The Offer (2022)

Very impressed but not perfect

These generation Is going back to the days I missed with the television movies and series. People are bank rolling on TV series. I'm not talking about the streaming ones like narcos or orange Is the new black. This series comes out every Thursday so if you binge watch the first 6 episodes like I did you have to wait. Luckily for me it's Thursday.

But enough about that let's get to the actual review of the first 6 episodes I watched. This is gonna start out slow. So for all you godfather fans like me who are wondering who is who cause you are ready to put the puzzle pieces together then stop. They won't be honest all there till the 4th or 5th episode.

This series is mostly about the miles character who is the main producer and his battles with separate inviduals on how to get the godfather producing. It will go in detail from quiting his computer it job to how got to paramount and hired his secretary. I mean they have time so nothing is rushed. This also goes over joe Columbo and his leadership of the Columbo crime family.

Let me say this before anyone watches this series. This isn't going to be a factual movie other than the names involved. I also took off two points for that. Obviously frank Sinatra isn't calling any mafia boses up on the phone and cussing them out. But he did see puzzo in the restaurant and tell him where he could go. And secretaries are going to schedule a sit down with a mob boss.

Other than that I do believe members of the mob where on production set. Robert Evans character was funny and we could not stop laughing. My girlfriend and I were like he might be doing some method acting he was too good at being a jerk boss. Also don't like how puzzo is made to look like an overvweight gambler.

Frankly this series is good but if they would have made the actual godfather with this tone of diminishing Italians as they do in this...it wouldnt have made. It's a 7. I could go on the injustices were done to Italians in this movie but I'm not.

Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects (1989)

This might be the most disgusting film ive ever seen!!

Ive looked at about 50 ratings. And Im not sure if they are reviewing the same movie. The plot a lot of times decides how the movie is going to go. Even the best actors can't turn a lack luster plot in to a pot of gold. But this is beyond trash. So start off they have an under age girl tied to a bed. And i didn't look what nicole eggart age was 17 at the time or 16 take you pick.

And the movie is so racist. Now we have a japenese guy straight from the main land, cheating on his wife rubbing on this. Young white girl legs. And then to double back they even make racist comments and charles gets out his car to talk about them owning the town or taking over the town of LA. Yep LA.

So this movie truly disgusting. I tried watching this with my girlfriend and she just walked out. I do not blame her, we love charles bronson. Death Wish 3 is her favorite, and they do a lot of rape scenes in there. But selling of under age girls as you plot is just disturbing. And where is the action to be honest.

Your cop is a half ass vigilante who goes around roughing up wanna be bad guys. And he doesn't even look like a bad guy he looks like some knock off wanna be gang member. I don't get the black guys part either, He barely speaks. Seems like he has 4 lines but he supposed to be his partner in all this. And the scenes where they take the little girl and bring her in the room but 3 different dudes come in in and out. Ridiculous.

I actually changed my rating and gave this a 1. The 80's should stick to grown women and leave the law and order SVU to the 90s. I don't see the purpose of them, probably why cannon went under. This in 1998 and up wouldn't even made production. And out of all that, its corny, looked forced (and im not talking about the women). If you want a filth movie. Have a better plot, better actors, and make it about drugs, and involve somehow a bad guy who is convincing. The fight scenes were pathetic as well. This might be one of the worst movies Ive seen.

Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous (2008)

Yes you should see this movie. No you do not need to by this on blu ray. If they make it. There I got out of the way the questions I have when watching a review.

Now to the real fear about Jessica Simpson acting. It's not that bad. I would say it's below average but not bad. Of course I'm a sucker for one liners. So when Vivica tells the other girl "you have one one a pass" and Jessica snaps back with "you can pass that pass...Right here". I cut her some slack for her acting in the begging.

Now to the army. If you are going to watch this you have to ask yourself "are you familiar with bootcamp in the military"? If you are you will notice the same uniforms they were now. The ranks in the right places. They terms are correct. When the part where she was on the bus and it abruptly stopped I told my girl friend "here we go with drill sergeants". All the insults are spot on. Could be cause this was made in 2008 and i went to boot camp 2011 in the same fort Jackson.

I just want to say Vivica fox was excellent. I truly feel the script was terrible but she made the best of it. The girl who had red hair was a terrible actor but in bootcamp there is always one like her. Who is just so gun ho about everything. So that's pretty accurate.

I took of 1 point alone on the sergeant who was supposed to be a drill sergeant. Now I have heard of things like that going on when I was there. But the flirting was too much. His character didn't add anything to the script. It was a great story about his father but he should have went back to being tough on her.

