During 90s, whatever the superstar Rajinikanth touched turned into money. And he was able to do it with Uzhaipaali. Rajinikanth plays the role of a daily wager and lives with his elder sister and brother in law. The industry he works for is run by Radharavi and his brothers. Since the company's heir had been assumed to be missing, the property of the industry cannot be transferred to Radharavi & his brothers who hire Rajinkanth to act as the industry's heir. And Rajinikanth turns out to be the real one. From there story moves. The ending would be a typical superstar movie ending and it has been since. Roja plays the heroine part and comedy part shared by goundamani, visu and SS.chandran. The main objective the movie aimed was to delight the superstar's fans and make some, if possible good amount of money and it overwhelmingly surpassed both those expectations. Nothing else to say about this movie. Must watch for a superstar fan though.

It has been almost two decades since this movie got released. I was only a kid then. The movies and songs that we see and hear during the time we grow up unusually remains in our hearts and memory and would give some good feeling. Well, this was the movie that mingled with me when I was one. After getting a wider perspective view with my age, I could still rate this movie a decent status. Chinna Thambi (played by Prabhu) is an innocent guy who works at Nandhini's (played by Kushboo) home who is a rich girl having three brothers. Since her horoscope predicts that she will not marry someone of their brother's choice, they raise her in a restricted environment devoid of men with the exception of Chinna Thambi due to his obvious innocence. Nandhini eventually falls in love with Chinna Thambi and story moves from there on. The direction and music were good given the standards of the 90s and thuliyile song is something that almost every tamilian knows. Verdict : Happy time pass

In recent times, it has become stereotypical to present movies with violence and gore in the tamil cinemas. But Jillunu oru kaadhal stood out and lived to the hype, at least according to the box office. Rather being a regular love story, the script of Jillunu oru kaadhal moves in a different path. Surya is married to Jyothika and lives happily with his daughter. He is a mechanic for a major car company in mumbai. All goes well before Jyothika finds Surya's personal diary which reveals an entirely different version of him - his college days. The story moves back and forth from there on and keeps the audience enthralled in almost all the aspects, whether it be music, comedy, romance, anger, fight etc., The performances of all the artists were exemplary. Surya's presence, Jyothika's curiosity, Bhoomika's innocence, Vadivelu/Sandhanam's ultimate comedy sequences, ARR's music - all stays in heart forever. A soft love story shown in the best form possible in the tamil industry. In a gist, this is a Jill (Cool) time pass!

A movie's success can be viewed in many ways. Many claim a movie is very much successful only when it stands the test of time. Not only should the movie be good and hit at the time when it was released, but it should be well and good when seen after a very long time. And Mannan tried to be one for quite some time, at least for the Tamil audience, definitely not world wide. The best thing about the movie is the portrayal of the ego clash between a male and female. It just is simply stunning, even now it is. And the comedy of Rajinikanth and Goundamani stands the test of time. I can say that this movie had one of Goundamani's best ever comedies allied with the superstar. The "Amma" song is a deity by Illayaraja and Jesudas that still melts the heart of each and every living human being on earth. As a whole, Mannan is a must watch movie for every superstar fan!

Well, it becomes stereotypical to see the same kind of stories again and again. It does happens a lot in Tamil industry. And this movie is no exception. With Jayam Ravi playing the lead role with Asin as the heroine, you can enjoy some humor scattered here and there and some comedy as well with Vivek playing some role in the background. Nadhiya has made a comeback to the industry but not as a heroine this time, simply due to her age. Prakashraj is a boxer who has to abandon his career due to his boxing career whose abandoned son being Ravi and Nadhiya being his wife. The story goes on from there, not so interesting to tell about it even. The ending is so damn repetitive as this is almost the 50th one I am seeing in that kind. Cloyingly clichéd.

It is very pleasant to see, in the past decade, the Indian movies has raised themselves in standards. Ghajini definitely is one of the toughest project that Aamir khan would have done, there is no doubt in that. It is not always easy to remake a hit version and alter the storyline here and there and still come out good. It is only possible through the best men in the industry. And Aamir is THE best. ARRahman - WOW!!! He made the Kaise mujhe song echo in all the audience's heart as they leave the theater. Its like "Every night in my dreams" song from titanic. Soul touching performance from the music Guru!! Overall, this movie has to be watched for its storyline, humor, sentiment, twists. Overall Ghajini is a great entertainment-packed. Go! watch it today!!!!

The main aspect about the Superstar's movies at his later stages were the frequency, the lacuna between one movie and the next. Being a well established star of the south Indian cinema, the feedbacks he was receiving before Baba was great.
Since Nattukku Oru Nallavan (1991), the number of movies he acted in Tamil as a mass Hero in 11 years were only 11 exactly at the rate of 1 per year. All of these were a great hit. He was having a image that many thought could not be easily brought down.
But after Padayappa (1999), he went into a state of Hibernation. His fans all over the world, especially in South India were ready to see movie of any kind with their superstar in action. So, the Tamil cinema industry decided to come with Baba.
The movie makers thought that the fans will take whatever they show with Superstar in it. But this clearly did not work out in this movie. As usual, the hype from the media and the expectation from the fans were way beyond limit.
Rajinikanth's image was totally damaged. The fans went nuts. The movie's collection did not meet the expected level. Reputation of great people went down.
The only positive aspect about this movie was the songs by A.R.Rehman. Rehman is known to have composed good music for some worst movies like Tajmahal, Kadal Virus, Alli Arjuna, Paarthale Paravasam, Star, En Swasa Katre, Vandicholai Chinnarasu etc. Well, i never thought that this movie would join that league.
You'l feel very much depressed not because the movie was bad, it'l be because of the superstar's image going down. It took him five full years to regain it fully back with two movies Chandramukhi and Sivaji and give fans back what they really look for in a superstar film.

A movie can be a successful in two different ways. One would be the commercial value the movie produces. The other would be to leave a significant amount of thinking in the minds of the audience. This movie would fit in the later part. Swades, albeit being commercially unsound, is definitely a movie of mere quality. This is not the kind of movie where you can expect action, fun etc., Rather this movie focuses on the grass root level on why India is still a developing nation.
This movie clearly depicts the true image of India's poverty, caste system etc.,. The story was told in a way that it does not hurt any of the Indian tradition or its culture. After seeing this movie, a urban citizen can understand where the problem really is and what can be done to avoid it.
A Revolution cannot happen within a day or two. These kind of movies could only show what is happening around us. The movie makers' success lies in the small thought they are able to inject into audience's minds.
The script, the place, the actors, the music - all were just perfect. Still this movie cannot make a significant collection in box office because of the lack of commerciality.
Yet i would suggest every Indian to watch this movie. You can really feel that you have gained something after watching this masterpiece.

When the best people in the south Indian cinema meet (Shankar, Rajini, A.R.Rehman, AVM), the expected hype will be too much. There was a lot of pressure on both the fan's part and the movie makers' part to make Sivaji a huge hit by all means. It was a long time since padayappa, they've seen Rajini in full action. Baba was a clear let down. Chandramukhi was not a Super star centered movie. And for his reputation and style, the fans were very thirsty and were ready to see movie of any kind with their super star in form. In fact, i am a hardcore superstar fan. And i was one of the thirsty fans waiting to see my hero in action. For a guy like me, this movie has everything in it. A nice blend of action, comedy, stunts and THE STYLE of Super star. You cannot expect too much logic. Not for the super star. The director has to satisfy both his fans and Rajini's fans. I felt totally satisfied after coming out of the theater. Well, the movie did have pitfalls but the star's style easily dominated them. Overall rating : 8 out of 10.
