The Invisible Man (I) (2020)

Great Movie

This is indeed a great movie. I liked it. My expectations were high and I was fully satisfied after watching it. The story is good, acting is excellent, soundtrack is very good, cinematography is good and the twist is unexpected...

The movie starts immediately with the main story without any boring setups. The movie respects itself and do NOT use any cheap materials like unnecessary sex or nudity just for attracting more audience. It is serious from the beginning to the end. It caught my attention all the time. Never got bored and what a shocking ending!

I didn't give this movie 10 because it has some minor plot holes. But those holes never damage a wonderful movie like this. I recommend it.

The Lighthouse (I) (2019)

Never trust IMDB ratings again!

I have watched this movie encouraged by its high rating, but I got very disappointed. I cannot understand why a movie like this get 7.7 rating. Whatever the taste of the audience, I cannot imagine that somebody will indeed like it. The movie fails in almost every singe detail.

1- Story Line: Non interesting and contains a lot of repetitive events.

2- Cinematography: Less than mediocre.

3- Pace: Extremely slow making the movie very boring.

4- Nothing to be followed, you just watch and get bored.

5- Dialog: They are non interesting and rarely contribute to the main story.

6- Twist: A promising twist that never happens.

7- End: Plain and does not make any sense.

I still give this movie 2 stars for taking care of the character development, but this alone cannot save this movie. Never recommend this movie for anybody.

Joker (I) (2019)

Boring and highly overrated

OK, the story is nice and the acting is excellent. But the movie suffers from three bad things:

1- Boring and uninteresting dialog. There are a lot of them.

2- Too slow pace.

3- Too lengthy. Too much time for very little number of ideas.

These three things combined are more than enough to destroy any movie. It is the first time I have felt that I need to look at the watch to know how much left for the movie to end. Beside this, the genre is supposed to be a thriller in addition to crime and drama, but it is too far from being a thriller.

I cannot understand the exaggerated high ratings for this movie. I want to be fair with it. So although it is boring, I give it 4 stars for the story and the acting, but definitely the movie does not worth 5 stars or more. Consequently, I cannot recommend this movie.

Mile 22 (2018)

Fast Action Thriller

Don't listen to low rating reviews. It is possibly a political issue. You may understand this when you watch the movie. It is a fast paced, thrilling and breathe catching movie with an interesting excellent ending that is not easy to expect. The story, the acting and the cinematography are all good. What else an action thriller does require?!. If you are an action fan, don't hesitate to watch this one.

Rambo: Last Blood (2019)

Classic, Simple, Excellent

This movie is indeed good. The beauty of this movie is that it has a simple consistent plot, but on the other hand it has a lot of action scenes with intense violence containing a variety of interesting ideas. The cinematography is good and the scenes are well chosen. What makes the movie even better is that it contains a little drama with it. You will easily feel the emotional development of the main character. If you are an action fan, this movie is for you; however, if you are looking for a deep original story, this movie may not make you happy.

Angel of Mine (2019)

Good movie wasted by poor direction

The story is good and the actors are excellent. The problem with the movie is that the details of the story are poor. It looks like as if the director came up with a good idea about a movie, yet he was lazy when making the details. The details don't have any interesting ideas and are very plain; however, you can still enjoy the overall story. As usual I like to list the pros and cons.

Pros:

1) Good story. 2) Excellent acting. 3) Straight and direct. Almost all the scenes are related directly to the main story. 4) Characters do develop throughout the movie.

Cons:

1) Poor details. 2) Predictable.

Although the movie has more pros than cons, but more than an hour in the middle of the movie are filled with scene after scene of poor and uninteresting ideas, I feel it hard to give this movie 7 or more. So I gave it 6.

Angel Has Fallen (2019)

The best of the series

Olympus has Fallen was a good action movie, then we had London has Fallen not as as good as the first. But now we have the best of the series Angel has Fallen.

The movie is good because:

1) The story is interesting.

2) The action scenes and the ideas are creative.

3) Fast pace. No boring. Except some few dramatic minutes.

4) Good cinematography.

However, the movie has some cons:

1) The general plot is expected. But there are few surprises concerning the details, so actually it is not that bad.

2) There are no suspense or breath catching scenes.

If you are looking for a deep story movie, mystery or a thriller, This movie may not make you happy. But if you want to see a fast action movie with creative action scenes, then this movie is for you.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

This is Good but not Super

I will try to make my review direct.

Pros:

1- Good Acting. 2- Excellent action scenes. 3- Good dialog. 4- Character development. 5- Moderate Story. Considered as a pros for not being a pointless action movie. 6- Some comic dialog are inserted very appropriately.

Cons:

1- The movie is somehow lengthy. 2- Predictable. 3- Not accurate genre. The genre should also contain "comedy" in addition to "action" and "adventure".

In short. Don't expect interesting story with twists and surprising ending. All of these are very classical and expected, but it at least contains a moderate story to be followed. The movie is great at the level of action. There are a lot of action scenes that are interesting and different from each other. This prevents the movie from being boring in spite of being lengthy. I recommend this movie to those who want to see a good action movie. But those who want to see deep story based movie, they probably better look for something else

Midsommar (2019)

Pros and Cons. You decide!

Let me give objective pros and cons, and then I will present my personal opinion:

Pros:

1- Good story. Don't expect something original anyway.

2- Good ending, but it really depends how do you understand it.

3- Good cinematography.

4- Good acting specifically Florence Pugh.

5- Good building of tension and suspense.

Cons:

1- It is really too lengthy. Scenes pass too slowly. Expect to get bored several times in the movie.

2- Most of the time is wasted on marginal details, while the most important scenes are passed quickly.

3- Very stupid behaviors of some characters who are supposed to be smarter. This is frustrating in the movie.

4- A main character who can significantly enrich the movie died early. This makes most of the remaining of the movie revolve about poor repetitive ideas.

Now my personal opinion. If the movie is shortened to only 90 minutes, and postpones the first dying character to the end scenes, I can rate this movie easily with 8 or 9 points. But getting bored several times in the movie with a lot of repetitive ideas, this will decrease my rating to 5.

Collateral Beauty (2016)

Reliable Review

I will summarize the pros and cons, and let the reader to decide. In short, I don't recommend this movie; it is a waste of time and money.

Pros:

-Good story line. This is what made me watch the movie in the first place.

-Good acting specifically Will Smith. Will Smith is great, no doubt. The other actors are very good too.

-The last moments of the movie are good. They surprise you.

Cons:

-It is boring; it spends a lot of time on unnecessary scenes and dialogues that are either marginal or not related to the main story.

-It is not deep. Drama is supposed to enter in depth in human emotions. The main issues in the movie "death", "time" and "love" are discussed very superficially, and the related dialogues are short. Even the main issue of the movie "Collateral Beauty" is very passive.

Summary: Although the movie had had all the requirements of a good movie like good acting and good story line, I will not recommend a boring superficial drama.
