Sons of Anarchy: Pilot (2008)
Very good start
I know I'm a bit late to this, but I guess it's never too late to start a new series and... what a series this seems to be!
I've always heard good things about this show and I finally got the chance to see it and I gotta say the pilot is pretty damn good. The acting is impressive and the storyline is even better.
Yes, there is a lot of violence, but what do you expect? It's a series about a gang of bikers and the rivalry with another gangs so this is to be expected and it's suitable for my likings.
I'm very curious to know where this story will go and that's the best compliment I can give to this episode. It made me want to watch more!
Only reason I don't give 9 or 10 is because I'm sure there will be much better episodes, with a lot more action and dramatic plot twists. This was just the start and for a pilot episode I couldn't ask for better.
Pretty Little Liars (2010)
Had potential to be better...
What can I say about this show? It starts off pretty well. A teenage girl is missing and the mystery behind the disappearance is written pretty nicely. The writers know how to keep the viewers stuck to the TV screen and to pay attention to all details.
However that's the main problem. The details. There are too many... And most of them aren't even related to the plot. Even if they are related to the plot, they'll most likely be forgotten or overruled as important in a matter of episodes. So, you get all that great build up, but in the end it's frustrating to see it leads nowhere... And this causes a ton of plotholes in the series. And seriously, there are too many to even count.
Besides that, the characters are ok. I believe they added way too many new characters who turn out to be irrelevant to the story and this feels a bit infuriating. The 4 main characters are decent. Some are more interesting than others, some are more boring, some are funnier. In the end, all of them don't have a major character development, which leads to boring characters in the last seasons of the series.
Another big issue related to the characters is the exaggerated amount of relationships they have. Most of the secondary characters they date aren't even well written, we don't know their past, their motives to be in the city, they're really just there as a stupid and boring love story that we know isn't leading anywhere. And then, all of a sudden, they leave the series without we even noticing it. Also, most of the couples in the series are formed by an underage girl and a man/woman in his 20's, which is something I find disturbing and gross.
In the end, it's a somewhat entertaining series, with a couple of nice episodes (mainly from the first seasons) in which you can have some good laughs. Don't watch it if you don't like complicated and confusing plots or if you don't pay attention to details, because most of the time you won't understand what's happening. Watch it for the entertainment and you're good to go!
Pretty Little Liars: The Glove That Rocks the Cradle (2017)
Nonsense
This episode wasn't as bad as the other ones of this season, with the murder plot and the romance between Alison and Emily. However, there's one thing I don't understand and I've seen too many weird things in the last episodes of PLL, but Aria working for AD is just the worst of them all. Not impressed with this plot at all. Aria is such an annoying character. She's fake, irritating, pretends to be a good person and stabs everyone in the back. Then, starts crying and her friends and boyfriend start supporting her and she acts like nothing happened. I really hope she doesn't end up with Ezra, because he deserves much better, but I'm most likely wrong.
Pretty Little Liars: The Gloves Are On (2016)
PLL downfall
I don't even know where to start...
Pretty Little Liars used to be a good series. Yes, the 4 main characters are known for making stupid mistakes and saying garbage things, but in season 6 they're becoming even worse. Poor Ezra... he's being accused of something terrible by four ungrateful little girls who probably forgot everything he's done to help them out on their struggle against A. Just because he's sad that her ex girlfriend died and he's not accounted for in the hours that Charlotte died, these genius thought it was a good idea to hard accuse this poor man. I hope Ezra never forgives them, I know I wouldn't.
And btw, Caleb and Spencer storyline is truly disgusting. The writers were able to "kill" the best character in the series, by making him date his ex girlfriend best friend... I'm disappointed.