Overall it gets a 7. The uniforms are spot on, the language is spot on, Vivica looks great, never was a fan of Jessica but she looks great and they did great with a terrible written script for an outdated plot. I mean Goldie Hawn private Benjamin is 1980. Stripes 1981. In the army has to be no later than 1995. The whole take a average unmotivated civilian and push the boot camp is an old plot. I've never seen an marine,navy, air force one. Why cause the army is the best hands down at turning people with low morals and character into people with integrity, self service, loyalty, duty, and personal courage.

Disclosure (1994)

Demi moore in her typical 90s role.

Demi more was definitely the it girl in the early 90s. After a few good men, people somehow wanted her in everything from gi jane, to indecent proposal to this. This movie was definitely one of her better acting roles.

Let me say I'm usually generous with 90's movies. I watch these with my girlfriend and she gives everything almost 2 points lower than what i give. And she gave this a 5 and I gave it a 6. So we almost on the same path.

I will start with the problem with this movie. They don't have a simple plot. Now i didn't read the book but just off what I'm seeing this movie was about a woman who wanted strike a merger with a big company and by the it girl in a company while at the same time sticking it to her ex by claiming a sexual harassment charge. Thats a tough sell for a movie with a plot.

Demi more was extremely attractive and some of the lines you hear the lawyer and his boss say about "you got sexually assaulted by a woman, come on" are the same type of stuff they would tell you today. Nobody would care.

But to actually critique the movie and give a "if you must watch it" or "is it good" type of review. Yes, its good. Michael douglas is great. And the woman who played the wife was great. Although Im truly upset cause the way she acts after her husband cheats on her and the stuff that comes out in that conference is the way no woman have ever acted in the US after something like that. Most would have divorce papers ready in hand at the conference. Her character was awful, which kind of rubbed me the wrong was an adult who has been in relationships.

The real great part of the movie was the ending. I thought after the conference as over and the results came out the movie was over. Cause i couldn't remember what actually happened. And to my surprise the ending was great, scripted as movies are to make the guy come out on top but it was a good ending. And demi had some very good words at the end of the movie.

Again i usually don't type this much about a movie review but this movie is really strange. This is not a topic that is discussed even 30 years later. I got this movie for 7.99 digitally nothing about this says i need to own this on 4k. But it was good to watch and great acting from demi and Michael Douglass, It just took a realistic problem that never really got fixed in society and made it into some fake fighting for you job corporate thing which a lot of movies like to do. So for that it gets a 6. Get a new plot or dig deeper and tackle the issue. You lost 4 points for no reason why you could have been on to something.

Asian Ghost Story (2016)

I expect to see this writer and director on American greed soon!!

How did this get to the producers and get finalized? How did cynthia put her name on this? This is the worst movie I've seen.

It's just so confusing the girl is wearing a winter jacket and the guy has some cut off shorts and no shirt and ankle socks. I would go over what made this movie bad but it's too much to cover and barely worth the review.

I'm not sure what happened just good ole one liners, nudity and things blowing up. It sucks because this movie was crystal clear. If you clicked on this movie and wanting to see cyntha kick some butt. Then find her in something else.

Honor and Glory (1992)

This is not a 4.1. Its at worst a 5.5. I mean thats if you don't like action flicks and the corny dressing and the dialogue they have. Then i can see at its worst to give it a 5.5. But with that said I'm giving it a 7. I mean its still corny, it still has some really cheesy lines (even for me which i watch and like these movies). If you like Cynthia, and action kicks and cheese 80's/90s movies you will like this a lot.

But the main bad guy slade (john miller) is over the top awesome. For minute i just thought oh no they got another college boy with slick back hair playing a talented fighter. Then he took his shirt off and got to work on some of those people on the set. Plus the lines he was saying were funny and he delivered them well. HIs character is what made this entertaining.

When i first saw this movie I thought Cynthia Rothrock was going to be the main character. Heck Im not if she was even the no 4 on the list. The black dude had some major roles in this film. Which back then was a little surprising. They started out with the typical body guard. Seen it before a thousand times. But my girlfriend and I watched it and realized he was flirting with the main girl. We definitely were shocked. Most of these movies unfortunately would never have a plot with a black man having eyes for the main character. And she reciprocate it. So that to us was truly before its time.

I really don't have much to say about both females in this movie. Their acting was all over the place and not really well written. Im a huge fan of cynthia but very few fight scenes worth mentioning and not many one liners. I will say the main woman reporter kicking that can in that woman face made us laugh.

Overall this movie was funny very underrated. And the people who probably wrote those low ratings were actual movie critics who really have no idea and aren't fans of movies like this. And thank you for this generation developing all these sites so i can watch the movie legally on their site for free. Cause there was so many of these made i am sure i missed a lot of them.

Why did this movie get made? What is the plot? Why were these women fighting each other? And who was this supposed to be vilian? I had a lot questions when this movie was over. It had some things going for it. Steven segeal, two very attractive women. A get out prison high/high reward situation. But yet no bad cop good cop.

