UFO (2022)
A little boring....but okay
Well firstly I don't think this film is as bad as other reviewers are making out. The storyline is cliched yes, but I knew that going in. If you're familiar at all on how some Turkish films can end, brace yourself for that. Ultimately I didn't find the main relationship between the leads to be that captivating to sustain my interest. The motorbike racing aspect of this story was just something that was "there" for me, not an feature I really cared about. There is some 2nd hand embarrassement with the bike racing (does anyone actually ride like this?) There's just no momentum with this film, it drags.
If you're a fan of either of the leads then its worth a watch to see them in different roles. Failing that, the film is rather forgettable.
Dark Light (2019)
90 minutes too long
If you want to watch a movie with doors eerily opening, and closing over and over again. Or to see the main protagonist going up and down, up and down stairs, all whilst nothing happens, well this is the movie for you my friends. Although I personally wouldn't recommend this to a friend of mine. No suspense, not real plot and frankly just boring. When I initially saw the house in amongst the cane fields it was oddly reminiscent of 'SIGNS'. Here's an idea, watch that movie. By far and away superior in every sense of the word. I'd give it one star...but I guess there ARE worse films out there.
Downhill (2020)
What a bore fest.
This film is billed as comedy/drama and it lacks in delivery of either. I have not seen the original Swedish film, but I sure hope its better than this. The cast's talents are wasted in a film that just doesn't know what it wants to be. Honestly the best part about this film is the Italian actor Giulio Berruti who is cast as a ski instructer, but his appearance is all too brief. 'Downfill' is an apt description of this film.
