Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023)
Fantastic mix of pure Bollywood and a real life message
Raises issues of body shaming, parental expectations, family pressure, societal interference. Nicely blended into a feel-good, Bollywood masala movie. The acting was spot on with Jaya Bachchan in a mean role and Ranveer and Alia's chemistry and intense dialogues were emotional and well delivered. Dharmender was fantastic- he had very few lines but what he did say was meaningful. The comedy in this film is just brilliant. The sets are beautiful and the clothes Ranveer wears are going to be trend-setters. In one minute I was laughing and in the next, crying my heart out. I hope the older generation watches this film and learns from it.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Incredible graphics, good storyline
Lacks emotion but this is truly a masterpiece in Indian visual effects cinema and is very much on par with any Hollywood marvel film. Those who have rated this less than 8 are simply anti- Bollywood. Ignore them. This is a mythological tale set in today's day with strong ancient undercurrents. The acting is fantastic and the special appearance from SRK is really a great start to the movie. The person who steals the show though is Mouni Roy who has given me nightmares since I watched the film! A delight to the eyes and senses. If you're a fan of Bollywood, of hindu mythology or of visual effects, this is definitely a film for you. The songs are good and the lyrics memorable.
Aashram (2020)
Waiting for Pammi to get her revenge...
What are the songs about? No decent TV show has ridiculous Bollywood style, item- number songs mid way through serious scenes. I thought the first series was good, 2nd definitely watchable but this 3rd series is a joke.
Shershaah (2021)
The best war film from India ever
Border, kargil, rustom- all such films are nothing in comparison to this simply stunning, heart wrenching, emotional roller coaster of a movie. With URI, it's the best war film to have ever been made in India. Kiara doesn't deserve the second named actor as she did nothing.
Sorjonen (2016)
Simply outstanding
All crime series are second to this. It's utterly gripping, fantastic acting, great storylines and the horrifying details will keep you glued to the TV in anticipation for the next scene or episode.
Mimi (2021)
Just ok
Think those voting any higher are simple Bollywood fans rather than people who know a good film. It's often boring, sometimes funny, mostly cringeworthyand the acting is meh.
The Girl on the Train (2021)
Yawn
Yawn. Go to bed instead. You'll be in a much better place than in front of the TV watching this. Awful acting from ALL the cast, especially the terrible minor roles actors.
Serious Men (2020)
A must-see film
Nawazuddin never disappoints and he shines bright once again in this funny and poignant film. His son is just adorable. The film is a great tribute to the book and the director has done it justice.
The story is simple: a lower caste man who is mistreated at work every single day, decides he will not allow this ruthless, judgemental and prejudiced world to mistreat his son. He fights to get basic respect in a very prestigious space project office. At his humble abode, he teaches his son to memorize facts to portray himself as a child genius.
It's an emotional ending with the little boy having a breakdown which is punishment enough for Nawaz as his father. His son comes first and anyone who suggests that he was in it for the money is wrong. Anyone who also suggests that the message that you should make your way in the world through fraud is also wrong. The message is clear: India's caste system is a disgrace to the nation and despite laws to suggest there should never be discrimination based on caste, it happens even today in every walk of life. The struggles of dalits is real. And it should not even exist. Wake up India
Unfreedom (2014)
Boring
Thought it might be a refreshing change from Bollywood but it's much the same but with nudity to distinguish it.
Khuda Haafiz (2020)
Waste of time
Just watched film which is a mix between Taken, Rambo and Bourne... think the director is trying to be Tarantino?
