Soul on Ice: Past, Present and Future (2015)
A classic must watch
This documentary takes you on a journey of some amazing Black hockey players and their stories.
It was very cool to see Herb Carnegie's last interview and how much his story was so influential to many. I enjoyed learning about Jaden's journey and interesting and sad to learn about Val James experience and the unfortunate things he had to go through. However his strong will and ability to preserve in order to continue was remarkable to see. This documentary is inspirational, motivational and encouraging for youth. It shows those thinking of playing the sport, that there is a space fit them as well. It's definitely a classic and a must watch.
Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
Great cast and acting for the most part
I usually really enjoy watching Kerry Washington on screen but I literally had to fast forward a lot of her scenes for a few seconds at time to make the overly dramatic annoying expressions and acting stop. The story line itself was alright, nothing insanely brilliant. The fact that the show touches on real life topics was cool but pairing Reese's role as a completely bad person was weird and hard to fathom. I get what the writers were trying to do but the over emphasis of her being the "demon" like character was what made the show for me - a show I would probably only watch one season of. Pearl was an amazing actress as were all the kids. If I have to see another scene of Kerry Washington crying or trying to hold the cry, or trying to show emotion, my head will explode lol.. it's too bad bc she is a great actress. King of Scotland was my last fav movie with her, but I think this show ruined it for her. Overall show isn't too bad, but nothing to write home about.