Not even clear on who the bad guy is or what is his porpose. Next time make a role for the women. Make a bad guy who doesnt look like hes a 30 year employee at a factory. And dont disrespect the military with a captain consoling a full bird colonel cause he has mental issues. What a ridiculous plot. And use some one liners as well.

The choppy editing in the theater made me give it 3. Plus the girls didnt help the movie usually attractive women do that.

The Blue Lagoon (1980)

There really is no point to this movie

This movie was talked about a lot when i grew up in the 80s. I never sat down and watched the hole movie till right now. And blown away how much nudity there was. I mean they spent 80% of the time naked.

I feel this movie misses a lot of great opportunities to have some context. But it just ia stuck on two kids doing what it takes to survive on an island after their ship sinks.

I only gave it a cause the acting was great and i loved seeing the wild life. I wasnt even aware octapuses ate crabs. I mean some species i only read about in books.

Not to mention brooks shields at the time was only 14. Why and how did this movie get made?

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

We are not the Champions!!

So I finally sat down and watched this movie with my son. He started to love queen recently and my girlfriend heard of queen but only recognizes a few songs. I listened to Queen and could recognize they had a unique talent outside of just music. They could bring audiences in with something no one has ever heard. Freddie voice you could hear in the stadium without a microphone. It was powerful.

The movie came out in 2018, i didn't watch it till the end of 2021. I waited to see it. I knew just what i would see. Disaster. They did the same thing they did with wonder-woman 1984 (and that was leap years better). They made the 80's and. 70s look too neat and pure. Im not sure what they thought when they made this movie. Maybe kids were going to watch it. But even Freddie sexuality seems like it was forced. Never really talked about and all of sudden he is kissing a guy. Next thing you know he is leaving his girl and saying he is by sexual. I mean where were the plot with that?

Also where is the good guy, bad guy or any character that was explained. They did mentioned he was from India. But when when they showed his parents they didn't explain anything just that his dad didn't like what he was doing. Seemed forced. Nothing really to add to the movie.

And everything was too right. Every-time a decision got made it was always the right decision. No ups and downs (the 70s and 80s were filled with a lot of them). And they really didn't go over any of the band history. Fights seemed staged even for a movie. Conversations didn't seem real. And for goodness can we have some comedy a little. I didn't find the film once amusing. These are the British they had a sense of humor.

The worst part about the whole film is its clean. Why when show scenes in 80s movies apartments and people look so clean. Have they seen the mid 70s to mid 80s. The big cities had trash a lot of places and people didn't shave a lot. Where are the drugs, the women and so on. People looked natural. I can't believe the ratings i see on this crap. Try making a movie and keeping it nice. Or stay out of that generation. The doors was better than this movie. I would give it a 1, but movies now come in dolby atmos and dolby vision so thats worth a 4.

I can't quite understand how people left anything less than a 6 for a review for this movie. The only reason I say six is cause they do make jokes that are offensive to other cultures and genders so to speak. But other than that, it was quite funny. There definitely were some parts of the movie that people may not have appreciated. Some viewers really don't understand the whole 1988-1992 genre that seem to raise between decades and the start of one.

That would definitely explain all the references to Africa that the students were doing. Back then Black People including hip hop was all about wearing African Medalians and so on. This movie was touching on that just a bit. I have to agree with one viewer. I was surprised when I found it it was an all black cast. I mean I remember the movie when it came out but it was never brought up much in that time its all black cast. Probably cause they thought that was something that was going to be normal.

I watched this with my girlfriend who never heard or seen this movie and she loved it. The real funny part was Grace Jones. She was a little before my time in the early 80s so by 90s i saw a small glimpse of her. Definitely a raunchy movie but it was hilarious. Plus Im a sap for love stories. Plus I love how this made black women look. Powerful. Most movies to this day don't even do that.

Id like to have a word with those people who gave it a 5 and really a word with those who gave it a 1. There is nothing bad about this movie. Definitely comedy. Plus its just a great sound track. Now if we as black people could get back to making this type of movies that would be nice. This movie is like a mix of working girl mixed with definitely maybe.

Chicago Overcoat (2009)

The most underrated wise guy movie.

I have a lot respect for frank vincet. I also love voice offers and a great actor telling the story. Ray liota in good fellas, robert deniro in the bronx tale, and joe pesci and robert deniro in casino. It truly fills in the gaps of bad writing. I read some reviews and im just wondering what movie they were hoping for. This a movie about the Chicago outfit. You are going to get cops, wise guys and family life. That's just what its going to be about. That's what they all are about. I love this movie cause usually its about the rise and fall of a certain member but this was about a soldier who was passed over for capo. And was getting old. I really love this take. Maybe thats where some reviews are upset. They love the flashy cars, fancy watches and they slick talking gangstas but forget about it. This movie is told from a soldier perspective who wants move up the ranks after being passed over for decades. Who can't relate to not getting promoted at their job. Thr tommy gun was a bit much. But its nice throw back. And frank Vicent is funny. Maybe a few of you forgot why they call them "wise guys". If anyone is looking for mob movies and wants to see frank Vincent in a lead role this is it. Ive seen them all. Godfather, casino, goodfellas, bronx tale and so. This is up there.

