Lazy sequel but really with the 1 star reviews
23 July 2021
First off I loved the original movie. It was a cheesy fun kids movie and featured some really fun set pieces.

This sequel my expectations were low and yes I could guess every story arc and plot device going. Yes the film is rather lazy but I've seen so many movies that are worse.

For starters this was always going to be a standard sequel where it crashes in on the original but doesnt come close.

The main negatives from my side besides an original idea is that what made the first film good was the looney toons characters played a main part in the story, this film suffers a lot from sidelining them as a supporting role and instead focus on a boring villain.

Really enjoyable film but not quite the classic I thought it would be

This is my first experience of Korean cinema (although I have watched many foreign language films). The subtitles may put off some but I care more about the story.

This is a really good film which is equally funny as it engrossing and then nearer the end quite moving.

The tone is a tad all over the place, which I'm sure is likely the aim but for me it makes it harder to land that emotional pull to make you really emphasise with the characters.

I would argue the film translates to me that family and belonging are the themes to take away.

So overall I would say I enjoyed the film and would say go see it for the experience, but if I'm honest I wouldn't choose to add it to my collection.

Good film but totally forgettable
21 January 2017
I have seen a number of films this year. Some have been of very good standard like Nocturnal Animals, Silence, Hunt For The Wilderpeople, La La Land and A Monster Calls. My expectations were low going into this film. Heavily praised by the critics but mixed opinions among cinema goers.

Manchester By The Sea is a watchable film. Beautifully filmed and well acted. However the story is pretty average and i never once felt any sympathy for the characters, so it was hard to feel involved in the outcome. Also found some of the more sentimental parts of the film to be ruined by loud classical music.

Overall its worth watching once but i highly doubt you will want to watch again.

Really not that bad. Some people are slating for the sake of it.

I've just been to see The Bye Bye Man and i can honestly say it isn't that bad. OK so it isn't going to win any awards and its unlikely to be a horror classic. But if you go in expecting little then its a pretty decent horror film. Its pitched somewhere between Sinister and it follows.

Pros

Its quite easy to watch. Fairly decent story

Cons The acting is below average. The story had potential to be really good but seemed to lack in a proper back story and the main characters were lacking any real personality.

Overall If you are looking for an amazing horror film then this probably isn't for you. If you want something fairly enjoyable for 90 minutes i can think of worse films to watch.
