The Great Gilly Hopkins (2015)
One of the best movies I've ever seen
It's 2/10/19 and I can't believe I never saw this movie until today. I love Kathy Bates as an actress but this character as Trotter is expressed as the epitome of love and giving in an unselfish way, I want to wrap her in a box and take her home with me. Bravo to Ms. Bate's ability as an actress to express the debth of the character. This movie grabs at your heartstrings and keeps you wrapped up so tight until all the love in the world explodes when the bow is untied. I cried like a baby and felt that this is what life is all about, unselfish love. Great movie, great script, great acting and just a perfect movie.
All We Had (2016)
Surprisingly great movie worth watching
Acting is excellent from the entire cast. Deep characterization kept my attention all the way through the film and so true to life experiences. Having never read the book, there is no disappointed view as other reviews I've read. I found the story and the struggles to be so realistic by these seasoned actors, it's spot on. Everything from acting, make up, wardrobe, set, directing, cinematography was excellent! A true gentleman of a movie.
A Star Is Born (2018)
Good but not great
For acting, directing and singing I thought it was really good, but the intimacy between the two main characters was lacking. Some people said they cried, I did not feel that at all. Doesn't go as deep as the 70's version.
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Love, love, love Mamma Mia
I can watch this movie over and over and over again and be very very happy each time. Cast perfectly the actors gave each character the depth and warmth they deserve for this moving story. It is very touching with just the right bit of humor at the right beat. My favorite scene where Meryl & Pierce sing a duet on a mountain puts the whole love story in perspective. Anxious to see the next movie!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Finally a Queen movie
The actors in this movie did a phenomenal job telling an insider view of life as a rock star. It's an honor to see who Queen's master musicians are, who's music poetically continues to moves us, and watch how they creatively designed there deep, magical, emotionally moving music. The entire time I was watching I was whisked into their characters, the storyline, never once thinking of anything else but what was on the screen. I didn't want this movie to end, the beats were fluid. I left the theater feeling I know who these people are now, not who I thought they were. I have a new respect for all of them and especially Freddie Mercury. This movie is awesome and long overdue. Bravo.
Like Father (2018)
Good flick!
Deep subject matter that many can relate to. Great characterization and acting. Could even say it was "cheesy" due to the comedic aspect.
Hereafter (2010)
Good story just slow
This is a really good story but it moves along so slowly for no reason. Seems like they tried to stretch it just to keep us watching.
The Captive (2014)
Great movie!
The storyline and characterization was deep and relatable. Good acting & cinematography. I'm not typically into Mysteries, but this was a really great movie! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Definitely worth watching.