Cop Land (1997)

The title is boring and so is the script.

I actually looked at some reviews and i feel we watched two different movies. For one acting is only good if there is a plot. For this many great actors, the plot is terrible and nothing is explained. For starters robert deniro character comes up so many times before you actually realize he is internal affairs. Harvey keitel character is in street colthes half of the movie so you cant tell if hes a sheriff or just a cop. And the actor from terminator 2 is in street clothes as well and then you figure out he is a cop. A lot of unnecessary fighting from cops and so on. Whats the point of ray liota character really? These reviews want to see a good cop movie with a action hero. Check no further than arnold movie where he has to stop a mexican cartel from crossing the border. This was really just a bunch of great actors getting together. The plot was not there. If the director wanted a hit. He would have more action behind it. I mean it took the whole movie for stalone to act and he still was passive as hell. Michael rapport as your victim on the run. Good grief who thought of this. You wanna see a good victim on the run from the mob go watch the movie "run" with a young Patrick Dempsey. And where are the one liners in this movie? 3 things a good 90s movie needs. Things blowing up, one liners and some form of nudity. Especially if you talking mob or action ones. All these reviews talking about acting. Tango and cash stalone did a lot better. Dont play stalone with this wanna be mob movie.

The Terminator (1984)

1984 does it again

I don't know where to start with this classic. What an imagination. I gave this a 9. It was before its time but the character Kyle. He was very convincing. I honestly could have gave this a 7 had someone thought of the idea before. The idea alone is incredible. A cyborg human robot chasing someone from the future. And I watched the extras and it went over the cut outs and back lighting. They even made it look like they were running over skulls. Where in movies now its cgi and digital effects they had to really be creative. Arnold is great in this. But not his best work. Either way james made a master piece. Terminator 2 was better but with out the creativity here it never would have existed.

Martial Law (1990 Video)

I dont know whether to appreciate these these movies or look at them in disbelief. I watched martial law 2 first by accident before I seen this one. And the two were similar and had nothing to do with each other. I remember hearing about cynthia when I was younger so now that I'm 41 years old and have time I decided to catch back up on the 90s action flicks I missed. And I'm impressed.

This disappointing part is how far they go to use stereotypes in these movies. The black dudes always look typical and usually a superstar small role with the same hair cuts. Even the same as the Asian guys. Known karate experts barely talk. It's sad how much they ripped off from Japan.

And of course your typical white guy who seems to have learned from the asians hand taught "grew up in Hong Kong" type. The whole raised by wolves type of plot. One of a kind.

With that said this movie gets a 6 from me only cause it sticks with the plot. You can follow this movie super easy. The one liners were pretty good. But the acting wasnt that terrible. Its definitely re watchable.

I would have gave it an 8 but i dont recall anything blown up. I dont recall any nudity and david carradine saved the bad guy scenes. But not his best acting. Cynthia saved this movie. Her high kicking antics made it watchable

Excessive Force II: Force on Force (1995)

Seen the other few reviews on this movie and I'm disappointed. First of all its okay to reference a movie as part of a sequel but it's not fair to judge it off anything else but this movie. I didnt see the first one so I'm judging it solely off this movie compared to all the action movies I watched. And this ranks up high.

I know people will say you need to watch more movies. But I've seen hundreds of them. And who ever directed this knew about the action movies. I admit not enough nudity floating around for a mid 90s b rated movie.

But that's all I come with. This money had an audience. And I felt they gave their audience more than what they needed. The explosions were powerful and it wasnt you typical car running off the road automatically explodes.

You have a ton of one liners. So many over the top and so funny. Even after the girl shows up at the grave yard and ask the gang to give the cops badge they just beat up. The gang leader snaps off "is this chick serious". My girlfriend and busted out laughing. Cause we were thinking the same thing.

The action in this movie flowed and wasnt forced. The plot was simple and the fight scenes started off bad but they started to get better.

A few things that were bad about this movie. The bad guy didnt look that bad. I dont know if the 90s ran out of bad looking guys but guys who tell hot girls "dont mess up my hair" before sex shouldn't be playing bad guys in action movies. With that said the chick in the pool wasnt all that hot. And these two dudes were starring like she was kathy Ireland. The lead female was beautiful but the crop top as part of your professional uniform is over the top. Matter fact the whole wardrobe for the film looks off. But maybe that's a budget thing. My favorite part is her telling that guy to "put that thing at ease soldier". One of my favorite one liners ever

Dolemite Is My Name (2019)

Damn lucky I didn't give this a 5 and below!!!

