The Innocents (2018)

Very intriguing & Well Done

Don't believe the negative reviews - This is an awesome mini series. It is very well done, with excellent acting and a very intriguing storyline. I enjoyed the slow burn as it made for a satisfying watching experience as things were slowly revealed. Also, the music is really enjoyable as well. The young leads did a terrific job with carrying the story - they are terrific actors. The teenage love storyline is perfect and not too sappy and, surprisingly had some to do with the overall storyline.

If you like sci-fy on the lighter side with a lot of mystery, you will definitely enjoy this mini series. I highly recommend.

A Jazzman's Blues (2022)

Excellent movie from Tyler Perry

I am nicely surprised to learn that Tyler Perry both wrote and directed this outstanding film. The acting and script are truly excellent. The depiction of the 1940s lifestyle was outstanding as well. Perry does a truly excellent job of portraying the plight and struggle of "colored" folk in America at that time, but he also depicts the richness and beauty of the black culture. I thoroughly enjoyed the singing as well. The cast did an outstanding job. While some reviewers felt the ending was unresolved, I respectfully disagree. The ending is PERFECT and indicative of the state of life in America then and now. I think that was the whole point - life is difficult and often very unfair, especially for African Americans.

A Most Enjoyable Summer Binge

I have thoroughly enjoyed binging out on GOT! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a series so much. The characters, acting, scenery, dialogues, plots & subplots are so very intriguing. It is quite refreshing to watch something that isn't so completely predictable. Also, I'm usually very annoyed by sex, violence & gore - which are in abundance here - but I'd say it is appropriate for this time period & not terribly gratuitous. This series is loaded with action & pleasing visuals AND there is a fantastic storyline! It is exceptionally pleasing to see a production of this caliber with a well thought out storyline. I found myself totally shocked, cheering & lamenting over the many plot twists ... AND the dragons are totally awesome! As I write this review, I'm on Season 7 and, unlike several other reviewers, I still give this a solid 10. Many reviewers seem disappointed in the finale (which I haven't seen yet) but I say no matter how this ends, I highly recommend GOT for a most enjoyable watching experience. Did I say I REALLY like the dragons?

I made it 27 minutes into the first episode and just couldn't stomach anymore. Gladly, I made it just long enough to see Carrie's gorgeous shoe closet, but the cringeworthy "woke" radio show just prior was too much. I really loved SATC & faithfully watched every new episode + the movies when they came out. Giving a few stars for the exquisite NYC scenery & inclusion of some beautiful diverse actresses. Sadly, the dialogue is a serious flop. For once, I agree with most other reviewers here - this was too awful to continue watching.

The American (2010)

Meh ... but there's George & Violante & Italy!

The AWESOME cinematography & chemistry of George Clooney & Violante Placido together is such a waste with this VERY boring (non-existent?) script. Seriously, there is like maybe only 5 pages of dialogue for the whole movie! Really odd!!! I really loved the Italian scenery and the steamy scenes with George & Violante (albeit limited). The screenwriter apparently called out & they finished the movie without him. What. A. WASTE!!! ... but worth watching. Really, you can click Mute & you won't miss anything at all.

Ophelia (I) (2018)

Not bad - Lovely scenery & costume design

I don't understand why the reviews for this one are so bad. I found this movie quite enjoyable. The acting seemed fine to me and the scenery and costume designs were really lovely. I enjoyed watching this movie a lot. I suppose those looking for the traditional portrayal of Hamlet might be disappointed. I enjoyed the updated dialogue and storyline from Ophelia's point of view. Give it a chance - you'll likely be pleased you did.

Midnight Mass (2021)

Okay but really could have been shorter

Have to agree with others - Not sure how this one received so many raving reviews. It was meh ... Had a lot of potential but the large amount of meandering monologue type of character exchanges took a lot of the interest out. Don't be afraid to grab a snack during these monologues - you won't miss much!

The build up to the monster reveal was very intriguing. Although I know many will disagree, I also really liked the authenticity with which the Catholic faith & music was portrayed (minus the monster stuff).

The last couple of episodes seemed to rush thru dialogues with relationship explanations which were barely (or not at all) mentioned in the middle episodes. The beginning 2 episodes move WAY too slowly & provide little help in advancing the storyline.

