The Deep End: The Lost Toys (2022)
Full of Herself
This woman's ego is bigger than Texas. She claims to have ESP and whatever else but she's been married FIVE times and has been in 14-15 relationships. Yeah ok.
And Just Like That...: Hello It's Me (2021)
And Just Like That... I'M OUT
Before watching the first episode and.a half, I would've told you I'm a die-hard SATC fan. I've watched the entire series more times than I can count.
And this is how they repay our loyalty.
They kill off Big, which was super obvious given how much they focused on how happy they were (and the post a friend shared about a trigger warning that the series deals with death/dying).
And Charlotte with her obvious facelift and constant whining about how it was all her fault. Oh woe is me. Just. Shut. Up. It isn't about you.
Really, Miranda?! It's one thing to let your kid's girlfriend move in, but you're cool with your son and his girlfriend in the next room being as loud as possible? Sorry but no. That's disgusting.
And for the over-the-top woke commentary. Was the original series SERIOUSLY lacking diversity? YES. A thousand times yes. Do we need to be hit over the head about woke culture? No. Please know that I am not a minority and therefore my opinion does absolutely come from a place of privilege. In no way do I intend offense. Do non-minorities have a lot to learn? Absolutely. But IMO this isn't the platform.
Finally, nobody here knows the REAL story about Kim Catrall not being in this series. I don't care how much she and SJP didn't get song. The FANS deserved better than for them to have her turn into a petty monster who refuses to talk to the girls just because Carrie didn't need her services anymore. They easily could've just said, "I miss Samantha but I'm so glad she's doing so well in London. I look forward to her visit." Almost anything except how they handled it.
I'M SO VERY DISAPPOINTED. I doubt I'll ever watch three original again which makes me sad. And just like that, I'm out.
He Lied About Everything (2018)
Poorly Done Given Her Profession
Like others mentioned, it felt like the fact that this man was responsible for the deaths of several people was more of an afterthought.
Her narration didn't feel natural, which given her profession is disappointing.
And for the love of all things holy, STOP WITH THE HORRIBLE, THICK BLACK EYELINER!!! I couldn't look at the screen most of the time when she was on it. Blech.
Cruel Summer (2021)
Would've been better without Mallory
Overall I enjoyed this series. It was slow in parts and could easily have been condensed into 2-3 fewer episodes.
I realize changing hair styles for different years can be an effective way of identifying which timeline we're currently watching, but please, for the love of all things entertainment, stop with the obvious and ridiculous wigs. Stop with the pigtails on a character who looks 35 (ok, maybe not quite 35, but Mallory definitely did NOT look like a high school student).
Speaking of Mallory... Everything Mallory NEEDS. TO. GO. I feel bad saying this since there's a real person playing her, but I. Couldn't. Stand. Mallory. I almost stopped watching because of her.
HQS, please take acting classes. Learn how to express anger/frustration better and seriously, open your mouth when you speak.
***POTENTIAL (minor) SPOILER***
In case anyone missed it, I think it's pretty obvious Mallory was in love with Jeanette and her being quick to react so explosively all the time was her trying to deal with her feelings.
I enjoyed the finale. Appreciated the wrap-up.
I'm pretty sure Season 2 will have an entirely different cast and plot. If not, I don't know that I will keep watching with Mallory in it.
Big Sky (2020)
Big Sky? More like Big Sigh.
Horrible acting. Especially the main character. She does a horrible job of trying to hide her accent. I agree with others who pointed out that the sheriff is all over the place in terms of who he kills and who he leaves alive. I knew Ryan Phillippe wasn't going to be in the series much when the opening credits of the first episode listed him as "featuring" but I didn't - for once - see his death coming. Maybe because I had given up on paying attention and was playing on my phone. Honestly have no idea why I'm still watching at episode 3. At this point, why keep any of them alive? Seriously. What's the end game? They've seen both of your faces. With them alive, you're hosed. Dumb.
The Final Girls (2015)
Psych Fans, this movie feels like Tuesday the 13th
If you like Tuesday the 13th, you'll enjoy this.
It's got just the right amount of cheese, IMO. Fun take on a slasher flick. Enjoyed it so much that I watched it twice in in two days.