As I would assume most, I have watched a lot of Eddie Murphy material. From stand ups to Saturday Night live, to all his movies. So I have seen better. Plus I have high standards for remakes and documentaries of generational actors. And i would call Rudy Ray moore just that. I watched Dolimite with my girlfriend who is in here 20's and never even heard of him. She laughed all the way through the whole movie. She feel asleep on this.

Lets just start off with what I don't like, the portrayal of the late 60s and early 70s. Now I was born in 77 but around 84 you could still see what was left of the mid 70's and late 80's. And you could feel it. The struggle. This movie made everything seem way too easy. The struggle only seemed temporary. Had too much a 2019 feeling of "instant gratification" that you find in today generation.

The person who made this movie had the actors and resources. It was well advertised. I even got netflix for the first time in a while just for this movie. So excited for it to come out only to watch it and see the missed a lot. The 70's were filthy time. It was a struggling time for black people right after the civil rights movement. The director seemed to be stirring away from that and for me you cant show a movie without showing a true struggle.

This is exactly why the "get down" went off and didn't get renewed. Cause they just made things seem unreal to the point where its a documentary mixed in with pleasantville. This is suppose to a movie in the 70's? Yeah okay, the only thing they got right was the nudity and that was a little too well placed for me. In the 70's in those films breast were just coming out anywhere and everywhere.

This review may be long but its a review on the film and they missed the boat on this one. Plus it should have been funny. Ill give it a 7 cause it was a great idea and was some great acting in it. But the results were far from great. Quit trying to sugar coat the 70's and give it me raw.

Death Wish 3 (1985)

This is definitely something you can watch with a friend and laugh

This movie was really an easy script. I mean its more like a video game instead of a movie. Yes it has the cheesy girl who looks natural and geeky in glasses then turns into a model on a date in it. Typical 70's and 80's script writing. But it also has some real super funny things in it like Police chief's running down streets side by side with vigilantes fighting off crime one by one.

I was going to give this a 6. But I just watched this with my girlfriend at wee hours in the morning and she loved it and thought it was hilarious. And we watched Commando and Rambo as well. This really has more of a comic attire to it. Of course as of now its an old movie and might not ever been seen by a newer generation of people. But if anybody discovers the death wish series, this is definitely one to watch. I laughed harder from this one than any other one. Death Wish 4 was good but it wasn't as funny as this one.

This one i could watch over again and still be satisfied. The plot is old school as hell. And after seeing things like police academy and other movies their attire for gangs fits in.

Killing Them Softly (2012)

A prime example of don't make it to complicated!!

What a great movie!! I will start with that. And I've seen a lot of movies over the years. And frankly after 2001 I'm not impressed. The movies have got too corporate and the acting is always... eh. I notice this movie didn't really have any female actors in it, unless your count the hooker. And she was short lived.

But wow I was in a surprise with this movie. No bad acting. The acting was great all over the board. This just what I like to see in movies. Violence to the point where its subtle and truly unexpected but expected. You knew somebody was going to killed, heck you may even predicted they are going to get killed but by who and how sometimes eluded me.

I know some people will be turned off by the politics in this but I kind of liked it. The director tied it in to the movie. I guess people come to reviews to get a real detail of what they are going to see and its really nothing surprising. It's a mob movie, great acting, cussing and some famous actors. Thats it, but its about two guys who hit s table full of poker players which is ran by the mob. And mob wants people to die for it. There really is nothing to give away. You have to watch how it unravels. And to be honest it has a boon dock saints feel to it.

I almost gave it an 8 but there was no women in this and it would have added to the story instead of one alcoholic telling about his struggles. I know some people maybe left dangling at the end but I felt it was completed. I honestly think this movie didn't make much do to advertisement. I lot of movies really don't advertise right. If you want to watch a great movie with some interesting twist, this is it.

Terminator Salvation (2009)

The 80's and the 90's aren't coming back.

I have seen a lot of reviews on here, more than I usually read. And it is way too many 1's. This movie is no where near a one rating. I've been watching a lot of movies since I was a little kid. From cheesy 80's flicks, to straight to TV. This is no where near a 1. This movie sits at a 7 for me. Would have got an 8 but I'm super hard on the female acting in these new generation of movies.

This movie by now is 9 years old so nothing would be giving it away. But with that said Linda Hamilton in the first one was 19 years old. And she can act. Which is why 7 or 8 years later in Terminator 2 her acting was polished the movie was even better. It is not a secret if the female character can act you are going to have a good movie. The female acting in this movie was decent which is why it got a 7 from me.

But I can see why people gave this a one. The first Terminators were scary. The machine just kept going. You also had the awesome 80's music, along with the clothes. I mean seriously Sarah O conner was riding an 80's scoter and listening to head phones. And going to the club. Just a lot of vintage stuff in that movie which brought it back to the 80's. The 90's was even better in T2, crazy hair cuts, dirt bikes and the graphics in that at the time were unique.