Overall, I'd say it would have been more enjoyable if it was shortened considerably (or if one of the subplots was developed more fully throughout).

Don't listen to the haters - This is an okay movie, worth watching. I don't understand the negative comments about the acting - seemed fine to me. The script was a little disjointed, but still enjoyed watching it.

A Huey P. Newton Story (2001 TV Movie)

One man show? ... dull

So very disappointed in this production. I really wanted to see more of a traditional movie about Huey Newton. I wasn't expecting a one man show - I found that to be very odd. The historical footage was terrific to see & I felt the acting was really strong, but I found the one man show style of this production to be quite tedious & distracting. I got bored & stopped watching halfway through.

Waste of great cast!

Great cast but WTF is up with the screen play? I got half way thru & still couldn't figure out if there was actually a plot or storyline. Didn't feel compelled to each all the way thru & seriously don't feel I've missed anything. Waste of time.

Sexy & Fun Binge-Ignore the Haters

Ignore the haters - This series is WELL worth the watch. Very sexy & exciting with excellent acting & lots of steamy onscreen chemistry. Yes, lots of sex scenes, but hey - this is Netflix & it is called "Sex Life" ... !!! Also, there is actually a story here - not just eye candy. I enjoyed binging on this series as much as Sex & the City and 9 1/2 weeks.

Discarded Things (2020)

So very beautiful

A really beautiful movie, excellent script, awesome casting, great directing & OUTSTANDING music. A stellar performance by the lead actress, Karen Abercrombie, makes this well worth the watch. I also really loved the teenagers - portrayed very believably & really moving dialogues for each of them. This is easily my most favorite movie from PureFlix so far. I cried twice!! Highly recommend for a quiet Sunday afternoon. The title song, "Discarded Things" by Ian Grey, is LOVELY. I'm going to look for it on ITunes. Very enjoyable.

The Healing Powers of Dude (2020)

I really love this show - It is REALLY cute but also very funny. How refreshing it is to watch a family show & remain engaged with the story - EXCELLENT writing with very talented young stars. I love the diverse cast - & especially that it includes a handicapped character who is so witty. The voice of the little dog - Dude - is soooo perfect & hysterical! The dog is a terrific actor as well. Very enjoyable, wholesome entertainment. Thank you!

I've gotta say I agree with many of the other reviewers here on this one. The cinematography & acting is terrific, but the script is seriously AWFUL! This one has all the makings of a great movie - terrific actors, beautiful scenery, & thought provoking idea, but the story just doesn't go anywhere. How can you make George Clooney & the end of the world completely tepid? Before watching this movie, I would not have thought it possible. My 5 out of 10 stars rating is more generous than this movie deserves. Disappointing!

Really enjoyed this movie - BEAUTIFUL cast & scenery of Martha's Vineyard. Yes, predictable but very entertaining. I especially LOVED seeing so many GORGEOUS, fit African American actors & actresses. Lots of eye candy! Highly recommend!

Enjoyable romantic comedy. Yes, it is the predictable girl meets boy storyline, but I thought the script was perfect for this genre. The look at the online dating world was hilarious. Cute movie with good acting. True, the 2 leads didn't have a lot of chemistry with each other, but their hesitation worked with the storyline Very enjoyable, clean, feel good story to watch when you want something light to enjoy. I would love to see the 2 leads in more movies.

365 Days (2020)

Very Sexy Movie

A very sexy movie - REALLY enjoyed watching the extraordinarily gorgeous actors & scenery. The script could be stronger & the sex scenes are pretty much soft porn (& VERY steamy), but I enjoyed watching this movie nonetheless. The lead actors are GORGEOUS - I would watch them in anything! Loved the wardrobe, styling & location scenery. Storyline revolves heavily around sex, so I didn't feel the lengthy sex scenes were gratuitous. On par with 9 1/2 Weeks. A great date movie. Not sure why the reviews are so bad - worth watching.

This has all the makings of a great suspenseful movie, but the way it's presented is confusing & hard to follow. Not a complete waste of time but leaves me feeling disappointed.
