Gilmore Girls: Application Anxiety (2002)
A favorite episode
I love this episode. It reminds me just a little of when my daughters were applying to college. I especially liked the part where Lorelai pretends to be Rory on the phone. And the Springsteens are a hoot.
The Andy Griffith Show: My Fair Ernest T. Bass (1964)
Mystery man revealed
Patch S Wimmers played Mr. Schwamp. So the mystery is solved! And I totally agree that this episode is hilarious.
Lancer: Blind Man's Bluff (1969)
One of my faves
I loved this romantic episode as a kid and was so distressed at the ending. Come back, Mattie!
The Andy Griffith Show: Opie's Ill-Gotten Gain (1963)
Goo resolution, but poor teacher behavior
I loved the ending, where Andy realizes he has been wrong. However, it was troubling that Helen was shown not telling Andy about the report card mistake immediately. A teacher at this level should never leave something like that to a child to explain.
The Andy Griffith Show: A Girl for Goober (1968)
One of the better later episodes
I rather liked this episode. It has a good message about what really may count in a relationship.
The Andy Griffith Show: Aunt Bee Learns to Drive (1966)
Strange episode
I have always found this episode troubling. At the beginning of this series, Aunt Bee can already drive! She has her own car! She arrives in it when she comes to live with Andy and Opie. Also troubling is Andy's terribly backward thinking about women.
Star Trek: Voyager: Course: Oblivion (1999)
one of the best
This is a great episode. It raises important questions about the very meaning of existence and does so in s captivating way.
The Andy Griffith Show: The Return of Malcolm Merriweather (1964)
Not the best episode
Love me some Andy Griffith Show, but seriously, this one isn't the best episode by far. Malcolm Merriweather didn't have to pretend to be drunk to solve the problem; he could just have left. What kind of example was he setting for Opie the way he resolved the issue?
In addition, it is perfectly understandable why Aunt Bea doesn't take kindly to all this. Andy hires Malcolm without her input, and Malcolm just takes things over instead of discussing a division of duties with her first.
Star Trek: Voyager: Child's Play (2000)
Excellent episode, guilty parents
This was an excellent episode. I cannot imagine why a few reviewers are on the parents' side, though. No way are they justified. Just look, if you will, at the scene where they tranquilize their son in order to send him back as bait. That alone is chilling enough to prove they are the bad guys here.