But they did try to incorporate some of the old ideas. John Conner goes "come with me if you want to live", the motor cycle scene still is exciting as it was almost 30 years ago. The naked terminator. Normally during these remakes I get bored or fall asleep. It was action through the whole movie. I don't know if it was christian bale. Or who it was. But I felt entertained.

If people came here looking at this review thinking they are get a play by play of the movie. I'm not doing that with this one. You have to watch and please don't listen to these negative reviews. They want to live in the past on something that has already been done.

Once again don't try to watch this thinking this is going to be like the fist 2. It is not. Its just going to be great acting and simply a plot that action. Nothing over the top where its mind blowing. Expecting this movie to be like the first 1 where they were on to something new, and the second one where they had some super special effects is asking too much. It was well written movie. And its great to have all the Terminators. Cause I do.

A budget of only 35 million and they profited only 11 million. What a shame. This movie in all honesty displayed a great plot along with some great acting by both lead actors. The female interest to me was the most important role. Firs she was beautiful!. A lot of these female love interest I hate to say it do not have any uniqueness about them. Julianne Moore can act. Period and flat out. She looks beautiful. And the part where she throws her eggs out and goes out to confront him. Perfect and priceless. That is reality.

Another thing about this movie is it is reality. You don't get this whole scheme that you often see on TV that makes the female look great and the male look like, well a male from a female point of view. Kevin spacey is just so wonderful in this but that is expected.

A few things about this movie I took away. 1. I just have to take away for the ending. They could have done better honestly. And I have to take away for better actors. Although 3 or 4 of the actors are good. We are judging this by a 10 scale and if you want a ten all acting has to be on the same wave length. 3rd the plot honestly lost me a few times. Took me a second to figure out what the james bond woman was doing and who she was. And i was watching the whole movie.

Still 6.8 on a review is honestly bad for this movie. Should have been a solid 8. Mother and son relationship, Father and daughter relationship. Great plot without even any sex. Hell that sad love seen was all and it still was a better love interest in 99 percent of the movies I've seen. I felt love.

Another important thing about this is it involved something and a culture. I'm not talking about black and white. It seemed to have an irish thing. And I'm not irish and this maybe not true. But still they made you feel like "hey I want to fish and have a boat" or hey "where is this down at, now that feels like home". And once again I'm not irish but wherever that town is, I wouldn't feel bad being the only black person in that town.

At the end of the day you should have a movie that makes people feel part of your town and understand your people. I didn't feel any hate after this or simply a need to turn it off. My mom was a an editor for a magazine so I can relate to some things. But at the end of the day it had a home feeling to it that you won't see in movies today. Its 2017 and that movie was made in 2001. Its 16 years later that I first saw this movie. And I'm a huge movie buff. We should get back to acting and less about cartoons and actions figures. Sad that many people missed this movie but I know when my girlfriend is like "what movie to watch" i can put this in.

Heat (1995)

If you are looking for a gangsta movie this ain't it

I rarely give 10 out of 10's on movies. I'm not even sure if the godfather got a 10 out of 10 on my review and that to me is the greatest movie. But there are a lot of gangsta movies out there and to be honest I love the godfather 1 and 2 but I also love casino and goodfellas (yeah im a mafia fan).

With that said let me explain why I gave this a ten. This plot is so old. It doesn't get older than detective who a little crazy and out spoken going to arrest career criminals. But this added so much to the movie. It almost was like you were rooting for the bad guy and the cop. Which is rare. Usually its one or the other.

Ill explain in more detail what makes this movie great. The characters also seem like real criminals. The actor seem like they had some training. From the way val kilmer reloads his weapon to how all them hold their weapon when shootings. Ashley Judd had a great performance. I mean great.

I guess i could have taken a point off for robert deniro's girlfriend but seriously it didn't matter. Every male in the movie had some kind of relationship and ties to them. Just made you feel like these robbers had families. It made them so much more personal. As well as they playing into the cops life about his step daughter is 3rd marriage. I mean who hasn't got into an argument about "being your girlfriend/wife after thought". Or the "i had dinner ready and was waiting on you but I'm going to bed" Talk about realistic. Plus they added the daughter cutting herself. Didn't see that coming.

Some people may have a problem with a lot of things in this movie. Cops aren't going to shoot it out while that many civilians are around. I mean the 1997 robbery in cali didn't have that many civilians around. But with that said this movie was great and yes the coffee seen was great as well. 3 hours is a tad bit long. But if you were thinking this is some gangsta movie you are terribly wrong. Its just a movie based on some real life criminals. My favorite part is they actually went to go talk to real criminals to get an idea.

