It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang's Still in Ireland (2021)
Hilarious episode
This episode has one my favourite Dennis moments of all time- when he's trying to stifle his cough in the estate agents. Honestly, I've watched it a few times now and every time it kills me. One of the best laugh out loud moments from the season and probably one my favourite moments of the whole show! Also, Dennis' descent into covid-fuelled madness is so funny. Dennis is my favourite character anyway and I feel like this was a culmination of his increasing sociopathic behaviour.
Friday Night Dinner: For Sale (2016)
Conversation spindle
I love FND. I love Martin the most. This has got to be my favourite Martin episode- the conversation spindle he jade which leads to his furious additions about the future of space travel and horses etc. Is just hilarious. RIP Paul Ritter.
Moon Knight (2022)
Oscar Isaac is great!
I didn't really follow all of it if I'm being honest but I really enjoyed Oscar Isaac's performance, as I always do. I have read some reviews bashing his British accent but I'm English and I thought it was good- contributed to a lot to the humour of the show. Ethan Hawke is also good in an understated evil kind of way. I quite like the fact that it doesn't have anything to do with the previous MCU films/shows, I think it started going a bit downhill after Endgame to be honest, and it's nice to have a female lead who doesn't do your head in like in TFATWS or Loki. Just my opinion!
The Batman (2022)
Battinson is amazing
I was intrigued when I found out Robert Pattinson was going to play Batman. I know a lot of people were sceptical about it but I was hopeful and when I finally saw it I wasn't disappointed. I LOVE him as Batman. And Zoe Kravitz is amazing as Selina Kyle and I love the two of them together. I've just seen it for the second time and I enjoyed it even more this time, which is often the case when seeing hyped up movies after a long wait. It didn't feel like nearly 3 hours either, I was never bored and the time went by quickly.
You can tell that Matt Reeves is a big fan of the comics, and he has done them justice, for example the focus on Batman as the world's greatest detective and the nod to the 'venom' which gives Bane his strength in the scene where he gets shot near the end. Possible sequel storyline?
Stath Lets Flats: A Literally Earlier Year (2021)
Amazing
I love SLF and the third season in particular. I think this has got to be my favourite episode of the whole show, it's hilarious and moving and I admit I cried when Al finally tells Sophie how he feels. The best comedies are the ones who make you feel, it's like the end of The Office Christmas special when Tim and Dawn finally get together. Genius writing and acting and one of the best British comedies in recent years.
North & South (2004)
Amazing
I remember watching this when it first came out and I've watched it several times since then. It is one of my all-time favourites and it is one of the best costume dramas the BBC (or any other channel for that matter) has ever made. Mr Thornton has a lot to do with that of course. He really is up there with Darcy as one of the best heroes.
I never get bored of it and it really is as good now as it was 17 years ago when I first watched it.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Frank's Back in Business (2012)
One of my faves
I can't believe this episode isn't rated more highly. It's so funny. All the subplots are great. The fight milk promotional video is genius. Dennis trying to 'get off' by pretending to be Brian LeFevre is hilarious. So good.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Not that bad
I didn't mind it. I have read so many really negative reviews, but I really don't think it is as bad as everybody seems to think. Yes, it's not as good as the first one, but it's not worth 1/10, which really should be reserved for films that are much MUCH worse.
I was entertained watching it, I'm a big fan of Chris Pine/Steve Trevor so I liked seeing him come back, and I like Pedro Pascal, too. I like the pre-Cheetah Kristen Wiig.
It's not perfect but people seem to just be jumping on the bandwagon of slating it, and I don't think it deserves all the hate.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
Best Robin Hood film
This is and always will be one of my favourite films ever. If you can look past Kevin Costner's accent (I've seen it so many times I don't even notice it even more) and the obvious historical and geographical inaccuracies (England isn't so small that someone could walk from the south coast to Nottinghamshire in a few hours) it's such a great film.
The main reason for its brilliance is Alan Rickman. He is amazing in anything he does but this is one of his best performances. So over-the-top and he has great comic timing.
And the supporting cast are great!
Bridgerton (2020)
It's no Jane Austen...
I love watching costume dramas and literary adaptations, especially at Christmas. The period in which this is set is my favourite, being a long-standing fan of Jane Austen, but this is very different. That said, I love the costumes and sets and the insight into Regency society.
I know a lot of people have issues with the casting of POC, and I know it isn't necessarily historically accurate but people need to get over themselves and just enjoy it for what it is. The Duke is as handsome a leading man as any other literary hero, and it shouldn't matter what colour his skin is.
I haven't read the books so I don't know how accurate it is but it's entertaining enough. As a friend and fellow costume drama fan put it: 'any costume drama is better than none at all'.
David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)
Grows on you
I wasn't too keen on this when I first saw it. I found it a bit disappointing as I was such a big fan of The Office. However, I did give it another go a few months later and enjoyed it more. I have watched it several times since then and I definitely think it improves the more you watch it. Still not as good as The Office but my boyfriend and I still find ourselves quoting this all the time. My favourite scenes are when he's talking to the waitress and talking to the band about iPods and the World Cup. Cringe as anything but also hilarious!
Aquaman (2018)
A fat Aquaman? Really?
I don't understand why so many people are referring to Jason Momoa as 'fat'. They are clearly deluded and morons. He's a great Aquaman. I know he's nothing like the original comic book Aquaman, he's much better if anything. He was always a bit lame and the dud of the Justice League. This film did a good job of making him cool. Jason Momoa is a genius casting choice. This film isn't perfect, but it's entertaining and funny and a bit silly, which is how it should be. And Jason Momoa is NOT fat. He's excellent!
People Just Do Nothing: Dubplate (2016)
Hilarious
This is one of my favourite episodes of the show. So many classic moments. Without going into too much detail about the plot etc. the highlights are Chabuddy G preparing for his date and the Kurupt FM lads' complete lack of understanding about how a studio works. Studio, yeah studio innit
The Pioneer Woman (2011)
Ahhhh Ree
I discovered this programme while I was channel flicking one day and I have watched ever since. I find the show really relaxing and entertaining. I live in a small house in a medium-sized city in England so her lifestyle couldn't be much more different to mine, it's almost like something out of a movie. I have tried a few of her recipes but I rarely have that much butter...
I know it's predominantly a cooking show but I like the ranch and the kitchen and the family more. I also read her book about how she met Ladd which was really sweet!
