The Power of the Dog (2021)
Long winded twaddle
If you add There Will Be Blood + Brokeback Mountain together you should get an excellent movie considering both of those were masterpieces. However, this movie is about a third as good as each one. It's curiously long winded, obvious and unrealistic. The flower burning scene was just cringe from the moment the men sat down to the moment they left. And not for the reasons Campy would hope. The only thing going for it is the location is STUNNING. But this is a laughably bad film.
Heaven Adores You (2014)
Amateurish
An amateurish production of one of the great Indie Rock talents. It's half formed - nice interviews with his clean and respectable friends from the early years but not the people who knew him on the downslope. His manager hardly features and his descent into drug hell, the squandering of his unique talent and his mysterious death are all completely glossed over. His fans all wanted an in depth documentary and this piece ruins any prospect of that happening. A missed opportunity.
Tenet (2020)
Nolan's worst film
Absolutely nonsensical drivel. The only saving graces are JD Washington and Kenneth "The Branagh" Branagh's excellent performances. And please stop trying to turn Robert Pattinson into a serious actor. He just doesn't have the chops. Also the sound mixer/editor needs to retire immediately. Only people who liked Chappie will like this film.

Bang average drama
Very well shot but adds very little to the war film canon. The two main characters are breathy thesps, better suited to the theatre, both over-enunciating every word in wide eyed overacting. It's a tiresome film, with a couple of promising set pieces but unrelentingly dull. The characters are all shallow and we don't spend enough time with any of them to get to know them beyond war film cliches. The only good thing about the film was a fantastic turn by Benedict Cumberbatch in a tiny role, reminding the viewer that perhaps we take his talent for granted. It's a stark contrast between a very good actor like him and...well..the two main plodding actors.