I normally don't out any 10's in movie's. I think the godfather maybe got a 10 from me. And i think thats the best movie of all time. But that is the godfather. There were plenty of movies about the Italian mob that was out. There is nothing like this movie period. You check the trivia for this movie and it credits policy academy with being the start of these so called rookie training police force comedy's. I can see that but it quickly is not the same.

Don't get me wrong rebecca D isn't even in the same league as beauty as kim catrall was in the 80's. I don't care how good kim's acting was, she was fine. But with that said rebecca also showed some toughness in this movie which is more like comedy.

Now the real killer her is the brunette. She killed it. When I first watched this in 1988 all I heard was about rebecca cause she was a star then. But the brunette really made this movie funny. Every scene she was in she delivered with precision from when they were trying on the dress told her "the only visit you are going to get is from the fashion police" to the part where rebecca's character said she failed a bunch of times and she told her "maybe you can write a book on it".

It is much harder playing a nerd, then acting tough. I have never seen any woman pull off that role and make me like her as a person. Nor was she funny.

Also to this was sort of an action comedy. If you watch movies like commando its action move turned into comedy from one liners. In this movie its just an comedy movie with some action.

And the most important thing about this movie. There is women wanting to move forward in life and nobody is making men look stupid, or has to make anybody else look bad to portray women as people who can hold a job. You don't have to down others to achieve success. Sure she had to put a few men face to ground. But that is only after they were laughing at her, and it made you feel like "hey they deserved it"

I'm so proud of the director for not trying to get a womans point of view on this. She just stuck to the topic of comedy and she actually mixed in action. Thats where I feel it differs from all the other police training movies. The action in those movies sucks. We have two women propelling from a building breaking out tear gas canisters, forging signatures of FBI agents? Need I say more, thats some mission impossible stuff right there. And they did with a smile and were funny.

There is also a bar seen where shes trying to take home a sailor after slamming down many tequila shots. And no, the guy didn't take her home and sleep with her. No it doesn't make her seem victimized. It was just your typical woman I had too much to drink talking a lot and going home by herself cause her friend saved her and the guy typically as like "i'm good". Which usually is what always happens. But movies makes it seem like women are victims and every guy is out to bang every woman and not the other way around. Its okay Hollywood to show women as people who can make mistakes and make up their own mind and go own with their lives without accusing anybody else of anything.

To all who said this movie was a waste of time. you are wrong. You can't and wont find a movie which is about 2 women getting ahead in life beating the odds which is funnier and has more action. And you wont find a better actor who played her part than the brunette.

A Few Good Men (1992)

I can handle the truth but can you?

So the most famous scene and quote are "you can't handle the truth" by jack nicholson. Lets face hit, he played that part to the T. Tom Cruise in his second movie as a naval officer. First in the Top Gun as a Naval Aviator and the navy all behind that. Even showed up to the theater to requite potential aviators. But this one the Navy didn't back up. Obviously a code red and murder trials are not something they want on their image.

Demi Moore I felt didn't get enough credit during her time. She played an excellent actor in this one. And playing a female naval officer wasn't easy. And how about her role. She wasn't taking her clothes off, she didn't even have a relationship with anybody. The writers didn't try to give that feeling like they were selling you on something. You either liked her character or you didn't. No stealing cheap emotions from people cause you want to be like "aww". I mean at one point they go "commander i want you to leave the room so we can talk about you" Tom Cruise and Kevin Bacon stole the show. Great after they played off each other, prosecutor and defense counsel. Probably what a lot of people don't realize was hard to do. Those two sold the whole "we have respect for each other" profession that some prosecutors have with other lawyers. No one could argue that kind of is not good for the people who go to trial. But hey, thats what makes the show great. You decide.

So about the movie and why its so great. Its court room drama. And I maybe a little bias since I love court room drama but its a lot of lines in her they make you want to know what else are they going to say. Some court movies make you want to skip to the ending.

I was in the navy for 6 years now Im in the guard. I joined the navy in 1998 so I can understand a few things that they are talking about. At the end of the day. There is a lot great acting here, I take off cause the people who were charged with a crime weren't convincing enough, and simply demi moore simply could have a better role. Plus I like this cause its based off true story.

I could have honestly gave this a 4 and been perfectly fine with this. This show is for all purposes, what is wrong with the American public image of what a perfect family is suppose to look like. And for all purposes its really more of a comical TV show. Most people good or bad reviews (and trust me i can read fast and love to read reviews but some of those were like watching paint dry in a thunderstorm) of the show do say its funny. No denying smarty, witty comebacks are what makes this show stay on TV. And eventually people will get tired of it and move on. Just like after the honeymoon your girlfriend wants more than just your "personality".

But for right now.... its on. Now the first season we saw the son. He his problem with drugs and was battling that. Then the getting along with the son in law. I really liked that one. Then also Kyle (his son through another marriage) baby Chloe. So this show started off well.

