poetically finessed and made me feel like I was in the theater watching a major blockbuster movie release.

It was one of the best, if not the best, GoT episode to-date. For the writers, camera crew, producers, directors and actors to all come together for this collaborative effort felt nothing short of epic.

The writers took a turn in which I enjoyed; they went back to some of the true GoT early 1-3 seasons style of writing: no one is safe, no one's the sole hero, and the greatest victory is the Throne, not defeating an ice zombie army.

All I have to say is this, we've been so spoiled as fans by some of the greatest storytelling and cinematography that will ever be witnessed. Tonight was, in my opinion, one of the best and finest displays of an entire cast & crew, both primary and secondary, coming together and nailing a near-perfect display of art.

Bravo, GoT, bravo.

14,000,605 scenarios, and the writers chose this one?
28 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, I just want to get this out there: I didn't hate this movie nor do I think it was a bad movie AT ALL. I'm not comparing this movie to any of the other current MCU movies or really any other movie altogether. How I'm rating this movie is based on the foundation leading to this pinnacle moment, one that will likely be one of the largest movie releases of all-time.

One of my favorite things of this entire movie was the cinematic value. Everything from the camera work, to the directing, story-writing and scripting... even the CGI, all showed to perhaps be one of the most cohesive efforts in film history.

What let me down during this movie was the essential end-result and story leading towards the final showdown with Thanos. The time travel simply felt like a cop out and easier plot to revolve around. I was really looking forward to Dr.Strange blowing our minds with his craftiness, but I was kind of face palming when they decided to use time travel in it all. It was almost anti-climatic.

At the end of this movie, I just felt like the build-up to a final great battle against the strongest enemy in this universe just didn't sum up to what it could've been. Honestly, and I could be totally wrong about this, but I just felt like the last third of the movie was trying to redeem itself. The emotional strain just felt like someone was trying to get me to forget about the shortcomings of this film, but rather focus on the investment that I'd put into attaching myself to the characters and their universe.

If this was a review based on the 22 movies as a single timeline or movie, then I'd give it a 10/10; the consistency of high quality work during all of these movies in almost every aspect's unrivaled. Bravo to all of the members who've worked on these movies in any way.

All in all, it was a good movie. I just feel like this finale could've been the most mind-bending and crazy plot-twist in the history of film, but they settled for a tear-jerker instead.

152M budget, not worth the price of admission.
11 March 2019
I went to see this movie last night with very high hopes. The entire movie is sloppy from start to finish. Brie appears to be clearly out of her comfort zone and it almost becomes cringe worthy towards the middle of the movie. It made me shake my head at times wondering how they ended up casting her for this role while watching the film (not a bash on her other work).

The good remains that in the constant high quality VFX and CGI on display in every recent Marvel movie, but the writing style's lack of evolution and constant repetition from one movie to the next is getting boring.

The jokes and satire are recycle and reused like a dirty diaper.

This was the worst Marvel from the current MCU in my opinion and I'm really looking forward to seeing Endgame finish this MCU off right.

Outlaw King (2018)
10/10
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
16 November 2018
Don't believe the negativity. Netflix made a masterpiece with this film. The cinematography, acting, screenplay are all just screaming that of an A-list blockbuster. Sadly, the reviewers giving this movie any negativity are coincidentally those who give CGI teen-crazed movies blaring reviews. Outlaw King is poetic in every subtle detail this movie has to offer. If you loved movies like Braveheart, this is that, but cleaned up and with cinematography that'll stand the test of time. My only gripe is that I'd wished this would've been a mini series of roughly 4-6 episodes. This story has so much that it seems almost impossible to cram into a few hours. I haven't seen this good of filming since Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

Full of Potential but Suffering from Identity Crisis
8 January 2017
Firstly, I was hesitant in picking up this show after reading the reviews and seeing some trailers on the internet. It took me several weeks to hurdle past the first 4 or 5 episodes, but then I was hooked.

Season 1 had some truly great character developments and left you wondering, "What next?". The story line was fairly predictable from the beginning, but some of the betrayals and plots had significant enough twists that kept you questioning the sky people's next move.

In Season 2, a lot of the surviving characters, both main and secondary presences, felt dragged along and more of an annoyance than an actual pinpoint for the show. At times, I've felt that the writers took away and added characters simply to fill-in gaps and it tended to lead towards sloppier writing. However, I did appreciate some unexpected betrayals and the well-written main plot of the show that led the sky people to their final achievement at the end of the season.

Thirdly, Season 3 feels very loose and unpolished. It feels like the character development is dry and that all of the great twists, plots and changes in the show were bled dry towards the mid-end of Seasons 1 and 2.

All-in-all, the show has potential but doesn't feel like the either the producers/writers/directors are in sync in terms of what the show's identity truly is. Actually, that's a perfect way to describe the lacking parks of this show: an identity crisis. Some actors seem to have adopted different styles of portraying their roles, some more convincing and easier to watch than others. Sometimes, the show feels like it's being maturely written on par with a show by the likes of Game of Thrones, Vikings or Breaking Bad, but then suffers from a case of still wanting to be a teenager with cringe-worthy scenes and character developments.

I truly believe that this show could've been a one of a kind if it just decided to steer far away from some of the casting that's more pleasing to the eyes than the heart and some of cheesiest writing that you'll witness in a while.