Yes this show is about a group of right white family members with a controlling dad who has smart ass remarks beautiful children (you can deny if you want but thats fine) and simply drives nice cars and has family issues. Thats this show. I think they were looking for more of something like their life. And frankly most people are pretty boring in real life. And honestly they don't have great comebacks. Probably most of their co workers at work don't want to be around them so I doubt a TV show would want to produce them.

You guys are just going to have to get over it. Its a white rich family who doesn't live a normal life. I said it, there it. But this show is hilarious. And they have their moments. And whether they make millions or just thousands of dollars, most of the families have the same problems. Who kids don't try to be sneaky and lie them or try to cover up lies? All parents know this all too well. From the time your child can talk they try to find a way to stay out of trouble or prolong it. In this case the parent isn't as witty with comebacks like when chase tried to take a girl to his range rover during a party and Todd goes "you are off the chain". The follows it up with "son i did that and have done that and have the t shirt to prove it, you are just watch the reruns".

This show has a lot of comedy in it. And it has a lot of reality situations in it. Will I be getting my step daughter a new mercedes when she turns 16? Hmm no. Model lessons? Probably not. But plenty of people daughters have had breast implants. How many parents make a cake? There is a lot of sense of humor in this show unmatched.

I took it down 4 points cause people sometimes see this and think life is perfect or that this is a bunch of rich people BS. And I really don't try to take those things away from a show. Its just entertainment people. Quit looking for a modern family to tell you how to live life. It seeks out its mission. Pure entertainment. Is Todd a nice guy in real life? Probably not, he got divorced from his wife cause she said he was too controlling. Is he controlling? Heck who knows, there are court documents proving he was divorced though and the show also doesn't explain Leslie and Kyle are from a separate marriage. At least I didn't get that. I had to read that online.

My girlfriend who doesn't like these type of shows found herself laughing a lot. Cause its funny. And its probably the southern sarcastic comments you only get in the south. Cause they shoot straight to the point and have sayings for days. A lot of people are right, its about a rich spoiled family, and Todd is a controlling individual but they are wrong because the results of the show, show a family and they have great points. Maybe if more fathers seen this and wanted to bond with their children more the world will be a better place. Not saying follow in Tod's footsteps but you can definitely learn something from this show. Cause those kids are about as normal as they come.

Point Break (1991)

Your typical 90's xtreme version of sports

Surfing has been around for a long time. I remember growing up the girl gidget always had a surf board and that was like 60's or something. I grew up in late 80's but back then they showed all the reruns from gidget, batman and giligans island.

But when this movie hit the movies waves, not everybody was familiar with the west coast and surfing. Especially where I grew up at, the midwest. Movies like this Point of no Return and Airbourne made the west coast seem like it was the place to be. Waves hitting, ocean. Parties all the time, no sleep just pure fun like 20 years olds where suppose to have.

This is no exception. In this movie you get Anthony keidis (sp) the leader singer of the red hot chilli peppers. You also have a lot of actors in this. The person who is actually the fbi lead so speak is a very good actor himself. Which is why he can say corny lines and it sounds OK.

I must admit, I am a fan of Patrick Swayze. A lot of people now remember him from dirty dancing. Cause that seems to be popular in this generation with females. But honestly I liked him more in this movie. He was hard core, in shape, long hair and unpredictable. Which I liked.

Now off to keanu reevers. Who I must say besides john wick i really hate this mans acting. I showed this to my roommate and she loved it. She likes reeves. I can't stand him. He just comes off as an actor who doesn't try to say his lines right and just sounds awful. No passion behind his lines. Almost like anyone can play his part.

This movie I remember was good but I forgot how funny it was. Even the people who left bad reviews admit, it is funny. The part where the guy is talking about surviving the last wave and saying "you can't just paddle back to sure if you decide you want to back out" is funny. Many things are funny. Right down to the mask they wear.

The female they had was attractive but she wasn't out of place attractive. Too many of these women they put in these surfer skydiving movies simply look like they don't belong. She looked like someone you would see on the beach.

But I will say they lost 2 points for the plot. Gary Busey helped sell them the plot. He even does good. He is just a good actor, very motivated. Season veteran. But the girl falling in love with him and him coming to save her. Plus the whole knee thing is pretty old. I must admit the plot was nothing that original. A bunch of people are doing some bad things and they love their extreme sport. One of the first to have this plot but seriously not the last. Great actors made this movie great, not the plot. If the plot was great you would have wanted to hop on a surfboard yourself. I didn't get that feeling from this movie.

If you want to watch a funny, great flick with some action in it. Foot chases, and one liners look no further. If you are looking for drama great acting and actors really leading on to each other like in classics, keep looking. I gave this an 8 because I'm rating it compared to other action movies. I actually should have gave it a 7 but seriously it has a woman fighting naked in the shower. That deserves a point by itself!!!
